> Quick view: Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort's Friday and Saturday BBQ buffet at Coals on the Beach costs RM178 nett an adult at the door, but the hotel's own e-store sells a voucher for the same dinner at RM142. That is RM36, or 20%, off per person. The buffet poster and the voucher both stop on 31 October 2026, so there are eight dinners left. Book a table at least 24 hours ahead and bring the voucher.

What is on offer

Hyatt Regency Kuantan sits on the beach at Teluk Cempedak, the bay on the eastern edge of Kuantan. Coals on the Beach is its open-air grill by the sand, and on Friday and Saturday nights it runs a BBQ buffet. The hotel's poster sets the terms:

  • Friday and Saturday, 6.30pm to 10.30pm
  • RM178 nett per adult, RM89 nett per child
  • available until 31 October 2026

The hotel also sells the dinner through its e-store at hyattregencykuantan.whyqueue.shop, listed under "Flavours of Kuantan" as the Weekend Fire & Feast BBQ Buffet Dinner, at RM142 against RM178. One voucher covers one person, dine-in only. The voucher terms give a validity of 1 May to 31 October 2026, so this has been running since May and October is the last month.

The poster does not list the menu, and the hotel does not publish one on the e-store either. Expect grilled meats and seafood, but if you have a particular dish in mind, ask when you reserve.

How to use it, step by step

  1. Buy the voucher on the e-store. You can buy several in one cart, one per diner.
  2. WhatsApp or call +60 16 963 4830, or email the hotel, to reserve a Friday or Saturday table. The terms require at least 24 hours' notice, and confirmation depends on space.
  3. Show the original voucher when you arrive.
  4. Anything outside the buffet, such as drinks from the bar, is billed separately.

Since the last dinner is Saturday 31 October, your last chance to reserve under the 24-hour rule is Friday 30 October in the evening. Weekend tables by the sea go fast, so do not leave it that late.

What it costs: worked examples

The voucher already includes 6% SST, and the walk-in prices on the poster are nett, so both figures are the full amount.

  • Couple: 2 vouchers = RM284, against RM356 at the door. You save RM72.
  • Family of four (2 adults, 2 children): 2 vouchers plus 2 child prices = RM284 + RM178 = RM462, against RM534. Saving RM72. The e-store only sells the one voucher type and does not mention children, so we have assumed the children pay the RM89 poster price at the restaurant. Ask about child age limits when you book.
  • Group of 6 adults: 6 vouchers = RM852, against RM1,068. Saving RM216.

The rest of the e-store this month

The same store has a few other dining deals worth knowing about if you are already in Teluk Cempedak:

  • Tiger Prawn Festive at Italian Bistro, RM75 instead of RM90 (17% off), until 31 October. Three dishes: Spaghetti Gamberoni Piccante, Risotto al Gamberoni e Zafferano (tiger prawn and saffron risotto) and Gamberoni alla Griglia. Dine-in, one person per voucher, 24 hours' notice.
  • The Deli whole cakes, RM110 instead of RM142 (23% off), until 20 December. Five flavours: Chocolate Truffle, Oreo Cheese Cake, Blueberry Cheese Cake, Apple Crumble and Lemon Passion Fruit Coconut Cake. The blueberry listing describes a 1kg, 8-inch cake. Give 48 hours' notice before pick-up.
  • F&B cash vouchers, until 20 December: RM100 for RM85 and RM500 for RM425 (both 15% off), or RM1,000 for RM800 (20% off).
  • Beer bucket of six bottles at Chukka, RM120 instead of RM141, until 19 December. Non-halal.

The e-store also sells room nights from RM630 (Standard, room only), but no discount is shown on those, so compare with the hotel's own booking site before buying.

The cash voucher catch

The cash vouchers look like the most flexible buy, but read the outlet list. They only work at Kampung, Italian Bistro and Sampan Bar. They do not cover Coals on the Beach, banquets, Bayou Spa, tobacco or takeaway. Each one must be used in a single transaction, and any balance left is forfeited.

So the cash voucher is not a way to make the BBQ cheaper. It suits a family having dinner at Kampung or Italian Bistro over a longer stay. A RM1,000 voucher spent in one big meal is a real 20% off, but a RM1,000 voucher used for a RM600 dinner wastes RM400.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

Good for: Kuantan locals wanting a weekend beach dinner, groups who can spread the saving across several vouchers, and people staying at Teluk Cempedak who were going to eat at the hotel anyway.

Skip it if: your plans for the next three weekends are not fixed. The voucher is non-refundable and anything unused after 31 October is lost. Skip it too if the weather worries you. October falls just before the east coast monsoon, and Coals on the Beach is outdoors. Ask the hotel what happens to a booking if it rains.

Fine print that trips people up

  • No stacking. The voucher cannot be combined with other promotions, discounts or World of Hyatt benefits, and it does not earn points.
  • No refunds or extensions. Validity stops on 31 October 2026.
  • Original voucher only. Bring it with you, on your phone or printed.
  • Extras are separate. Drinks and anything outside the buffet are charged on top.
