> Both recent editions have ended. The RM9 Moana screening ran on Saturday 8 August 2026, and GSC repeated the format with Kung Fu Soccer on Saturday 12 September 2026. As of 13 September 2026, GSC has not announced the next Seniors at the Movies date. The record of both is kept below; see "What seniors can book instead" for the discount that is live today.
What seniors can book instead (still live)
GSC's standing Special Ticket Prices for Kids / Senior Citizens / OKU promotion is on its promotions page year-round and needs no special event date:
- From RM12 per ticket (RM13 at some halls, depending on location)
- For senior citizens aged 55 and above — also covers kids and OKU cardholders
- Valid at 48 participating GSC cinemas nationwide, including GSC Mid Valley Megamall, GSC 1 Utama, GSC Pavilion KL and GSC Queensbay Mall
- Online only — the special price is sold through GSC's e-payment ticketing site or the GSC mobile app, not promised at the counter
- NRIC or OKU registration card may be checked at the cinema
- Not valid on special screenings, concerts or live performance broadcasts, and it can't be stacked with most other offers
The RM9 Seniors at the Movies price is lower, but it only appears when GSC runs one of these one-day editions — roughly monthly through 2026 (April, June, July, August and September editions all ran at RM9 with a free health screening). There is no published schedule. The August (8th) and September (12th) editions both fell on the second Saturday of the month, which is a pattern, not a promise — GSC had not posted an October date as of 13 September.
RM9 vs the everyday senior ticket: the actual saving
- One senior: RM9 instead of RM12–RM13 saves RM3–RM4, plus a free bottle of mineral water or a hot tea
- A senior couple: RM18 instead of RM24–RM26 saves RM6–RM8, plus two drinks
- With the health check: at GSC Paradigm Mall or GSC The Starling you also get body composition, blood pressure and blood glucose readings — a basic screen, not a substitute for a clinic visit
The trade-off is flexibility. The everyday RM12–RM13 price works at 48 halls on most regular showtimes, for whatever film you want. The RM9 edition is one film, one date and one 11am showtime at six halls, and seats are limited. If the film on offer is not one you would watch anyway, the standing senior price is the better deal.
Who it suits, and who should skip
- Suits: seniors in PJ who want the free health check (only Paradigm Mall and The Starling run it), and retirees who are free on a Saturday morning and happy to go with GSC's pick of film
- Skip it if: you live outside PJ, KL, Penang or Ipoh (none of the six halls is in Johor, Sabah, Sarawak or the east coast), you want a specific film, or you are buying for companions under 55 — the RM9 is a senior ticket, so they pay normal prices
The September 2026 edition: Kung Fu Soccer (ended 12 Sep)
GSC's campaign poster for the second edition in this format confirms:
- Film: Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Soccer (功夫女足), which opened in Malaysian cinemas on 13 August 2026 — so this was a month-old release, not a premiere
- Date: Saturday, 12 September 2026 — 10am health screening, 11am movie
- Price: RM9 each, with a free drink (mineral water or hot tea) for every senior ticket
- Halls: the same six as August — GSC Paradigm Mall PJ and GSC The Starling Mall PJ (both starred for the health check), GSC 1 Utama PJ, GSC Setapak Central KL, GSC Gurney Plaza Penang and GSC AEON Mall Falim Ipoh
- GSC's e-payment site listed it as a separate "(Senior Special) Kung Fu Soccer" title, apart from the film's normal showtimes
Some third-party write-ups of this edition dropped GSC Setapak Central from the list; the GSC poster includes it.
The August 2026 edition: Moana (ended 8 Aug)
- RM9 per senior ticket for a special screening of the live-action Moana
- A free drink — mineral water or hot tea — with every senior ticket purchased
- A free basic health screening beforehand — body composition, blood pressure and blood glucose checks, at selected locations
- Schedule: health screening from 10am, movie screening at 11am
- One day only — Saturday, 8 August 2026
Where you can book
Six GSC cinemas were listed on the August campaign poster (September used the same six). The two marked with an asterisk are the halls running the free health screening:
- GSC Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya — health screening
- GSC The Starling Mall, Petaling Jaya — health screening
- GSC 1 Utama, Petaling Jaya
- GSC Setapak Central, Kuala Lumpur
- GSC Gurney Plaza, Penang
- GSC AEON Mall Falim, Ipoh
Why this looks genuine
The August screening was an edition of GSC's recurring Seniors at the Movies program, which pairs a discounted RM9-RM11 senior ticket with a free drink and a free basic health check — run in past months with other films (a Cantonese comedy in January, a re-run in June, another in July). GSC's own site lists this specific showtime as a "(Senior Special) Moana" screening, distinct from Moana's normal box-office run. The campaign poster for this 8 August edition confirms the RM9 senior price, the 10am health screening, the 11am movie time, the free mineral-water-or-hot-tea entitlement and the full six-cinema list, and matches GSC's own dedicated special-screening ticket page for Moana.
Fine print
- Each edition is a single day, single screening — not an ongoing ticket discount, so it didn't apply to Moana's or Kung Fu Soccer's regular showtimes
- It runs under GSC's Seniors at the Movies banner, so the RM9 price is a senior ticket, not general admission — check the ticket page or call ahead if you're booking for someone who isn't a senior
- The free health screening is only at selected locations — the poster stars GSC Paradigm Mall and GSC The Starling in Petaling Jaya. The other four cinemas are showing the film at RM9 without the health check
- The free health screening is a limited, first-come slot before the 11am showtime — arrive early if you want it done before the movie starts
- The free drink is tied to the senior ticket purchase — one mineral water or hot tea
How to catch the next edition
- GSC announces each edition on its Facebook page and lists it in its e-payment ticketing site as a separate "(Senior Special)" film title
- Book early — special one-day screenings like this have limited seats per hall
- If the health check is what you're after, book GSC Paradigm Mall or GSC The Starling specifically and arrive by 10am
- The event ticket pages are taken down afterwards (GSC's Moana special page now returns a 404), so don't rely on old links
Check GSC's official promotions page and the standing senior ticket terms before you book.
