> Quick view: At its new Strand Mall outlet in Kota Damansara, Karaoke Manekineko charges RM10 per person for 3 hours in the daytime and RM20 at night, service charge and SST included, from 15 September to 31 October 2026. The chain's normal 3-hour rate at its other outlets is RM31 to RM45 per adult, so four friends on a Saturday afternoon pay RM40 instead of RM152. Weekends count. It only applies at Strand Mall.
Karaoke Manekineko is a Japanese karaoke chain that came to Malaysia in 2018. Its website now lists 19 outlets, from EkoCheras and Paradigm Mall to Alamanda Putrajaya and Nu Empire in Subang Jaya. The Strand Mall outlet in Kota Damansara is the newest, opening on Tuesday, 15 September 2026. Manekineko's own Facebook post and poster set out the grand opening price, and the brand's September rate cards are on its website. We read both so you know how big the discount really is.
How the promo works
- Pick a time band. Daytime runs 11am to 5:59pm and costs RM10 per person. Nighttime runs from 6pm until closing and costs RM20 per person. Both give you a 3-hour singing session.
- Book on +60 10-217 6988. In the post's comments, the brand confirmed you can WhatsApp that number to book in advance.
- Pay the poster price. It says "all price are inclusive SST 8% & 10% service charge", so RM10 is what you pay.
- Go any day. Asked "promotion can use on Saturday also?", the brand replied "yes, can use on weekends too".
The promotion runs until the end of October. The Facebook post gives the last day as 31 October 2026, a Saturday.
How much you actually save
Manekineko's September 2026 rate cards charge per person, per session length, with four packages. Option A is free-flow drinks only. Options B, C and D add RM7, RM12 or RM17 for snacks, a main meal or a party package. For a 3-hour Option A session at a normal outlet, an adult pays:
- Happy hour (11am-5:59pm), Monday to Thursday: RM31
- Happy hour, Friday to Sunday, eve of a public holiday and public holidays: RM38
- Normal hour (6pm to closing), Monday to Thursday: RM38
- Normal hour, Friday to Sunday, eve of a public holiday and public holidays: RM45
Children aged 7 to 12 pay RM24 for 3 hours in every band, and children aged 6 and below are free. Members, students and seniors get RM1 to RM7 off the adult rate, depending on session length.
Worked examples
Four friends, Saturday afternoon. At Strand Mall: 4 x RM10 = RM40. At a normal outlet: 4 x RM38 = RM152. You save RM112.
Four colleagues, Friday night after work. At Strand Mall: 4 x RM20 = RM80. At the standard weekend night rate: 4 x RM45 = RM180. You save RM100.
Two parents with kids aged 8 and 11, Sunday afternoon. If the children also pay RM10, the family pays RM40. The standard card would be 2 x RM38 + 2 x RM24 = RM124. The opening poster does not mention child pricing, so confirm when you book.
A student on a Tuesday. Manekineko's Student Package at 13 other outlets costs RM18 for 2 hours, Monday to Thursday only. The Strand Mall daytime price gives you an extra hour for RM8 less, and works on weekends too.
Night owls. The chain's "Midnight Shy-Shy" deal is RM9.90 per person per hour, Monday to Thursday from 11pm, at 13 outlets. Three hours of that costs RM29.70. The Strand Mall night price is RM20 for the same 3 hours.
For comparison, when Manekineko opened at Nu Empire earlier this year, its opening price was RM20 per person for 3 hours before service charge and SST. The Strand Mall daytime price is half that and already includes tax.
Who it suits, and who should skip it
It suits groups of friends, students and families in Kota Damansara, Mutiara Damansara, Sunway Damansara and Damansara Perdana, as long as you can go before 6pm. Weekend afternoons give the biggest saving per person: RM28, against the standard RM38. It also works for birthday groups, since the per-person price makes splitting the bill easy.
Skip it if you want a big private event. The website says the chain's VIP and studio rooms hold up to 30 and 50 people, and corporate and private events have their own enquiry page, so ask for a quote rather than assuming the opening price. It is also not worth a long drive if another Manekineko is near you and you only sing for an hour on a weekday afternoon. That hour costs RM16 at a normal outlet, so the saving is RM6 a head, less than most return Grab fares.
Fine print that trips people up
- Strand Mall only. None of the other 19 outlets on Manekineko's website are part of this promotion.
- The booking number is shared. Manekineko's own outlet page gives 010-217 6988 as the WhatsApp number for its Sunway Giza Mall outlet, also in Kota Damansara. Say "Strand Mall grand opening" when you message, or you may be booked into the wrong place at the normal rate.
- Drinks are not mentioned. Every standard package includes free-flow drinks, and the Nu Empire opening poster said so too. The Strand Mall poster only says "3 hours singing session". Ask whether drinks are included.
- Public holidays. Malaysia Day, Wednesday 16 September, falls on day two. The brand confirmed weekends but said nothing about public holidays, and on the standard card 15 September (the eve of a public holiday) and 16 September are charged at weekend rates. The RM10 poster sets no exclusions, but check if you plan to go on the 16th.
- Sessions that cross 6pm. A 2pm to 5pm booking is clearly daytime. For a 4pm start, which band applies is not stated.
- Past 3 hours. The poster does not price extra hours. Ask before you extend.
- Exact unit and closing time. Neither is published yet. The poster's photo shows the Manekineko sign on the mall's front facade.
- "T&Cs apply" is printed on the post, but no separate terms are published.
The promotion is on Karaoke Manekineko Malaysia's Facebook post, and the standard rate cards and outlet list are on karaokemanekineko.my.
