> Quick view: Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 fell on Friday 25 September, and the season is now over. We first priced these eight brands in July and re-checked them on 31 August; this update, on 28 October 2026, records what was left after the festival and what to do differently for Mid-Autumn 2027 (Wednesday 15 September). The prices on the brand cards below are the 2026 season's list prices, kept as a benchmark for next year.
Mid-Autumn 2026 is over. What can you still buy?
Mooncakes are a seasonal product, and most brands stop selling the moment the festival passes. Two of the eight here ran a post-festival clearance; a month later, both have sold through. Checked on 28 October 2026:
- Tai Thong: sold out. On 27 September its online store had its three new baked flavours and Shanghai yam single yolk at half price (RM12.40 to RM12.65 a piece) and most other baked singles about 20% off. By 28 October, all 34 items in its 2026 online range showed out of stock.
- Purple Cane: sold out. On 27 September nine tea mooncakes were still in stock, including the Moonlit Banquet Delight box at RM79.90 (list RM143.50). By 28 October its tea mooncake category showed zero products.
- Oversea: the last brand with stock. overseamy.com still showed seven baked singles in stock at full 2026 price: red bean RM18.50, less-sweet white lotus RM24.50, assorted fruits and nuts RM26.60, and four single-yolk lines at RM25.60 to RM26.80. Every two- and four-piece box and the Momoyama range were out of stock.
The rest closed with the festival:
- Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur's online shop still trades cakes and chocolates, but its Mid-Autumn collection returned zero products on both 27 September and 28 October.
- Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur's mooncake offer page reads no longer valid, so the SLCMAF26 members' code lapsed with it.
- EQ Kuala Lumpur's Celestial Treasures page has been taken down; its booth ran to 26 September.
- Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur's own press release set collection at 1 August to 25 September 2026.
Is a post-festival mooncake worth buying?
Only for eating, and only after one check. A baked mooncake is shelf-stable for weeks, not months, so read the best-before date before you pay — anything still on sale in late October was made for a 25 September festival. For gifting, a post-festival box arrives after the moment it was meant for; save the budget for 2027.
When to order for Mid-Autumn 2027
Mid-Autumn Festival 2027 falls on Wednesday 15 September 2027, ten days earlier in the calendar than 2026. Using 2026 as the template, here is how the season actually ran:
- Mid-June to early July: hotel collections launch. EQ opened on 15 June, Mandarin Oriental on 25 June, Shangri-La on 8 July, Four Seasons took orders from 20 July.
- 30 July to 20 August: every hotel early-bird closed — Shangri-La's 15% on 30 July, Mandarin Oriental's 20% on 31 July, EQ's 15% on 15 August, Four Seasons' 15% on 20 August. That is the single biggest discount of the season, and it ends roughly five to eight weeks before the festival.
- About five days before the festival: delivery cut-offs. Tai Thong's was 20 September for a 25 September festival.
- Festival day: hotel collection ends (EQ ran one day past it).
For 2027, shift those dates about ten days earlier: expect hotel early-birds to close around late July to early August 2027, and delivery cut-offs around 10 September 2027. Treat these as estimates until each brand publishes its 2027 rate card.
The 2026 season in brief
The prices and discounts on each card below are what the brands charged during the 2026 season, read off their own shops and brochures on 31 August 2026. The early-birds, the Shangri-La Circle code SLCMAF26, the Four Seasons 20-box discount and the EQ bulk rates all ended with the season. They stay here as the benchmark to judge 2027 prices against.
How we chose
Every brand below is a real, currently-trading Malaysian mooncake maker with an official ordering channel, and every price was read off that brand's own shop, brochure or press release on 31 August 2026 — not off an aggregator. We have mixed price points and styles deliberately, from a RM12.80 tea mooncake to a RM528 durian keepsake box, so there is something here for gifting, for praying and for simply eating.
Where a brand could not be priced from its own channel, we say so plainly rather than borrow a number from somewhere else. That applies to exactly one brand this year, and it is flagged on its card.

The images in this guide are each brand's own gift-box packaging or official brand imagery, taken from their 2026 Mid-Autumn campaign materials. Box designs and flavours can still be refreshed through the season, so check each brand's official page to confirm this year's line-up before ordering.

What a mooncake actually costs in 2026
There is no single answer, but the spread is now fully mapped. Read as price per single mooncake, the eight brands stack up like this:
- RM12.80 to RM18.30 — Purple Cane's 100g tea mooncakes. The cheapest way onto this list by a wide margin.
- RM16 to RM22.80 — Tai Thong baked singles at 2026 in-season online sale prices (RM17.80 to RM26.30 at list).
- RM18.50 to RM32.80 — Oversea, with the Momoyama snow-skin-style range at a flat RM26.80.
- RM43 to RM68 — Shangri-La, where RM43 buys white lotus and RM68 buys Musang King snow skin.
- RM45 to RM68 — Mandarin Oriental, flat RM45 across baked, snow skin and chocolate, with Musang King at RM68.
- RM47 to RM89 — Four Seasons, the dearest per piece here. Its Musang King durian paste snow skin at RM89 is the single most expensive mooncake in this guide.
By the box, the range is far wider:
- RM28.60 buys Purple Cane's entry Moonlit Banquet gift set.
- RM74 to RM131.20 covers an Oversea four-piece; its Lunar Rise gift set is RM168.
- RM80.30 to RM86.30 buys a Tai Thong four-piece tin or paper combo on sale.
- RM128+ to RM298+ covers EQ's Miniature, Vintage, Longevity and Autumn Jade boxes.
- RM218 to RM688 covers Mandarin Oriental, from a box of four to the limited heritage-inspired set.
- RM318 to RM528 covers Shangri-La's keepsake boxes, topping out at the Golden Musang King snow skin set.
- RM1,088+ to RM9,888+ is EQ's Premium Collection, which pairs four baked mooncakes with a bottle — Veuve Clicquot at the bottom, Hennessy Paradis at the top.
One piece of fine print worth internalising: EQ quotes every price with a plus sign, meaning before prevailing government tax. A RM298+ box is not a RM298 box. The hotel brochures from Shangri-La and the Mandarin Oriental online shop quote the figure you actually pay.
How to choose
- For praying and traditional gifting: classic baked lotus paste with single or double yolk. Tai Thong and Oversea are the heritage benchmarks, and both sit under RM27 a piece.
- For something modern: snow skin, lava custard and chocolate from the hotels. Mandarin Oriental's Artisanal Chocolate line and EQ's new Uji Matcha Snowy Pistachio are this year's genuinely new things.
- For less sweetness: Purple Cane makes its tea mooncakes with less sugar, less oil and no preservatives, and labels several boxes vegan. Oversea's less-sweet white lotus is RM24.50.
- For durian: Musang King is offered at RM68 by both Shangri-La and Mandarin Oriental, at RM89 by Four Seasons, and at RM26.80 by Oversea. Shangri-La will also sell you eight snow skin Musang King in a keepsake box for RM528.
- For a corporate order: Shangri-La's 20% at 600 boxes is the deepest bulk rate here, with EQ next on per-box bulk pricing.
Ordering tips
- Order in July for 2027. All four 2026 hotel early-birds closed between 30 July and 20 August — five to eight weeks before the festival. Any guide advertising one in September is out of date.
- Join a hotel loyalty programme early if a hotel box is what you want. In 2026 Shangri-La Circle members (free to join) took 10% off with a season code; watch for the 2027 equivalent.
- Watch the delivery cut-off, not the festival. Tai Thong's 2026 cut-off was five days before Mid-Autumn, West Malaysia only, with no weekend or public-holiday delivery.
- Check Halal status if it matters for your gifting. Not every hotel mooncake is Halal-certified, and certification can change year to year, so read the mark on the box you are actually buying.
- Snow skin often is not a delivery item. Tai Thong's entire snow skin range is sold offline only, through hypermarkets and its own kiosks.
The one brand we could not price
Kam Lun Tai was the exception this year. Its website, klt.com.my, returned a bandwidth-limit error on every attempt on 31 August 2026, at the peak of the season, and no official 2026 price list was reachable.
By 27 September the site was back up. It lists 19 mooncakes at RM76 to RM114, with a Moon & Bloom premium gift set at RM208, and posts a "KLT Mid-Autumn Mooncake Leaflet 2026" under News & Promotion. The product listing does not say whether those figures are per box or which season they belong to, so we have not put them in the price comparison. The brand also sells through official Shopee and Lazada stores. For 2027, check klt.com.my early in the season, before the traffic peak, and read the Halal mark on the box you are actually buying.
