Malaysian sun is hard on car paint. Months of UV, acid rain, bird droppings and tree sap under a mamak-side angsana leave clear coat dull and faded, which is why ceramic coating has gone from a luxury-car extra to a common request on a new Myvi. The problem is that coating prices in the Klang Valley run from under RM400 to several thousand ringgit, and the price lists use the same few words (9H, 10H, graphene, layers, warranty) to mean quite different things.

We read the published price lists of six Klang Valley detailers on 20 October 2026: on their own websites, their online stores and, for one, its package page. Five publish ringgit prices. Ceramic Pro, the best-known international brand here, quotes coating prices only on enquiry, and we include it because many people will ask for it by name. We left out shops that publish no prices or could not show a working address. None of the six states whether prices include SST, so ask.
What you are actually paying for
Paint correction is most of the labour. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, swirl marks included, so every package here starts with a wash, iron removal or clay bar, and a polish. The number of polishing steps matters. NINE Labz prices a 3-step polish alone at RM349 and a 6-step polish with wax at RM599. M8 charges RM250 for a 1-step polish and RM350 for a 3-step. A cheap coating package with a 1-step polish on a five-year-old car will lock in the scratches.
9H and 10H are marketing, not a standard. The "H" figures borrow from pencil hardness tests. Within one shop's list, the 10H tier is the better product. Comparing 9H at one shop with 10H at another tells you very little.
Layers and warranty years go together. G Guard sells 4, 6 and 8 layers with 4, 6 and 8-year warranties. Ceramic Pro sells 3, 6 and 10 layers with 3, 5 and 7 years. KL Tint Studio moves from 9H nano ceramic to 10H "Diamond" to graphene, with 1 to 8 years.
Car size changes the bill. G Guard adds RM200 for each size step from M (Myvi, City, Civic, Vios) to L (X70, HR-V, Camry) to XL (Alza, CR-V, Alphard). Fresh Car Wash charges about 50% more for a van than for a city car.
Warranty conditions differ sharply. G Guard says no scheduled maintenance is needed to keep its warranty. Ceramic Pro's aftercare page says a brush car wash voids it, and you should not wash the car for the first week. KL Tint Studio includes free yearly checks.
For comparison: a full-car wax at NINE Labz is from RM119 and lasts weeks, not years. Paint protection film (PPF), the clear plastic film that resists stone chips, costs far more: G Guard lists a full car at RM10,800 to RM17,800.
Questions to ask before you pay
- Is this price for my car's size, or a "from" price?
- How many polishing steps are included, and will you correct swirls or only clean?
- What exactly voids the warranty: automatic washes, missed maintenance, a body-shop repair?
- Are the free maintenance sessions included, and how many?
- How long do you need the car? Answers range from four hours to two days.
- Is SST included?
How to pick
- New car, tight budget: M8's RM399 to RM799 packages include the polish and a wash, which is all a new car's paint needs.
- You want the price fixed by car size before you visit: G Guard publishes M, L and XL prices online and you can pay a deposit on its store.
- You want a long warranty with yearly checks: KL Tint Studio's Premium (RM1,599, 3 years) or Elite (RM2,199, 5 years).
- Older car with swirl marks: budget for a multi-step correction. NINE Labz's coating packages start at RM899, and its polish menu shows what deeper correction costs.
- You want the brand name: Ceramic Pro, but ask for a written quote for your model before you book.
