Transferring a Car in Malaysia 2026: It Is RM137.80, Not RM130 — and Only Four of Carro’s Eight Centres Are Actually Open
Selling a used car privately costs far less in fees than most people assume, but the number almost every guide prints is wrong. The JPJ transfer is RM100 for a private vehicle and RM3 for a motorcycle, filed on mySIKAP. The inspection that must come first is quoted as RM30 and actually costs RM37.80 once the RM5 booking fee and 8% SST are added. Two things changed this year in the seller's favour: the inspection report is now valid for 120 days instead of 60, and Puspakom is no longer the only inspector. But Carro's eight announced centres are not all open — only four are, and all four are in the Klang Valley.
