> Quick view: eight Klang Valley caterers, all re-checked against their own websites on 28 August 2026. Five of them publish real per-pax prices. This piece collects those numbers, the minimum spends that decide whether you can use them, and the setup charges that are added afterwards.

The thing most catering guides get wrong

The standard line — including the earlier version of this article — is that Klang Valley caterers do not publish prices. That is only true of three of the eight below. Teaffani, WYK, Tasty Touch, Great Value and Perfect Match all put real per-pax figures on public pages. RunningMen, Big Onion and Joshijosh genuinely do not.

What actually makes them hard to compare is not secrecy. It is that the published numbers sit on three different tax bases, carry wildly different minimums, and exclude different things. A RM28.80 buffet and a RM42.80 buffet are not 49% apart once you add what each one leaves out.

What each caterer actually charges

Teaffani Catering publishes two separate rate cards. Its international buffet runs RM38 per pax for Set A (9 items), RM48 for Set B (11 items) and RM68 for Set 3 (13 items), all with a 50-pax minimum, plus a premium tier at RM118 per pax with a 300-pax MOQ — below 300 it becomes RM128, and it is not offered under 100 pax at all. Its canapé line is RM40 for Package A (8 items), RM58 for B (10 items) and RM78 for the premium C with ikura, caviar, scallop and abalone bites. Butler tray service adds RM15 per pax. Prices exclude SST. Its JAKIM certificate is Siri A104773.

WYK Catering publishes the widest card of anyone here. Buffet: Classic Delight RM42.80, Classic Harmony RM47.80, Classic Joyful RM52.80, Celestial Bloom RM78.80, Majestic Elegance RM83.80 and Noble Heritage RM88.80 per pax, with a Personalized Package from RM58++. Banquet: RM1,188, RM1,488 and RM2,088 per table of 10 — RM118.80 to RM208.80 a head. Its vegetarian Green Banquet is RM988 to RM1,188 per table of 10. Individual plated serving is RM158, RM188 and RM228 per pax. And its Party Box mini-buffet starts at RM318 for 5 pax (RM588 for 10), rising to RM358 and RM668 for the Mega set. WYK also holds ISO 22000 alongside its halal certification — not only Big Onion, as this article previously implied.

Tasty Touch Catering publishes a fully coded menu. Thirty bento codes run from RM8.00++ (LB26 and LB27, soto ayam sets) through RM13.50++, RM16.00++ and RM18.00++ up to RM26.50++, minimum 15 pax per menu. Twelve lunch and dinner presets run RM27.00++ (DL11, Malay) to RM58.00++ (DL07, Western), minimum 30 pax. Three international buffet sets are RM77.00++, RM80.00++ and RM87.00++. It also offers mix-and-match customisation within a stated RM15 to RM45 per person band. Every figure is quoted "++" — the page says prices are subject to SST *and other applicable service charges*, without stating the service charge rate, so these are pre-tax numbers you cannot convert precisely.

Great Value Catering lists five fusion buffet tiers in its 2026 lunch and dinner menu: Package A RM28.80, B RM32.90, C RM43.90, D RM60 and E RM72 per pax, minimum 10 pax. Cordial drinks add RM6 per pax and iced matcha latte RM10; a vegetarian add-on set and a dessert set are RM120 each. Note the operator contradicts itself on delivery: its website FAQ says RM50 for buffet and RM30 for packed food, while the 2026 menu PDF uploaded in May says RM60 for KL and Selangor. Confirm which applies when you order.

Perfect Match Catering publishes "from" prices on its Merdeka page: Hi-Tea Buffet from RM36 per person, Merdeka Theme Buffet from RM45, and Lunch/Dinner Buffet from RM65, all with a 50-pax minimum. Its own site now trades as Perfect Match Catering Sdn Bhd (202401042529 / 1588374-D).

RunningMen, Big Onion and Joshijosh publish nothing. All three were swept page by page during this check and carry no RM figure anywhere. Joshijosh's "Shop" link leads to an Oddle pre-order storefront that currently returns *"Sorry, this Shop is currently closed"* — so its menu packages are enquiry-only in practice as well as on paper.

What the per-pax price does not include

This is where the ranking changes.

Hot-holding is an extra. Great Value's RM28.80 gets you food in disposable trays. A buffet warmer setup is +RM300 flat, whether you are feeding 10 people or 100. On a 10-pax order that more than doubles the bill.

Below the minimum, manpower is billed separately. Teaffani will serve fewer than 50 pax, but then charges RM160 per server for a 3-hour event or RM220 per server for 4 to 8 hours, with a minimum of two servers for the first 50 pax and one more per additional 50. Its canapé line adds a flat RM600 handling charge below 50 pax.

Transport is rarely included. Teaffani charges from RM130 within the Klang Valley and from RM400 to Cyberjaya, Putrajaya or Port Klang, and from RM300 on its premium buffet. WYK charges by distance, waiving it only on Corporate Party Box orders above RM1,200 within KL/PJ.

Crockery is an upgrade. Teaffani's packages come with bio-disposable ware; melamine is RM4 per pax and porcelain RM8 (RM3 and RM6 on the premium buffet).

And the tax base differs. Tasty Touch prints "++". Teaffani prints "excluding SST". Great Value and most WYK packages print flat. Comparing the headline numbers directly will mislead you by roughly the SST and service charge, which is exactly where a tight quote is won or lost.

The minimum spends nobody advertises

Minimum *headcount* is easy to find. Minimum *spend* is the one that quietly rules operators out.

WYK's corporate buffet carries a RM1,500 per session floor within KL/PJ — reasonable. But its Banquet Service and Individual Serving both carry a RM28,000 minimum spend before tax. Work that back: at RM1,188 per table you need about 24 tables, roughly 240 guests, before the advertised price is even available. At RM158 per pax plated, you need about 178 guests. Its Fusion Morsel Selection needs RM3,000 and at least 30 units per item. Deposits are RM3,000 for banquet and plated bookings, RM2,000 for buffet, and full payment for Party Box.

Teaffani's floor is RM1,500 excluding SST per event, and it will accept as few as 20 guests provided the bill clears that — subject to management approval. But for anywhere beyond a 40km radius of its central kitchen, including Janda Baik and Bentong, the minimum spend jumps to RM20,000 per event. Its deposit is RM2,000.

Two worked examples

A 10-pax office lunch delivered in KL. Only two of the eight will take the order at all. Great Value Package A is 10 × RM28.80 = RM288, plus RM50 delivery, so RM338 — but in disposable trays. WYK's Party Box Delight for 10 pax is RM588 plus a distance-based transport fee. Tasty Touch cannot quote, because its bento minimum is 15 pax per menu; Teaffani and Perfect Match both sit above you on headcount. Note the twist: add Great Value's RM300 buffet warmer and it becomes RM638, which is now dearer than WYK's RM588. If you are happy with trays, Great Value wins by RM250. If you want chafing dishes, WYK wins.

A 50-pax corporate buffet in a KL office. Tasty Touch DL11 is 50 × RM27.00++ = RM1,350++, the cheapest headline but before SST and service charge. Great Value Package A is RM1,440 + RM50 = RM1,490 flat, warmers extra. Perfect Match's hi-tea is from RM36, so from RM1,800. Teaffani Set A is RM1,900 + transport from RM130 = RM2,030 before SST. WYK Classic Delight is RM2,140. That is a spread of nearly 60% on identical headcount, and the order changes again once you decide whether you need servers, warmers and porcelain.

The cancellation terms are worse than you expect

WYK publishes the strictest terms of the eight, and they are worth reading before any deposit goes out. Bookings are strictly non-refundable, postponement is not allowed, and force majeure is explicitly not a refund event — the listed examples include rain, storm, flood, haze, fire, pandemic, government movement restrictions, road closures and even cancellation by the venue's own management. For outdoor events, wet-weather contingency is the organiser's responsibility; rain on the day does not entitle you to cancel or claim. Balance payment is due seven days before the event, and a further 48 hours after a written reminder forfeits everything paid.

That is not unusual in the trade — food, manpower and logistics are committed in advance — but WYK is the only one here that spells it out. Assume something similar applies elsewhere unless a contract says otherwise, and buy your own wet-weather cover for any outdoor booking.

How to pick, in order

  1. Fix the non-negotiables. Halal certification level, ePerolehan registration if public money is paying, and dietary requirements. These eliminate more than half the market before price enters the conversation.
  2. Check the minimum spend, not just the minimum pax. A RM1,188 table you cannot buy fewer than 24 of is not a RM1,188 table.
  3. Normalise the tax base before comparing. Convert every quote to the same footing — including SST and any service charge — or you are comparing two different numbers.
  4. Price the setup separately. Warmers, servers, crockery, tables, skirting and transport are the difference between a headline and a bill.
  5. Get the overtime rate in writing. Teaffani publishes RM25 per server per hour beyond three hours and RM50 after midnight. Most do not publish anything, which is precisely why you should ask.
  6. Book early. Wedding season, Raya, Christmas, Chinese New Year and the November-to-January annual-dinner window are all capacity-constrained.

Two honest caveats

Impersonation is a live problem in this category. Perfect Match Catering carries a standing public notice on its own homepage about an entity using its company name, menus and event photos to sell services, and states it has filed a police report. Before paying any deposit, confirm the phone number and bank account against the operator's own website — never against a WhatsApp forward or a social media DM.

Published promo pages go stale. Teaffani maintains a live `/promotion` page, but the offer on it — 30% off published standard packages, minimum spend RM2,000, first two bookings only — was valid for 24 November 2025 and has been expired for nine months. No verified, currently-dated promotion was found on any of the eight operators' own channels during this check. Tasty Touch does advertise a standing RM50 voucher for first-time users of its online event planner, with no stated expiry, which makes it a standing offer rather than a dated promo.
