> Quick view: KFC Malaysia is marking International Coffee Day (1 October) with a week of Buy 1 Free 1 coffee for its members, from 29 September to 6 October 2026. Pay for one a la carte coffee and the second, identical cup is free. It runs at KFC outlets nationwide that have a coffee counter. On KFC's own online menu prices, a pair of iced lattes comes to about RM5 a cup, and a pair of hot americanos to about RM3.25.

How the deal works

KFC announced the promo on its official Instagram on 28 September. The caption says that for International Coffee Day it is "beli 1 percuma 1" with every coffee purchase, only for KFC Members, valid 29 September to 6 October 2026, available across Malaysia and not applicable to Foodpanda, GrabFood or ShopeeFood orders. The campaign poster adds the fine print that matters: it is valid for a la carte coffee drinks at participating outlets serving coffee, including Arabica Special outlets, the free drink must be identical to the one you buy, and it is first come first served.

Step by step:

  1. Become a KFC Member first. Membership is set up in the KFC app or on kfc.com.my. Do it before you reach the counter, not while the queue waits behind you.
  2. Check the outlet serves coffee. Many KFC restaurants sell only soft drinks, Milo and tea. The deal only exists where there is a coffee menu.
  3. Order one a la carte coffee. A coffee that comes as part of a combo or breakfast set is not a la carte, so it does not trigger the free cup.
  4. The second cup is the same drink. Buy an iced latte, get an iced latte. You cannot pay for an americano and take a latte free.

KFC's own website already lists Buy 1 Free 1 versions of six drinks: Hot Americano, Iced Americano, Hot Latte, Iced Latte, Hot Cappuccino and the Iced Brown Butter Oat Latte. Plain Hot Coffee is not among the six on the online menu, so if that is your usual order, ask at the counter before assuming it counts.

What it costs: worked examples

These prices are from KFC's own online menu, checked on 30 September 2026. KFC prices can differ between outlets and between dine-in, takeaway and delivery, so treat them as a guide.

  • Iced Latte (12oz): the Buy 1 Free 1 pair is listed at RM9.99. Bought separately, one Iced Latte is RM10.49, so two would be RM20.98. You save about RM11 and pay roughly RM5 a cup.
  • Hot Americano (8oz): the pair is RM6.49, the price of a single cup. That is about RM3.25 a cup.
  • Iced Americano (12oz): the pair is RM7.49, against RM7.99 for one cup on the regular menu.
  • Hot Latte or Hot Cappuccino (8oz): each pair is RM8.99, against RM9.49 for a single cup.
  • Iced Brown Butter Oat Latte (12oz): the pair is RM9.49, the same as one cup at full price.

A week of office coffee. Two colleagues who each buy an iced latte every workday would normally spend about RM104.90 over five days (ten cups at RM10.49). Splitting a Buy 1 Free 1 pair each day brings that to about RM49.95, a saving of roughly RM55 between them.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

It suits pairs: two colleagues on a coffee run, a couple on a lunch break, parents who both need caffeine after the school drop-off. It also suits anyone happy to save the second cup for the afternoon slump.

Skip it if you order through a delivery app, since Foodpanda, GrabFood and ShopeeFood are excluded. Skip it too if you want two different drinks, or if your nearest KFC has no coffee counter. And if you would not otherwise buy coffee at KFC, a free second cup is not a saving, it is simply extra coffee.

Fine print that trips people up

  • Members only. Non-members pay the normal price. KFC's own post urges followers to "ajak bestie jadi Member KFC today", so expect the cashier or kiosk to check.
  • Identical drink. Same drink and same size. No mixing hot and iced.
  • A la carte only. A coffee inside a meal or breakfast combo does not count.
  • Participating outlets only. The poster says outlets serving coffee. Not every KFC does.
  • First come first served. Outlets can run out of milk or ice, especially in the morning rush.
  • Ends 6 October 2026. International Coffee Day itself is 1 October, but KFC's promo runs the whole week around it.
