JB's Relocation Market Runs on Three Very Different Kinds of Moves

Johor Bahru's relocation and storage market looks nothing like the Klang Valley's. Alongside ordinary within-city house and office moves, JB carries two things KL doesn't have at the same scale: a genuine, decades-old Singapore-JB cross-border corridor (Causeway traffic and customs clearance included), and a sprawling industrial belt — Tebrau, Pasir Gudang, Senai, Nusajaya's SILC — where entire factories and heavy machinery need moving, not just household furniture. Self-storage, by contrast, is still a young category here: several national brands with multiple Klang Valley branches haven't yet opened a JB facility at all, which shapes this list more than it might for a KL edition.

This list covers seven operators verified as currently trading via their own websites and, where their own site wasn't independently reachable this run, cross-checked against multiple independent sources (business directories, official social pages, or a partner facility's own confirmation) during this research: five movers and two self-storage providers.

The Movers — Cross-Border, Local, and Industrial

MoverJB, founded in 1998 by the Wong family and now with 25+ years in the trade, is one of the more established names running the Singapore-JB corridor specifically — it opened a Singapore office in 2003, handles customs clearance on both sides of the Causeway, and offers same-day delivery between SG and JB (up to two days for outstation jobs beyond the immediate JB area), plus short- and long-term storage add-ons. Crown Relocations, part of the global Crown Worldwide network, runs a proper Johor office inside Nusajaya's SILC industrial park (Jalan SILC 3) rather than a KL office covering JB by phone — its focus skews corporate and expatriate, with home and school searches, immigration support and international shipping alongside the physical move. LM Trust Movers, established in 2012 and based around Skudai, covers the Perling-Bukit Indah-Gelang Patah corridor plus outstation and Singapore border-crossing jobs, running 24/7 including Sundays and public holidays, with separate Malaysian and Singapore contact numbers reflecting its cross-border client base. Gooday Mover, founded in 2009, is a JB-based generalist handling household, office, factory, shop, restaurant and event moves, with packing, disposal of old furniture and warehouse storage among its listed services. Southern Machinery Movers, trading since December 1996 out of Taman Mount Austin, is the outlier on this list in the best way — a specialist in relocating heavy plant equipment and entire factories, useful specifically because of how much industrial-park activity JB and Iskandar Malaysia carry that a household-focused mover simply won't touch.

The Self-Storage Operators — A Smaller, Newer Field

Self-storage in JB is a noticeably thinner market than movers. storage.my operates air-conditioned, air-filtered facilities in Iskandar Puteri (Eco Galleria) and Johor Bahru city (Komtar JBCC), with a fully digitalised booking process and unit options running from small pigeonhole lockers up to larger storage rooms — its own facility partner has described it as the only dedicated self-storage operator physically present in JB. StoreGuru runs a facility in Gelang Patah, near the Tanjung Pelepas industrial corridor, as one of nine facilities it operates nationwide across KL, Selangor, Penang, Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Kuantan, with unit sizes reported from 25 up to 3,000 sq ft to suit both personal and small-business storage needs.

What We Left Out

Several Klang Valley self-storage brands used in our KL movers-and-storage list (StorHub Malaysia, Extra Space Asia, Lock+Store, Cube Self Storage) do not currently have a Johor Bahru facility — Extra Space Asia's leadership has spoken publicly about eventually expanding into Johor, but we found no evidence any of the four has actually opened here yet, so none appear on this JB list. We also excluded the KL-based movers from that same list (Mover2U, Smart Movers, LalaPacker, EazyMover2u); several of them list Johor as a coverage area on their own sites, but that's a delivery destination from a Klang Valley base, not a distinct JB operation, and we wanted this list to reflect operators genuinely rooted in the JB/Iskandar market. A handful of other names came up in search — including a storage listing advertised only through Facebook Marketplace posts with no dedicated company website — but without a verifiable business presence we left them out rather than guess.

A Note on Pricing

Only StoreGuru's unit-size range is quoted above, and it's a size figure rather than a price. None of the operators on this list had a fixed, publicly quoted rate card we could independently confirm this run — moving costs depend on volume, distance and floor/lift access, while storage rates vary by unit size and lease length — so contact each operator directly for a current quote rather than assuming a number from a review site.
