> Quick view: Resorts World Kijal is selling a 3D2N Premier Seaview stay with daily breakfast for two and a one-time release of two baby turtles on the Saturday, at RM740 nett for members and RM800 for non-members, Fridays only, until 31 October 2026. The package price never moves. The plain room rate does. That single fact decides whether you are getting a bargain or paying RM190 for two breakfasts and a hatchling.

Terengganu's coast is one of the few places in Malaysia where a hotel can honestly put a sea turtle on its promotional artwork, and Resorts World Kijal is one of the few that has the hatchery to back it up. The resort sits at KM28 of Jalan Kemaman-Dungun in Kemaman, on a one-kilometre stretch of its own beach, about four hours' drive from Kuala Lumpur by Genting's own reckoning, and its turtle page records 76 nesting activities on that sand. The animals that come ashore are mainly green turtles, with the occasional hawksbill. The hatchery was purpose-built to protect them.

The package built around it is called Be A Seaturtle Superhero, and it is the reason to read past the poster.

What RM740 actually buys

The entitlements are printed in full on the resort's own deal page. You get three days and two nights in a Premier Seaview room, a buffet breakfast for two at Restoran Kampong Meraga Beris (served 6.30am to 10.30am), and a one-time release of two baby turtles on the Saturday. That is one hatchling each for two people, not a bucket.

Two prices are published: RM740 nett for Genting Rewards or SkyCard holders and RM800 nett for everyone else. The RM60 gap is worth closing before you book, because Genting's own membership page describes the SkyCard as its lifestyle programme and says you sign up for free, with the entry tier sitting at zero tier points. Genting Rewards is the separate programme aimed at its gaming clientele. If you have neither, the free SkyCard is the one to take.

The dates are narrow. The package is sold from 1 July to 31 October 2026 and only for Friday to Saturday nights, which follows from the turtle release being scheduled on the Saturday. Check in on any other day and the release is not part of it. Because 31 October 2026 falls on a Saturday, the last eligible check-in is Friday 30 October 2026, and we confirmed that date is still bookable.

The rate that moves, and the one that does not

Genting's booking engine sells the package at RM400 a night, which is exactly the RM800 non-member price across two nights, and it strikes that rate through from a normal RM651. Sitting beside it in the same results list is Oh Indahnya @ Kijal, the same Premier Seaview room with nothing included, struck through from RM499.

That second number is the one that matters, and it is not stable. We priced every eligible Friday in the campaign's remaining run on 3 September 2026 and re-read all of them on 4 September 2026: the package sat at RM400 a night on every one, while the room-only rate ranged from RM305 to RM433.

On eight of the nine, the package is the dearer buy. The bare Premier Seaview is RM305 a night on seven Fridays, or RM610 for two nights against the package's RM800, so the package costs RM190 more. On 25 September the room firms up to RM336 and the premium narrows to RM128. What that money buys is four breakfast covers and a hatchling release for two — a fair price for a family morning, but not a discount.

There was exactly one exception, and it has run out. On Friday 4 September 2026 the bare room priced at RM433 a night, or RM866 for two nights, against the package's RM800 — the only date in the window where the package undercut the very room it contains, and RM126 better still at the member rate of RM740. That Friday is now the check-in date itself, so unless you are booking same-day it has gone, and every Friday behind it prices the other way.

Two things we confirmed on the engine change how you should shop this:

  • RM305 is the floor, not a weekend dip. The same Premier Seaview prices at RM305 for a single Friday night and for a midweek Tuesday-to-Thursday stay as well. There is no cheaper Friday further out to hold out for.
  • Kijal sells one room type online. The resort's own website lists Deluxe Rooms, a Premier Executive and two suite grades, but a search for the resort on the booking engine returns only three products, all of them the same Premier Seaview: the room on its own, the turtle package, and Soak up the Sun & Sea. The suites are sold under separate product codes from their own deal page. RM305 a night is the cheapest way into Resorts World Kijal through Genting's own site.

The Friday rule is enforced rather than advisory, too. Search a single Friday night, or a two-night midweek stay, and the turtle package vanishes from the results entirely; only a Friday check-in with two nights brings it back.

The alternative package almost nobody compares against

Kijal runs a second offer, Soak up the Sun and Sea, sold on the resort site as the Seaside Escape: the same Premier Seaview room, daily buffet breakfast for two and a RM100 nett food and beverage credit, at RM430 nett for members and RM460 for non-members. It quotes a normal price of RM694 and it is valid all the way to 31 December 2026.

The engine prices it per night, so across the same two nights it comes to RM920 against the turtle package's RM800. The turtle package is RM120 cheaper for the same room and the same breakfasts, and the only thing you give up is the food and beverage credit, which both the booking engine and the resort's terms describe as one-time use. Net that RM100 off and Seaside Escape lands at an effective RM820, still a shade above the turtle package, which also adds the hatchlings. If you were choosing between the two on a Friday, the turtle package is the better buy — and note it is the only one of the three sold as a two-night stay, so it is not an option for a single overnight.

The third option, The Suite Life, is a different bracket: 2D1N in a Deluxe Suite with breakfast for two at RM546 member or RM600 non-member, or a Premier Suite with breakfast for two adults and two children at RM685 member or RM750 non-member, both bookable to 31 December 2026.

What the turtle release does and does not guarantee

Read this part before you promise anything to a child. The resort states plainly that because this is a natural occurrence, the release slot is confirmed only when you check in. If no hatchlings are ready, you are given a turtle egg planting experience instead. That is a real substitute, not a refund, and it is the single most likely way this package disappoints.

What the morning itself looks like is worth knowing before you sell it to a child as a treat. Genting's own account of the experience says guests are briefed on how to handle the hatchlings and how to let them go, and that the turtles are released about five metres back from the water rather than at the edge, because they imprint on the sand they cross on the way down; females that survive return to that same beach to nest roughly 20 years later.

The end date is not arbitrary either. Nesting at Kijal runs roughly April to October, with no fixed dates, and the resort asks visitors to book before the season closes. That is why this window shuts on 31 October rather than running through the year like the other two packages.

Where the money goes is worth knowing. Resorts World Kijal states that proceeds from the Baby Turtle Release package go to the Terengganu State Turtle Conservation Trust Fund set up by the Terengganu state government. A green turtle lays roughly 80 to 120 eggs in a nest, the hatchlings dig their way out and run for the sea at night to avoid predators, and very few reach adulthood. The RM190 premium reads differently once you know it is partly a donation.

Who should book it, and who should not

Book it if you have children between roughly four and twelve, because a supervised hatchling release with a briefing beforehand is the kind of thing they remember, and RM190 over two nights is cheap for that. Book it if you were already going to eat breakfast at the resort, since Kijal is rural and the alternatives are a drive away. Book it if the conservation contribution matters to you, because the proceeds are earmarked rather than notional.

Skip it if you are travelling as a couple who sleep late, because you are paying for two breakfasts you will not eat and a Saturday morning slot you have to turn up for. Skip it if you only want the beach: RM305 a night for the same room is the cheaper way in, it does not get cheaper further out, and it does not tie you to a Friday. Skip it if you are a family of four, because the breakfast entitlement covers two people only — the Premier Suite under The Suite Life is the Kijal package that feeds two adults and two children. And skip it if a cancelled trip would hurt, because there is no refund at all.

What else is there

The resort's own recreation list is longer than the beach suggests: ATV trails around the resort, glamping, a beachside jacuzzi, a spa, karaoke from 7pm to 11pm and closed on Thursdays, a driving range open 7am to 7pm at RM6 for 50 balls or RM12 for 100, outdoor chess, life-sized snakes and ladders, and a fitness centre open 7am to 9pm that is complimentary for in-house guests.

Off the property, the resort points guests to Pantai Kemasik's fishing village, Kijal lemang cooked in bamboo, local keropok lekor made from ikan tamban, and Kampung Baru Ayer Jerneh in Kemasik, which it describes as the largest Hainanese village in Malaysia, with wooden shophouses more than a century old. There is a dusk sampan cruise on Sungai Yak Yah at Kampong Ibok for fireflies. And if the hatchery whets the appetite, the Ma' Daerah Turtle Sanctuary at Kerteh is about 45 minutes away.

Fine print that trips people up

The breakfast is specifically at Restoran Kampong Meraga Beris, not anywhere else on the property. Confirmation is subject to room availability, so a fixed price does not mean a guaranteed room on a busy weekend. All entitlements are issued by the Front Office at check-in, which means the turtle slot is assigned there rather than at booking. And the resort reserves the right to alter, amend, delete or add to the conditions, or withdraw the package, without prior notice.

One last practical note: the rates above are the non-member figures the booking engine shows to a guest who is not signed in. Sign in and the member pricing applies, which is where the published RM740 comes from.
