Moving in the Klang Valley isn't just a lorry and two guys
Between condo lease turnovers, upgrading from an apartment to a landed home, and offices relocating within the Golden Triangle or out to cheaper Petaling Jaya addresses, the Klang Valley has one of the busiest relocation markets in the country — and one of the most fragmented, with everything from one-truck outfits to established regional players competing for the same jobs. Two categories tend to get lumped together but solve different problems: movers handle the physical shifting of your belongings from point A to point B, while self-storage operators give you somewhere to keep things you don't want to move at all — furniture between leases, business inventory, seasonal items, or the overflow from downsizing.
This list covers eight operators currently trading in KL and Selangor, verified via their own websites during this research: four movers and four self-storage providers.
The movers
Mover2U, based in Seri Kembangan, runs a fleet of lorries from 1 to 5 tonnes fitted with tail lifts, and covers house moves, office relocations, storage and lorry rental across KL, Selangor, Penang, Johor and Melaka. Smart Movers has been in the relocation trade for over a decade, working across KL, Klang Valley and Penang with packing, warehouse storage and insured moves, plus a wider lorry range (1, 3, 5 and 10-tonne) for bigger jobs. LalaPacker, also with more than ten years in Klang Valley, positions itself around full-service packing and handling — loading, unloading, warehousing, furniture dismantling and reassembly — for residential, office, event and retail-logistics moves. EazyMover2u, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, says it covers over 1,000 destinations across Peninsular Malaysia (it doesn't currently serve Sabah or Sarawak) and handles specialised jobs like piano moving and IT equipment relocation alongside standard house and office moves.
The self-storage operators
StorHub Malaysia runs five climate-controlled, 24/7-accessible facilities across the Klang Valley — including its flagship in KL's Golden Triangle and a newer branch on Jalan Ipoh directly opposite the MRT2 station — with unit sizes from 12 to 1,000 square feet, no security deposit, and month-to-month terms. Extra Space Asia describes itself as Malaysia's largest self-storage provider, founded in 2007, with four facilities across KL and Petaling Jaya offering climate control and round-the-clock CCTV. Lock+Store operates three Klang Valley locations — Ampang (inside The AmpWalk), Glenmarie in Shah Alam, and Petaling Jaya — with 24/7 CCTV and keycard access, plus free use of trolleys and ladders for moving items in and out. Cube Self Storage runs facilities in Petaling Jaya (Seksyen 51A) and Glenmarie, Shah Alam, with unit sizes from 16 to 250 square feet, climate control and a smart access system.
Mover, storage, or both
If you're moving straight from one home to another with no gap, a mover alone usually covers it. If there's a gap between move-out and move-in — a common situation with condo handovers and renovations — several of the movers above (Mover2U, Smart Movers) also offer their own storage add-ons, while going directly to a dedicated self-storage operator tends to give more flexibility on unit size and access hours. None of the pricing above is quoted where it wasn't published on the operator's own site, since moving and storage rates depend heavily on volume, distance, floor access and lift availability — get an actual quote before assuming a number from a review site.
