Where the Merdeka contest stands now

The contest ran from 17 August to 17 September 2026. It is finished, and the code MERDEKA no longer does anything. The merdeka-2026 page still loads and still reads as if the campaign is running. Grab's own page record shows it was last edited on 18 August 2026 and never touched again, so a live-looking page is not evidence of a live promo.

The rules that matter now are the winner-handling ones, and they are specific:

  • How winners were picked. Valid entries were lined up by transaction time. The 100,000th, 200,000th and every 100,000th entry up to the 2,000,000th became a potential winner. It was a position draw, not a random one.
  • When you hear. Potential winners are contacted between 30 September and 30 October 2026, during 9am to 5pm Malaysian business hours, through in-app notification, push notification, phone call, SMS, email or direct message.
  • What you must do. Within 72 hours of notification: reply through the channel Grab names, supply any verification documents, and answer one true or false question. You get one attempt. Miss the window or the question and Grab can pick a replacement.
  • The prize. One RM5,000 Malaysia Airlines MHgiftcard each, RM100,000 in total, valid 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027, all cabin classes, but domestic Malaysian routes only.

As of 6 October, Grab has not posted a public winners list on its Malaysian site; no winners page appears in its sitemap. If you entered, the practical step is to keep Grab notifications switched on until 30 October and to treat any "you won" message with care: check it against your in-app inbox before you send documents anywhere.

The 10.10 Sale, 1-15 October: the main event

This is Grab's biggest live promotion this month, and it is a payments campaign, not a food one. The page, edited on 30 September, offers three things on its banner: up to RM20 off, up to 2x GrabCoins, and up to RM3,000 PayLater Protect.

The codes appear only in the artwork:

  • PAYLATER1010: RM20 off a minimum spend of RM200, paying with PayLater by Grab.
  • GP1010: RM5 off a minimum spend of RM200, paying with the GrabPay wallet.

The partner brands are also shown only as logos. The fashion panel alone lists Charles & Keith, Hani Mokhta, JD Sports, Running Lab, SK Jewellery, Bata, Batik Boutique, Buttonscarves, Converse, ECCO, Khatam, Levi's, Love & Co, Mimpikita, Chuck's, Naelofar, Pedro, Poh Kong and Shoplooooh.

What Grab has not published

There is no written terms block on the 10.10 page. That means no stated per-user limit, no total redemption cap and no list of excluded items. Every other Grab campaign this month prints those inline. Treat the codes as first come, first served, and do not plan a big purchase around one being available on the 15th.

The arithmetic, including the PayLater fee

  • A RM200 basket with PAYLATER1010 drops to RM180, a 10% saving. That is the best case; above RM200 the RM20 shrinks as a percentage (RM20 on RM400 is 5%).
  • The same RM200 basket with GP1010 drops to RM195, a 2.5% saving.
  • The instalment trap. Grab's PayLater rate table charges 1.5% of the total per instalment on 4, 8 and 12-month plans, except 4 instalments at VIP brands, which are 0%. On a RM180 bill, 4 instalments at 1.5% each is RM10.80; 8 instalments is RM21.60, more than the RM20 you saved. Postpaid (next month) is 0%, so that is the way to keep the full discount.

GrabFood this month: Hot Deals, not Buy 1 Free 1

People arrive here looking for Kombo Jimat's Buy 1 Free 1. As of 6 October there is no October edition: the Kombo Jimat page was last edited on 21 September and still shows the 28-30 September run. In September Grab loaded it on the 18th for a 28-30 September run, so check again in the second half of October.

What is running on GrabFood now is Hot Deals, edited 1 October, at participating restaurants in every city, Wednesday to Sunday only:

  • RM5 off a minimum spend of RM25.
  • RM7 off a minimum spend of RM25.
  • RM12 off a minimum spend of RM50, made up of RM10 off plus 350 GrabCoins, which Grab values at RM2.33.

Each tier is good for two redemptions per account or device during the campaign. All payment methods work; Pickup and Dine Out do not. On a RM50 order the RM12 tier is worth 24%, but RM2.33 of that is coins you spend later, so the cash saving is RM10.

GrabMart: three October windows

  • Turbocharged Deals, 26 September-10 October. Up to 40% off selected skincare, snacks and drinks, built around the Sepang race weekend. Klang Valley only, no minimum spend, 3 transactions per user.
  • Sip Sip Hooray, 1-31 October. Up to 30% off lager, stout, mixers and bar snacks from selected merchants, 2 transactions per user. Grab restricts it to non-Muslims aged 21 and above.
  • Kombo Jimat on GrabMart, 18-24 October. The standing monthly window: buy 3 of the same selected item and get 30% off, with a redemption limit.

None of these work with Pickup.

Two long-runners worth setting up once

Watsons Club on GrabMart

Link your Watsons Club card at checkout and the same order earns Watsons points and GrabCoins. Grab moved the dates on 25 September: link between 23 September and 22 October for 1 point per RM1 plus 200 bonus points, then from 23 October to 22 November members get 2x Watsons points. Points land within a month.

A free month of GrabUnlimited on Mastercard

Until 31 December 2026, a GrabFood order of RM30 or more paid with a Mastercard credit card linked to Grab for the first time unlocks one month of GrabUnlimited. That turns on up to RM3 off GrabFood and GrabMart delivery, the Hot Deals tiers above, RM5 off airport GrabCar rides and 5% back in GrabCoins on Premium and advance bookings. One redemption per user.

Coming up: PayDay and the November 1 GrabCoins Sale

PayDay Deals, 25-31 October. Grab swapped the page banner on 5 October to read 25-31 October: RM10 off RM100 with PLPAYDAY10, one use per user. The written terms underneath still carry the September dates, so check the page again on the 25th before relying on it.

1 GrabCoins Sale, 1-5 November. October's round, which ran 1-5 October from 2pm daily, is over; it offered RM50 off Foot Locker in store on a RM500 spend, RM35 off Converse, and RM30 off iHerb, BIG Pharmacy and CARiNG Pharmacy online, each for one GrabCoin. The page bills it as the 1st to the 5th of every month, so November's brand list should appear around the 1st.

Who this is for, and who should skip it

Worth it if you already had a RM200 purchase planned at one of the 10.10 brands: pay with PayLater on Postpaid and the RM20 is a clean 10%. Hot Deals is worth it if you order delivery on weekends anyway.

Skip it if you would be spending to reach a minimum. RM200 for RM20 off is only a deal on things you were buying. And skip the instalment option on 10.10 purchases outside VIP brands, because the fee can cost more than the code saves.

If you only came for the contest: keep notifications on until 30 October. There is nothing else to do.

The fine print that trips people

  • Expecting MERDEKA to still work. The contest closed 17 September.
  • Missing a winner call. You have 72 hours from Grab's notification and one attempt at the true or false question.
  • Splitting a 10.10 purchase into instalments. 1.5% per instalment outside VIP brands; Postpaid is free.
  • Assuming 10.10 codes have stock to the 15th. Grab published no cap, so assume first come, first served.
  • Ordering Hot Deals on Monday or Tuesday. They run Wednesday to Sunday only.
  • Using Turbocharged Deals outside the Klang Valley. It does not apply.
  • Waiting for Kombo Jimat Buy 1 Free 1. No October date has been published.
  • Trusting a Grab page title or byline. Kombo Jimat's title still says August and PayDay Deals is bylined March 2025. Read the dates in the terms.

How to check any of this yourself

Grab has no promo index page. Its sitemap at grab.com/my/sitemap.xml lists every page with a last-modified time; sorted newest first, the top entries are the campaigns Grab is working on this week. That is how the 10.10, Turbocharged and Sip Sip Hooray pages surfaced here. Then read the terms block under each banner. When a page has no terms block at all, as with 10.10, the artwork is all there is.
