The Decathlon corner stays open on Level 2. The live discount is Decathlon's online Payday ladder (to 30 September, back 24-31 October), but delivery to Sarawak costs RM25 under RM300, so for small baskets the Emart counter is the better buy.

What happened on the opening weekend

Decathlon's own store list names no branch in Sarawak or Sabah, so for years Kuching shoppers either ordered online or bought their running shoes and camping gear on trips to KL. That changed on 4 July 2026, when Emart announced on Facebook that "the first official reseller Decathlon in Sarawak" had opened at Emart King Centre in Kuching. On 25 September Emart posted that Decathlon "has once again chosen Emart as retail partner", this time at Emart Taman Berlian, Level 2.

The opening offer ran on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September 2026, 8am-10pm: spend at least RM88 and get a free 30L backpack, capped at 120 bags a day, while stocks last. The poster gave no model name; the bag pictured matched Decathlon's Quechua NH Arpenaz 100 30L, listed at RM59 on decathlon.my. That offer is now over, and none of Emart's posts from 25 to 28 September announce a second Decathlon promotion. Emart's next big event is the opening of Emart Express at Keningau Mall, Sabah, on 2 October, which does not involve Decathlon.

What the Taman Berlian corner sells

Emart Taman Berlian is the supermarket group's 19th store. It opened on 22 May 2026 in Kota Samarahan with two floors: groceries and fresh food downstairs, and non-food departments upstairs. The Decathlon section sits on the upper floor. Emart's opening photos show Decathlon-branded aisles for balls and racquet sports, hiking and camping (including a pitched tent), caps and hats, men's shorts and trousers, bags, and a full wall of shoes.

It is a reseller section, not a Decathlon store. Decathlon's own stores offer free membership with 365-day returns and free Click & Collect. Nothing we found says those returns or member points apply to purchases at Emart, and Click & Collect is not possible because there is no Decathlon store in Sarawak to collect from. Keep your receipt and ask Emart how exchanges work.

Counter or decathlon.my? The shipping maths

Decathlon's Payday campaign is the only live Decathlon discount. Its terms say it applies only to purchases on www.decathlon.my and the Decathlon app, from 00:00 on the 24th to 23:59 on the last day of each month. The current window is 24-30 September 2026; the next is 24-31 October 2026. The tiers, on one transaction:

  • RM150 → RM8 off (5.3%)
  • RM250 → RM15 off (6%)
  • RM450 → RM30 off (6.7%)
  • RM650 → RM45 off (6.9%)
  • RM850 → RM60 off (7.1%)

Delivery is where Samarahan differs from KL. Decathlon's delivery page charges RM5 under RM150 in West Malaysia but RM25 under RM300 in East Malaysia, with free delivery from RM300. It quotes 7 to 12 days to East Malaysia, while its FAQ warns of 7-20 business days and possible freight delays.

Worked examples, assuming the Emart shelf price matches decathlon.my (Emart publishes no shelf prices online, so check a tag first):

  • A RM150 basket (say, a pair of school shoes and a football): online it costs RM150 − RM8 + RM25 = RM167. At the Emart counter it costs RM150, today. Buy at Emart.
  • A RM250 basket: online RM250 − RM15 + RM25 = RM260. At Emart RM250. Still Emart.
  • A RM300 basket (a tent and a sleeping bag for a Santubong weekend): online RM300 − RM15, free shipping = RM285. At Emart RM300. Online saves RM15, if you can wait one to three weeks.
  • A RM450 basket: online RM450 − RM30 = RM420, a RM30 saving over the counter.

There is also an App Exclusive route with the same five tiers, but it needs voucher codes collected in a Decathlon store. With no Decathlon store in Sarawak, Samarahan shoppers cannot realistically use it; the Emart counter is a reseller and nothing says it hands out those codes.

Emart's own offers you can stack in-store

  • 21st Anniversary lucky draw, until 30 September 2026. Every single receipt of RM100 or more at any Emart Supermarket, Emart Express, Goceli or DEQLO outlet is one entry. Receipts go into the draw box for that week's draw, and undrawn receipts roll into a final grand draw in October 2026. The terms do not say whether a receipt from the Decathlon section counts, so ask before paying; if it does, a RM100 Decathlon basket earns an entry that an online order never can.
  • Emart member points. Membership costs RM10 a year and earns 1 point per RM3, with 500 points = a RM5 voucher. Emart is currently giving 300 free points to people who register online at member.emart.my from 25 September, a campaign it is promoting for the Keningau opening. Whether points accrue on Decathlon purchases is not stated.
  • Emart's monthly PWP. Spend RM120 in a single receipt to buy from Emart's purchase-with-purchase list; the September list names Taman Berlian among eligible outlets. A new list normally appears on the 1st of the month.

Who should buy where

  • Buy at the Emart counter if your basket is under RM300, you need the item this week, or you want to try shoes on. The RM25 East Malaysia shipping fee wipes out any Payday tier below RM300.
  • Buy on decathlon.my if you are spending RM300 or more, can wait up to three weeks, and want something the Emart corner does not stock (bikes and large equipment are unlikely to fit a supermarket upper floor). Time it for 24-31 October if you miss this month's window.
  • Skip both if you were only waiting for another free-gift weekend. None has been announced; follow @emartmalaysia on Instagram, where both Decathlon openings were first posted.
