> Quick view, checked Wednesday 8 October 2026: Klang Valley karaoke has split into two pricing systems. Per-person chains (Manekineko, Loud Speaker, Neway's CEO outlets) bundle drinks and charge each singer. Per-room chains (Red Box, Mini Studio) charge for the room whatever the headcount. Which is cheaper depends almost entirely on how many of you there are and whether you want the free-flow drinks.

Karaoke prices in KL look cheap on a poster and add up fast at the counter. The headline figure is usually for one person, for the shortest session, at the quietest hour, before tax. We went to each brand's own rate cards, all read on 8 October 2026, and noted the date each card was published, because two of them have not been refreshed in a while.

How to choose a karaoke room in KL

Four things change the bill more than the brand does.

Per head or per room. Manekineko, Loud Speaker and Neway CEO multiply by the number of people. Red Box and Mini Studio charge for the room. Two people in a Red Box mini room on a weekday afternoon pay RM18 between them for an hour; two people at Manekineko pay RM32. Push the group to six and the maths flips, unless you were going to order drinks anyway.

The clock. Every brand has at least two price bands. The cut-off is 5pm at Loud Speaker and 6pm at Manekineko, Red Box and Neway. Loud Speaker adds an 11am-1pm "Early-K" band and a post-midnight band, and Neway runs a cheap lunch slot plus a midnight slot.

The day. Friday to Sunday, public holidays and the eve of a public holiday cost more everywhere. Treat a Thursday before a holiday as a weekend.

Nett or plus. A "++" price adds 10% service charge and then 8% SST, which works out to about 18.8% more. A RM30++ head charge is roughly RM35.64 at the till. Manekineko's cards say every price already includes both. Mini Studio adds SST only.

Our six picks

The six brands below all trade in the Klang Valley and publish their own rates. Loud Speaker, Loud Speaker 2.0 and Mini Studio belong to the same group (Ottotree), but each runs its own price list and format, so we compare them separately.

The Friday-night test

Four friends, Friday, 8pm, three hours, regular customers unless stated:

  • Loud Speaker, members: 4 x RM20++ = about RM95, free-flow drinks and ice cream included.
  • Red Box The Curve, small room for 3-4: RM118++ = about RM140, drinks extra.
  • Loud Speaker, non-members: 4 x RM30++ = about RM143.
  • Loud Speaker 2.0 at A Quiet Place, non-members: 4 x RM38++ = about RM181.
  • Manekineko, Option A: 4 x RM45 nett = RM180, free-flow drinks included.
  • Neway CEO Fahrenheit 88, normal hours: 4 x RM55++ = about RM261.

The gap between the first and last line is more than RM160 for the same evening, and the cheapest option needs a membership. Loud Speaker does not publish its membership fee, so ask at the counter before assuming the saving.

How to pick

For a cheap afternoon: Loud Speaker's Early-K or Monday Member's Day, or Manekineko's Happy Hour on a weekday. Students get their own rates at Loud Speaker (RM12 for 2 hours, weekdays before 5pm) and Neway CEO (RM13 at Fahrenheit 88's Happy Hour).

For two people: a per-room booth. Mini Studio's Duet booth is RM18+ an hour on weekdays and runs buy 1 free 1 from Monday to Thursday, and Red Box's mini room starts at RM18++ before 6pm.

For a big group with drinks: per-head chains with free flow, because the drinks are already in the price. Count heads first, then compare with a Red Box medium room plus what you would actually order.

For a birthday or company night: Red Box Plus at Pavilion or TRX, or Loud Speaker's VVIP rooms (minimum spend RM800-1,500++). Book ahead and ask for the deposit rule; Red Box asks 30% for VIP and VVIP rooms.

Always check: the rate card date, whether the outlet you want is on the promo list, and whether the price is per person or per room.
