From 28 September to 27 November 2026, between 5pm and 10pm, buy one of eight listed dishes and the second one is 50% off. On the chain's own menu prices that knocks roughly RM10 to RM14 off a dinner for two.

How the deal works

Madam Kwan's announced the promo on its Instagram on 28 September with the line "Buy 1, 2nd item 50% OFF". The official poster lists exactly which dishes count, and it is a short list:

  • Curry Laksa
  • Assam Laksa
  • Salted Fish Fried Rice
  • Spaghetti Napolitan
  • Cantonese Noodles
  • Spaghetti Bolognese
  • Vegetarian Fried Rice
  • Vegetarian Char Kway Teow

Step by step:

  1. Go to Madam Kwan's at The Exchange TRX on a weekday, and order between 5pm and 10pm. The outlet itself opens 10am-10pm, so lunch does not count.
  2. Order two dishes from the list above. They can be the same dish or two different ones.
  3. The second dish is charged at half price. Drinks, appetisers and anything off the list are billed normally.
  4. SST and service charge are added to the bill, as the poster's fine print says.

Madam Kwan's does not say which of two different dishes gets the discount. Most "2nd item" deals in Malaysia halve the cheaper one, so plan your sums that way and ask the cashier if it matters to you.

What it costs: worked examples

The prices below are from Madam Kwan's own online order menu for the TRX outlet, checked on 29 September 2026. Dine-in menu prices can differ slightly, so treat them as a guide, and remember tax and service charge go on top.

The laksa pair. Curry Laksa (RM22.82) and Assam Laksa (RM21.74) come to RM44.56 at full price. With the Assam Laksa at half price (RM10.87), you pay RM33.69, a saving of RM10.87.

Noodles plus rice. Cantonese Noodles (RM28.29) and Salted Fish Fried Rice (RM22.82) total RM51.11. Halving the fried rice saves RM11.41, so you pay RM39.70.

Two vegetarians. Vegetarian Char Kway Teow (RM23.95) and Vegetarian Fried Rice (RM20.65) total RM44.60, or RM34.28 with the fried rice halved.

Add drinks and the maths changes. Two teas at RM10.42 each add RM20.84 at full price, so the laksa pair with drinks lands at about RM54.53 before tax. The deal takes about a sixth off the whole bill, not half.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

It suits TRX office workers who want a proper sit-down dinner before the MRT home, couples and friends catching up after shopping, and anyone who has been meaning to try both of Madam Kwan's laksas side by side. The poster carries a JAKIM halal logo, and two of the eight dishes are vegetarian, which makes it an easy pick for mixed groups.

Skip it if you are dining alone (you need two dishes to trigger it), if you mostly order the signatures like Nasi Bojari (RM34.90) or Nasi Lemak, which are not on the list, or if you are nearer another branch. Pavilion KL, Suria KLCC, Mid Valley and the rest are not running this promo.

The fine print that trips people up

  • TRX only. Madam Kwan's has about 20 outlets. This deal is for The Exchange TRX branch only, and a reply under the Instagram post confirms other branches are excluded.
  • Weekdays only. Saturdays and Sundays are out. Madam Kwan's has not said how it treats public holidays that fall on a weekday, so call before you go on one.
  • Dinner hours only. Orders before 5pm pay full price even if you are still eating at 5.
  • It is per dish, not per bill. A group of four ordering four listed dishes should expect two discounted items, but confirm with staff before ordering.
  • Terms and conditions apply, according to the poster, and Madam Kwan's has not published the full list. Delivery and takeaway orders are not mentioned, so assume the offer is for dining in.
