> Quick view: as of 5 October 2026 Petrosains has no admission promotion running. The last one, the RM30 Chakri Palace voucher, ended on Malaysia Day, 16 September, and the four Merdeka offers ended on 31 August. The free KL Seni & STEM Festival outside at KLCC Esplanade finished on 4 October. What is left is the standing rate card (RM28 for a Malaysian adult on a weekday, RM32 at weekends), three closure Mondays to 16 November, and a membership with 15 partner perks, including 15% off at Chakri Palace until 31 July 2027.

Petrosains, The Discovery Centre sits on Level 4 of Suria KLCC. Through August and the first half of September it ran six promotion cards at once. Every one of them has now ended, and none was replaced.

The evidence is on Petrosains' own site. On 5 October we read the promotions index, the ticketing page, the site's post feed and the Instagram account's posts to 4 October. The Merdeka cards have been taken off the promotions index, and the only card left is the February Bank Muamalat draw below. Nothing has been posted in the promotions or member-perk categories since 13 August; the only new post is the KLSSF festival page of 29 September. The ticketing page itself has not been edited since 29 January, so prices and closure dates are exactly as they were. There is no October admission offer anywhere.

So this is now a guide to visiting Petrosains without a deal: what it costs, which days to avoid, the festival Petrosains is running outside its own doors, and the one place a discount does still exist.

What ended, and when

  • Petrosains X Chakri Palace KLCC, 15 August to 16 September 2026. Buy an adult admission ticket, get a RM30 voucher for Imperial Chakri Palace on the same floor. Its last day was Malaysia Day.
  • Dress Up, Save More, the RM69 family package for two adults and two children in Merdeka attire, against a RM94 rate. Ended 31 August 2026.
  • Curiosity Unites Us, the Merdeka show and workshops, 29 to 31 August 2026.
  • Sale Kaw Kaw: Merdeka Edition, up to 40% off merchandise, 24 to 31 August 2026. It ran at the Sky Shop in PETRONAS Twin Tower Sky Xperience, not inside Petrosains.
  • Celebrate Merdeka Together at Petrosains, the umbrella card for the above.

The one card still on the index, Swipe & Save with Bank Muamalat, offers a fortune-ball draw for every RM99 spent at the XPLORASI gift shop. It publishes no campaign period, it was posted on 12 February 2026 in Chinese New Year language, and it is now the only card left on the page. Do not plan a RM99 spend around it without asking the gift shop first.

What a visit costs now

The rate card on the Admission & Ticketing page has not changed this year; the page was last edited on 29 January 2026. Science Centre admission, Malaysian MyKad or MyKid holders:

  • Adult (13 to 60): RM28 on weekdays, RM32 on weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
  • Child (3 to 12) and senior (61 and above): RM13 weekdays, RM15 at the higher rate.
  • Under 3: free.

General admission, for visitors without a MyKad, is RM49 / RM56 for an adult and RM28 / RM35 for a child or senior. MyKad or MyKid must be shown at entry, and anyone who bought the wrong category pays the difference.

Weekday hours are 9.30am to 5.30pm with last admission at 4pm. Weekends, public holidays and school holidays run 9.30am to 7.30pm with last admission at 6pm. That 4pm weekday cut-off is the one that catches people.

Petrosains is cashless. Online tickets go through eticket2.petrosains.com.my and must be bought at least 24 hours ahead; Klook and Traveloka tickets need one day's notice too. Groups of 20 or more book through 03-2331 8181.

The rest of 2026, date by date

For Kuala Lumpur and Selangor families there is no school holiday until 4 December, so almost every weekday until December is charged at RM28. The exceptions are the closure Mondays and three days in November.

  • Closed: Monday 19 October, 2 November and 16 November. (Monday 5 October, today, is closed too.) Petrosains shuts on the first and third Monday of each month and has published dates only as far as 16 November.
  • Open Mondays: 12 October, 26 October, 23 November and 30 November trade normally at the weekday rate.
  • 8 to 10 November: Deepavali falls on Sunday 8 November. Because it is a Sunday, Monday 9 November is the replacement public holiday in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor under the Holidays Act, and the Ministry of Education gives KL and Selangor schools Tuesday 10 November off as well. All three days are charged at the RM32 holiday rate with the longer 7.30pm closing. Monday 9 November is not a closure Monday.
  • From Saturday 5 December: the KL and Selangor year-end school break runs to 31 December, so every open day is RM32. December's closure Mondays are not published yet.

The practical rule: any Tuesday to Friday between now and 4 December, except 10 November, gets you in at RM28. From 6 October that is 35 weekdays.

KLSSF 2026 has finished

The Kuala Lumpur Seni & STEM Festival 2026 ran from 2 to 4 October at KLCC Esplanade, 10am to 10pm, with free admission, as Petrosains' festival page confirmed on 29 September. The programme mixed Petrosains science shows with wayang kulit, dikir barat, Cantonese opera, a Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra quartet and evening concerts, and students could collect activity stamps for their PAJSK co-curricular points. Petrosains signed off on 4 October with a thank-you post.

There is no follow-up date. The festival page now says the next school holiday programme will be announced there, and the KL and Selangor year-end break starts on 5 December.

The Chakri Palace discount moved to members

The RM30 voucher ended on 16 September. The day before, Petrosains announced three new member-only dining perks, and one of them is at the same restaurant:

  • Imperial Chakri Palace, Suria KLCC: 15% off, valid until 31 July 2027. Lot 417B, Level 4, the same floor as Petrosains.
  • Bistro Kia Peng: 15% off lunch (12pm to 2.30pm) and 20% off tea time and dinner (3pm to 10pm), à la carte only, until 31 July 2027. It is inside Marriott Executive Apartments Kuala Lumpur City Centre.
  • Bunglow 37, Bangsar: 15% off dine-in, until 31 July 2027.

Put the numbers side by side. The old voucher was worth RM30 on any bill. A 15% discount only matches it on a RM200 bill. For a couple eating a RM120 Thai lunch, the member discount is RM18. For a family dinner of RM300, it is RM45, and it works every visit for ten months instead of once.

All 15 member perks, and when they end

The membership-promotions page lists ten partner cards, the site holds two more member cards that are not on that index, and the three dining perks above were added on 15 September.

Hotel stays

Each hotel offers special member room rates, and none publishes an RM figure, so ask for the Petrosains member rate when you book.

  • Wyndham Garden Shahzan Fraser's Hill, plus 15% at Puteri Teja Café, to 31 March 2027.
  • Shahzan Hotel Kuantan, plus 15% at Puteri Teja Restaurant, to 31 March 2027.
  • Trigo Hotel Kuala Lumpur, room rates only, to 31 March 2027.
  • Trinidad Suites Johor, daily and long-stay rates plus 15% at Kembali Terrace Restaurant, to 31 March 2027.
  • The Lisbon Melaka, plus 15% at Festa Restaurant, to 31 March 2027.
  • Isola KLCC, daily and long-stay rates, to 31 March 2027.
  • Ramada by Wyndham Langkawi Marina, plus 20% off the Sunset Dinner Cruise Langkawi, to 31 March 2027.
  • Ramada Suites by Wyndham KLCC, room rates only, to 31 March 2027.
  • The RuMa Hotel and Residences, plus 20% at all four of its dining outlets, to 31 May 2027.

Books, concerts and the gift shop

  • Kinokuniya Malaysia: 10% off at participating stores, to 14 July 2027.
  • Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS concerts: 15% off selected seating categories for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027. Show the membership QR card at the box office.
  • XPLORASI Petrosains Gift Shop: 10% off, not valid with other promotions.
  • The three dining perks above, all to 31 July 2027.

Membership also carries free entry to science centres worldwide in the ASTC reciprocal network, with one local exclusion: it does not cover Pusat Sains Negara.

Is membership worth it now?

Membership is RM35 for a child, RM80 for an adult and RM170 for a family of 2 adults and up to 3 children, valid 12 months, with unlimited visits to the main exhibition. The Energy Capsule is not included. The membership page has not been modified since 7 April 2026.

Two adults and two children pay RM94 at a weekend or school-holiday rate and RM82 on a weekday. So the family membership beats paying on the second weekend visit (RM188) and on the third weekday one (RM246). With no admission promotion running, that is now the only way to pay less than the rate card.

The perks change the maths for some families. One RM300 family dinner at Bistro Kia Peng saves RM60 at 20%; one RM200 meal at Chakri Palace saves RM30, the same as the old voucher. A household that already buys books at Kinokuniya or goes to DFP concerts can recover a slice of the fee without visiting Petrosains again.

One caution: the membership page's FAQ still gives RM75 as the cost of upgrading from individual to family, but RM80 plus RM75 is RM155, not the RM170 the same page charges. Budget from the price card.

The Energy Capsule, and its two prices

No offer, past or present, includes the Energy Capsule ride, and the ticketing page still prices it two ways. One table says a flat RM12 every day. The other says RM6 on weekdays, RM9 at weekends, public holidays and school holidays, and RM5 for school groups.

The Combo Package settles it: across every ticket category, Science Centre plus Energy Capsule costs exactly RM6 more on a weekday and RM9 more at the higher rate (Malaysian adult RM28 to RM34, RM32 to RM41; child RM13 to RM19, RM15 to RM24). So buy the Combo at the counter rather than adding the ride afterwards. It is never worse, and on a weekday it is half the RM12 table price. Unless admission is sold out, you need an admission ticket to buy the ride at all. The separate Maker Studio costs RM5 a person at the counter.

Who should go, and who should wait

Go on a Tuesday to Friday before 4 December if you just want the cheapest visit. RM28 an adult, RM13 a child, no school-holiday crowd, and the 4pm last admission is the only thing to plan around.

Do not count on a Deepavali weekday. 8, 9 and 10 November are all RM32 days, so a family of four pays RM94 rather than RM82.

Avoid 19 October, 2 November and 16 November. They are closure Mondays, and the doors will be shut.

Buy the family membership if you can see two weekend visits in the next year, or if Chakri Palace, Bistro Kia Peng, Kinokuniya or DFP concerts are already part of your routine.

Do not wait for another voucher. Petrosains has run festival promotions around Chinese New Year and Merdeka in 2026, but it has published nothing for the rest of the year. Even KLSSF, its biggest event of the autumn, came with no admission offer, and the year-end school break from 5 December is its RM32 season.
