> Quick view: Marriott's two KL city hotels have gone opposite directions for Mid-Autumn 2026, and both have a hard ordering deadline. Renaissance Kuala Lumpur made a collector's piece: RM1,368 nett, 20 sets only — four mooncakes plus a real pearl necklace and earrings from jeweller J&Kel — and pre-orders close on 31 August 2026. Four Points by Sheraton KL City Centre kept it approachable at RM128 nett for two mooncakes or RM198 nett for four, with orders open until 30 September 2026. Here's what's inside each, where you actually collect them, and what the AmBank card discount is really worth now that the 20% early bird has closed.
The two deadlines that matter more than the price
Neither hotel puts its cut-off in the headline, so here they are up front, read off each restaurant's own ordering page:
- Mid-Autumn Opulence (Renaissance KL): pre-orders close 31 August 2026. Collection runs from 1 September 2026. With only 20 sets in existence, the practical deadline is whenever the twentieth one sells.
- Lunar Reverie (Four Points KLCC): orders run until 30 September 2026. Collection has been open since 15 August 2026, so this one you can order and pick up in the same week.
Mid-Autumn 2026 falls on Friday, 25 September. It is not a public holiday in Malaysia, so if you are gifting to an office, plan the handover for the working week before it.
Mid-Autumn Opulence: the jewellery-box mooncake
This is Renaissance Kuala Lumpur's first mooncake collection, created with J&Kel Jade & Jewel, a Malaysian luxury artisan known for jade work whose salon sits inside the hotel itself — which is why collection happens there rather than at a restaurant counter. It is built as a keepsake rather than a snack box. Inside the opal-finish jewellery box (it has a working drawer) sit four traditional baked mooncakes made with premium halal-certified ingredients:
- White Lotus Single Yolk
- Pure Lotus Single Yolk
- Red Bean with Almond Flakes
- Black Sesame Lotus
Alongside the mooncakes comes a limited-edition jewellery set: a pearl necklace with a moon-inspired pendant and a matching pair of earrings in a silver finish.
Price and availability: RM1,368 nett, strictly limited to 20 sets. Pre-orders close 31 August 2026; collection starts 1 September 2026 at J&Kel, The Salon, Level 1, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre. Delivery: available on request within the Klang Valley only, and the fee is charged according to the arrangement with the delivery provider — it is not baked into the RM1,368 and it is explicitly excluded from the AmBank discount below.
Lunar Reverie: the everyday gift box
Sister hotel Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur City Centre covers the other end of the gifting spectrum through its Chinese restaurant, Sichuan Kitchen:
- The Artisan Collection, RM128 nett: two traditional baked mooncakes in a reusable fabric knot bag. Pick two from six flavours: White Lotus Single Yolk, Pure Lotus Single Yolk, Red Bean with Almond Flakes, Black Sesame Lotus, Green Tea Lotus and Chocolate.
- The Signature Collection, RM198 nett: four fixed flavours (White Lotus Single Yolk, Pure Lotus Single Yolk, Red Bean with Almond Flakes and Black Sesame Lotus) in a reusable wooden keepsake box with handle detailing.
Where you actually collect it is not the restaurant. Sichuan Kitchen sells the sets, but pick-up is at the Lunar Reverie pop-up booth on the Ground Floor of Four Points by Sheraton KL City Centre — worth knowing before you take the lift to Level 1. Both boxes lean on reusable packaging, so the bag or box outlives the festival.
What the discounts are actually worth now
Both hotels ran a 20% early bird from 15 July to 15 August 2026. That window has closed — but at the time of writing both ordering pages still display the line "20% off from now until 15 August 2026", which reads as live and is not. Do not budget around it, and check the figure you are quoted.
For reference, here is what the early bird would have cost versus what you pay today:
- Opulence: RM1,368 → RM1,094.40 on early bird. Gone.
- Artisan: RM128 → RM102.40 on early bird. Gone.
- Signature: RM198 → RM158.40 on early bird. Gone.
The one discount still live is AmBank's, and only on the Opulence set. Pay with an AmBank Debit Card, AmBank Credit Card or AmBank Islamic Credit Card-i between 1 August and 30 September 2026 and 15% comes off the total bill. On RM1,368 that is RM205.20 off, bringing it to RM1,162.80 — RM68.40 more than the early bird would have been, and the best price available on this set today. It applies to walk-in purchases and to phone, WhatsApp and email orders, subject to availability, and it does not cover delivery charges. There is no equivalent card offer published for Lunar Reverie.
A rough way to think about the RM1,368: if you value the four baked mooncakes at Four Points' own RM198 rate for a box of four, the pearl necklace, earrings and keepsake box are effectively costing about RM1,170 — or roughly RM965 after the AmBank discount. Different kitchens, so treat it as an illustration rather than an audit, but it is the right question to ask of a mooncake set that costs more than a hotel night.
Which one to pick
- Corporate or once-a-year gifting: the Opulence set is effectively a jewellery gift with mooncakes attached. Twenty sets nationwide is the scarcity play, and the AmBank card takes RM205.20 off real money. Order by 31 August.
- Family, colleagues, hosts: Lunar Reverie's RM128 and RM198 boxes are the practical pick, and at RM49.50 a mooncake the Signature box is the better value of the two (Artisan works out to RM64 each — you are paying for the flexibility of choosing your two flavours and for the fabric bag).
- Who should skip: if you specifically need certified-halal mooncakes, the halal-certified claim is published for the Opulence mooncakes; it is not stated for Lunar Reverie, so ask before ordering. If you need delivery outside the Klang Valley, neither collection is set up for you. And if you missed the 20% early bird and are not an AmBank cardholder, there is no discount left on the Four Points boxes — the price is the price.
- Not in KL? Sister property Renaissance Johor Bahru runs its own Éclat de Lune collection from 1 August to 25 September 2026 through Wanli Chinese Restaurant: RM198 nett for a box of four halal-certified baked mooncakes, RM188 nett for eight snowskin, and RM208 nett for eight premium durian snowskin.
Practical notes
Both restaurants are operated by Ventura International Sdn Bhd (Co. No. 1153816-X), trading as Evolution at Renaissance KL and as Sichuan Kitchen at Four Points KLCC — which is why the two hotels share a WhatsApp ordering line, +6012 2665 987. Both properties sit on the same corner of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, walkable from Bukit Nanas Monorail station.
If you drive in to collect, parking at both venues is a flat RM15 per vehicle per entry with every RM75 nett of same-day dine-in spend — a mooncake purchase is not dine-in spend, so budget for normal parking rates unless you are eating there too. Sichuan Kitchen opens daily 12:00pm–3:00pm and 6:00pm–10:00pm; Evolution opens daily 6:30am–10:30pm.
