> Quick view: Kia Malaysia launched "The Deal of Your Lifetime" on 15 October 2026, a RM40,000 customer cash rebate on every Kia Sportage variant it sells here, as long as the car is a 2026 year of make. You must book by 31 December 2026 and the car must be registered by the same date. Against Kia's official Peninsular price list, the rebate cuts the Sportage to between RM88,800 and RM138,800 before on-the-road charges. Kia's own poster says "priced from RM98,800", so confirm your exact price with the dealer.

What Kia is offering

Kia Malaysia's promotion page lists four Sportage variants, each with the same RM40,000 rebate:

  • Sportage 2.0G 2WD (year of make 2026)
  • Sportage 2.0G 2WD HI (year of make 2026)
  • Sportage 1.6T 2WD HI (year of make 2026)
  • Sportage 1.6T AWD HI (year of make 2026)

The booking window is 15 October to 31 December 2026, and registration must also be completed by 31 December 2026. Kia says bookings and registrations made outside this period are not eligible, and that terms and conditions apply.

A flat RM40,000 is a large cut for a C-segment SUV. On the base variant it is about 31% off the list price. On the top AWD variant it is about 22%.

What each variant costs after the rebate

These list prices come from Kia's own 2026 Sportage price sheet for Peninsular Malaysia (private registration). The "after rebate" figure is simply the list price minus RM40,000:

  • 2.0G 2WD: RM128,800 list, RM88,800 after rebate
  • 2.0G 2WD HI: RM138,800 list, RM98,800 after rebate
  • 1.6T 2WD HI: RM158,800 list, RM118,800 after rebate
  • 1.6T AWD HI: RM178,800 list, RM138,800 after rebate

Here is the wrinkle. Kia's campaign poster says the Sportage is "priced from RM98,800", which matches the 2.0G 2WD HI, not the cheaper 2.0G 2WD. The promotion page still names the 2.0G 2WD as eligible for the full RM40,000. That could mean the base 2.0G 2WD is in short supply, or that the poster simply rounds to the volume variant. Kia does not explain it. If the RM88,800 car is the one you want, ask the dealer whether they have 2026 stock and get the price written on your booking form.

East Malaysia buyers start from higher list prices: RM131,800, RM141,800, RM161,800 and RM181,800 for the same four variants. The promotion page does not limit the rebate to the Peninsula. If it applies in full, those become RM91,800, RM101,800, RM121,800 and RM141,800. Confirm with your Sabah or Sarawak dealer.

Worked example: the on-the-road figure

Kia's selling price includes excise duty, sales tax and standard accessories, but not plates, first-year road tax, registration or the ownership claim fee. Using Kia's own Peninsular figures for a private buyer:

2.0G 2WD HI: RM98,800 + RM50 plates + RM439.10 road tax + RM300 registration + RM50 ownership claim = RM99,639.10, before insurance.

1.6T 2WD HI: RM118,800 + RM50 + RM120 road tax + RM300 + RM50 = RM119,320, before insurance. The turbo 1.6 sits in a lower road tax band than the 2.0, so it costs RM319.10 less a year to renew.

Down payment check: at a 10% down payment, the 2.0G 2WD HI needs RM9,880 instead of RM13,880 at full list price. Your loan is also RM36,000 smaller, which cuts every monthly instalment for the whole tenure.

Company registration costs RM500 instead of RM300, and non-citizens pay a RM600 registration fee, according to the same price sheet. Insurance is extra. Kia's sheet gives a recommended sum insured of RM128,000 to RM178,000 depending on variant, so your premium is quoted on the pre-rebate value.

Which variant suits whom

Kia Malaysia's figures put the 2.0-litre petrol engine at 154hp and 192Nm, and the 1.6-litre turbo at 177hp and 265Nm.

  • 2.0G 2WD or 2.0G 2WD HI: for families who mostly drive in town and on highways and want the lowest monthly payment.
  • 1.6T 2WD HI: for buyers who drive with a full load, climb hills often or want stronger overtaking, without paying for all-wheel drive.
  • 1.6T AWD HI: the only all-wheel-drive Sportage here. It makes sense if you regularly drive on unsealed or flood-prone roads, or in East Malaysia's interior. Most city drivers will not need it.

Skip this deal if you need a seven-seater, since the Sportage has five seats. Also skip it if you cannot finish a loan application in time, because the registration deadline is fixed.

Fine print that trips people up

  • Registration by 31 December, not just booking. A booking on 28 December does not count if the car is not registered by 31 December. Bank approval, insurance and JPJ registration all take time, so book by early December at the latest.
  • Year of make 2026 only. The rebate is tied to 2026 stock. Ask the dealer to show the year of make on the booking form.
  • "Priced from RM98,800" versus RM88,800. As explained above, get the final price for your exact variant in writing.
  • Plates, road tax, registration and insurance are extra. The rebate comes off the selling price, not the on-the-road total.
  • Warranty is unchanged. Kia's price sheet states a 5-year or 150,000 km manufacturer warranty, whichever comes first.
  • Price list date. Kia's price sheet is dated 1 January 2026 and says prices can change without notice. Ask the dealer to confirm the list price on the day you book.
