> Quick view: LADA's Cashback Mai Langkawi runs 1 August-31 October 2026 and has three parts, not one — 50% cashback on Kuala Perlis-Langkawi RoRo ferry passenger fares, a free one-way Bestuba boat ticket to Pulau Tuba, and Buy 1 Free 1 offers from 26 participating hotels, attractions and tour operators. The ferry cashback is worth roughly RM21 an adult; several partner offers are worth more, and some of them require you to have arrived on that ferry.

The offer, in three parts

LADA (Lembaga Pembangunan Langkawi) launched Cashback Mai Langkawi - "Bayaq Satu, Free Satu!" alongside the MATTA Muslim Friendly Travel Fair (MFTF) 2026. It runs 1 August - 31 October 2026. Most coverage stops at the first component below; the campaign has three.

1. RoRo ferry cashback — the headline

  • 50% cashback on Kuala Perlis-Langkawi RoRo ferry passenger fares, paid into your bank account after the trip
  • Requires a round-trip ticket, with both legs on the Kuala Perlis-Langkawi RoRo route
  • Minimum 2-night stay in Langkawi, evidenced by a receipt
  • Malaysian citizens only, excluding anyone whose IC address is in Langkawi
  • For group bookings, one representative submits the whole group's claim

2. Free Bestuba boat ticket to Pulau Tuba

  • The ticket in is free — you pay only for the ticket out, on a coupon system
  • Route is Jeti Pelancongan Kuah to Jeti Pulau Tuba (scheduled service or private group), or Jeti Syed Omar to Jeti Pulau Tuba (private group only)
  • Minimum 1-night stay in Pulau Tuba, Lubuk Cempedak or Selat Bagan Nyiur, with a receipt
  • Open to visitors and to Langkawi residents — only residents of Pulau Tuba, Lubuk Cempedak and Selat Bagan Nyiur are excluded, so the Langkawi-resident bar on the ferry cashback does not apply here
  • Capped at one coupon claim per passenger
  • Run by Bestuba, the boat service of KOPTUBAS, the Pulau Tuba community co-operative founded in 2018 with 115 members, all island residents

3. Buy 1 Free 1 from 26 participating partners

  • 26 operators are listed on LADA's microsite: 8 travel agents, 9 places to stay, and 9 attractions and activity operators
  • Each sets its own version of Buy 1 Free 1 — pay 1 night get 1 night, buy 1 ticket get 1 ticket, buy 1 package get 1 package, or 50% off a second ticket
  • Booking is direct with the operator; LADA is the organiser and takes no payment
  • Not every Langkawi hotel or attraction takes part, and each partner sets its own terms, availability and cancellation policy

Where the RoRo actually lands

The RoRo is the vehicle ferry, and on the Langkawi side it does not dock at Kuah. It berths at Kompleks Dermaga Tanjung Lembung, Mukim Ulu Melaka — the address at which Langkawi Auto Express, Wantas Shipping and Langkawi Ro-Ro Ferry Services all run their Langkawi counters. Jeti Pelancongan Kuah, on the other side of the island, is the departure point for the separate Bestuba boats to Pulau Tuba, which sits about 5km and a 12-minute boat ride from Kuah. The Kuala Perlis crossing takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours, and four operators run it: Langkawi Auto Express, Wantas Shipping, Dibuk Cargo Services and Langkawi Ro-Ro Ferry Services.

How to claim

The two LADA-run components claim in completely different ways.

RoRo cashback — online, after the trip

  • Complete the trip: round-trip RoRo ticket plus a minimum 2-night Langkawi stay
  • Scan the campaign QR code and submit the claim online through Langkawi Port Sdn Bhd (LPSB)
  • Upload all four documents in one submission: MyKad, RoRo ferry ticket receipt, accommodation receipt and bank account details
  • Incomplete claims are cancelled automatically
  • Approved claims are credited to your registered bank account within 7 working days
  • All claims must be submitted by 31 October 2026

Pulau Tuba coupon — in person, no portal

  • Claim the free coupon directly at Jeti Pulau Tuba or Jeti Pelancongan Kuah
  • Keep the Pulau Tuba accommodation receipt as proof of the 1-night stay
  • Coordinated by KOPTUBAS, not LPSB, and subject to the same 31 October 2026 deadline

How much the 50% is really worth

The campaign quotes a percentage, so the ringgit depends on the fare you paid — and the fare depends on which of the four operators you book. The terms refund 50% of the passenger fare, while port charges and the fuel surcharge introduced on 20 April 2026 are billed on top and are not refunded. On Langkawi Ro-Ro Ferry Services' published table (updated April 2026):

  • Adult (12+): RM42 round-trip fare + RM8 port charge + RM2.10 fuel surcharge = RM52.10 paid, about RM21 back — an effective 40%, not 50%
  • Child (2-11): RM32 + RM4 + RM1.60 = RM37.60 paid, about RM16 back
  • Senior citizen (60+) or OKU: RM26 + RM8 = RM34 paid, about RM13 back
  • Infant (23 months and under): RM6 fare, about RM3 back
  • Booking Wantas instead: the adult round trip is RM44 and child/OKU RM34, so roughly RM22 and RM17 back
  • A family of two adults and two children: about RM148 in passenger fares and about RM74 back, on roughly RM179 paid all-in

Vehicles are excluded, and not merely unmentioned: the terms define the refund as 50% of the RoRo passenger ticket price. A sedan under 1500cc is a separate round trip of RM280 booked online or RM300 at the counter, plus RM42 port charge and RM14 fuel surcharge.

The partner offers are the bigger prize

RM21 a head will not decide anyone's holiday. The Buy 1 Free 1 partner deals will. The single best offer in the campaign pays RM120 in cash and does not require the ferry at all.

Who is actually on the list. LADA's microsite names all 26 partners, and they include the island's headline operators — not obscure ones:

These are the offers LADA has published terms for, best value first.

  • Tropical Charters, Langkawi Sunset Dinner Cruise — a flat RM120 cash back. Book the cruise at mystravels.com, and on the Passenger Details page enter the code SCTC120 in the "Mai Langkawi Code" field before you pay. A qualifying booking needs a minimum of 2 adult tickets, and the RM120 is paid in cash at the check-in counter on the day of the cruise when you present your booking voucher and IC or passport. This is the outlier in the campaign: it is open to all customers, with no citizenship rule, no RoRo requirement and no minimum stay. It is capped at one redemption per person, the RM120 covers the first two adults on a booking regardless of party size, and it cannot be combined with any other discount or coupon.
  • RBY Sea Tours, "RBY GO" island hopping — pay for 2, go with 3. RM100 buys 2 adult island-hopping tickets and a third adult ticket comes free, on the Dayang Bunting / Beras Basah / eagle-feeding / fish-feeding route. Book on 011-3003 6008 or csg@rbyseatours.com.
  • Avante Yacht Charters — buy the Sunset Cruise, get a second activity free. The free activity is your pick of Crocodile Adventureland, the Kilim Geoforest mangrove tour by speedboat, or island hopping by speedboat; the SkyCab 4-in-1 with SkyGlide and SkyBridge is available instead as a RM80 add-on. Note the date below.
  • Langsura Geopark, Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest Park — "Parent-Child Bonding Splash": buy 2 adult tickets and up to 2 children under 12 go free. The Dayang Inflatable Playground (30-minute session) is RM20 an adult and RM10 a child, down from RM30 and RM15; the all-in combo of a Dayang Bunting ticket plus a 30-minute kayak plus the playground is RM40 adult and RM20 child for Malaysians, down from RM50 and RM30. This is the one whose own terms do require you to have used the Langkawi RoRo ferry via Pelabuhan Tanjung Lembung and to stay at least 2 nights in Langkawi.
  • Nadias Hotel Cenang — "Buy 1 Free 1 Getaway": 3 days 2 nights at RM215 per room per night in a Deluxe King or Twin, including daily buffet breakfast for 2, one express lunch for 2, and the tourism fee. A RM20 nett per room per night surcharge applies during school and public holidays; children aged 6-12 sharing are RM12 nett per child per night; under-5s sharing existing bedding stay free.
  • Mega Water Sports — Langkawi Countryside Cycling Experience (Paddy Field Edition): RM300 per pax on a cashback Buy 1 Free 1.
  • Anytime Holidays — "Funtime ATV": an RM238 package for one ATV unit that adds either a free 24-hour compact car rental (collect at the jetty or your apartment) or free island hopping for 2 pax on a basic sharing boat. Limited slots.

Two partner offers die before the campaign does

The campaign end date of 31 October is not the deadline that will actually catch you out. Two published partner offers stop earlier, and neither stoppage is announced on the main campaign page:

  • Tropical Charters is limited to the first 300 qualifying bookings and, in LADA's own wording, "ends automatically once the quota is reached, even if before 31 October 2026". Nothing on the campaign page counts down how many are left. As of 7 September 2026 the cruise was still bookable on mystravels.com with no quota notice posted, but a RM120 offer with a 300-booking ceiling is the one to book first, not last.
  • Avante Yacht Charters carries its own printed end date of 30 September 2026 — a full month before the campaign closes. Its flyer was filed under a Merdeka name, but the date on the artwork is 30 September, not 31 August, so it is still live as of this update.

The RoRo cashback itself is the reverse case: LADA publishes no per-person cap and no total quota or budget on it. That is not the same as a guarantee of unlimited claims, so the advice to claim promptly still stands — but the pressure is on the partner offers, not the ferry.

Which partner offers actually check for the ferry

This is the part most coverage gets wrong in both directions. Some partner offers are conditional on having arrived by RoRo — not all of them, and not even most of them:

  • Dayang Bunting requires the ferry. Its own terms ask that you used the Langkawi RoRo ferry via Pelabuhan Tanjung Lembung and stayed at least 2 nights in Langkawi. Here the cashback really is the entry ticket: the same crossing and the same two nights unlock both.
  • Tropical Charters requires nothing of the sort. Its published mechanism says "open to all customers" — fly in, stay one night, hold a foreign passport, and the RM120 is still yours.
  • RBY GO, Avante and Mega Water Sports publish no ferry condition on their campaign flyers either.

So the honest summary is that the RoRo cashback and the partner offers are two loosely-coupled schemes, not one funnel. Book the ferry if you were driving anyway; do not book it to chase partner deals that mostly do not ask for it.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

  • Worth it if you were driving to Langkawi anyway — you are already buying the RoRo ticket and staying two nights, so the cashback and the partner offers are free money on a trip you had booked
  • Worth it for families — Dayang Bunting's two-free-children rule and Nadias' free under-5s stack with a cashback that scales per head
  • Worth it even if you are flying in — you lose the ferry cashback, but Tropical Charters' RM120 is open to all customers with no ferry and no minimum stay, and RBY GO, Avante and Mega Water Sports set no ferry condition either. Only Dayang Bunting clearly asks for the RoRo
  • Book the capped offers first, not last — Tropical Charters stops at 300 bookings whenever that lands, and Avante's own artwork ends 30 September, a month before the campaign
  • Skip the ferry component if you can only stay one night — the 2-night minimum is the hard gate on the RoRo cashback and on Dayang Bunting, though the Pulau Tuba coupon needs only 1 night and the cruise offers need none
  • Skip if your IC address is in Langkawi — you are excluded from the ferry cashback, though the Pulau Tuba coupon is still open to you

Verification

The campaign terms were read directly off LADA's own tourism portal, naturallylangkawi.my, at its campaign page (/kempenb1f1/) and its downloadable terms and conditions PDF (LGK-B1F1-TC.pdf), which sets out the RoRo and Bestuba components separately. Partner offers come from the promotional PDFs LADA hosts for each participating operator. Fares come from Langkawi Ro-Ro Ferry Services' published table (updated April 2026) and Wantas RORO's published fare page; the four-operator count and the 1.5-2 hour crossing come from Langkawi Port Sdn Bhd's RORO ferry page; the fuel surcharge start date of 20 April 2026 is confirmed on Langkawi Auto Express's own notice. The Tanjung Lembung terminal is confirmed by Langkawi Auto Express's and Wantas' published Langkawi counter addresses, and by Dayang Bunting's own campaign terms. KOPTUBAS' founding year and membership come from bestuba.my.

This 7 September 2026 update re-read the live campaign page and every partner PDF LADA hosts. The full 26-partner roster, the Tropical Charters mechanism (code SCTC120, flat RM120, first 300 bookings, open to all customers), the RBY GO RM100 pay-for-2-go-with-3 terms, Avante's 30 September 2026 end date and RM80 SkyCab add-on, and the Mega Water Sports RM300 cycling price all come from those official PDFs. The KOPTUBAS booking numbers are on LADA's own Pulau Tuba flyer. The Tropical Charters cruise was still listed and bookable on mystravels.com on 7 September 2026 with no quota-reached notice posted; the "Mai Langkawi Code" field sits on the Passenger Details page inside the booking flow, so it is not visible from the homepage.

LADA's page publishes no cap on the RoRo cashback per person and no total quota or budget — but the partner offers are where the caps live: Tropical Charters is limited to the first 300 bookings and Avante ends 30 September. The Bestuba component is capped at one coupon per passenger, and incomplete claims are cancelled automatically. Nothing guarantees unlimited claims, so submit early rather than late.

Fine print

  • Malaysian citizens only for the ferry cashback, and not if your IC address is in Langkawi
  • Both legs must be on the Kuala Perlis-Langkawi RoRo ferry specifically
  • Minimum 2 nights in Langkawi for the ferry cashback, with a receipt from a hotel or homestay
  • The Pulau Tuba coupon is a separate benefit with its own 1-night stay condition and its own eligibility rule
  • One coupon claim per passenger on the Pulau Tuba component
  • Cashback covers passenger fares only — port charges, fuel surcharge and vehicle fares are excluded
  • Fares and therefore cashback amounts differ by operator across the four running the route
  • Group bookings must be claimed together, by one representative
  • Claims close 31 October 2026; approved claims pay out within 7 working days
  • Incomplete claims are cancelled automatically — upload MyKad, ferry receipt, accommodation receipt and bank details in one go
  • Partner offers each carry their own terms, are subject to availability, and are booked and paid direct with the operator

Tips

  • Book the ferry online where the operator offers it — Langkawi Ro-Ro Ferry Services prices a sedan RM20 cheaper online than at the counter, even though passenger fares are the same either way
  • Check the participating-partner list before you book your hotel — the same two nights you need for the cashback can also earn a free night or free tickets
  • Head for Tanjung Lembung, not Kuah, for the RoRo, and allow the two hours' vehicle check-in the operators require
  • If you are extending to Pulau Tuba, budget one more night there and collect the coupon at the jetty rather than looking for it in the online portal
  • Claim promptly after the trip — everything closes on 31 October 2026, deadline and campaign alike
