> Quick view: Shangri-La Rasa Ria in Tuaran, north of Kota Kinabalu, is selling a members' "50% Off Your Second Night" rate for stays until 20 December 2026, from RM1,200 for two nights. It is a fair deal, but Malaysians should price the residents-only Beach Staycation (from RM576 a night) against it first, and Mastercard holders staying four nights can do better still.

Shangri-La Rasa Ria sits on Pantai Dalit, a long stretch of beach backed by its own forest reserve and the Dalit Bay golf course. Rooms are split between the main resort and the Ocean Wing, which has its own private lobby, pool and jacuzzi. The resort currently lists several room offers on its website at the same time, and they overlap. We checked every live offer on shangri-la.com on 27 September 2026 with the site set to ringgit, and read each offer's terms. Here is how they compare.

The headline offer: 50% off your second night

  • Who can book: Shangri-La Circle members (the loyalty programme is free to join online). Book on the Shangri-La website or app, or quote SLC50 if you book by phone or email.
  • Stay dates: 10 September to 20 December 2026, minimum two consecutive nights.
  • Price: from RM1,200 for two nights, before 8% SST. That is RM1,296 all in, or RM648 a night.
  • Included: daily breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and below, 4pm late check-out, the Discovery Centre, Forest Garden and waterfall, the resort's free daily activities, a daily shuttle to Kota Kinabalu city, parking and Wi-Fi. Ocean Wing Junior Suite bookings add the private lobby, a complimentary minibar and the Ocean Wing pool and jacuzzi.

The 50% applies to the second night only, so on a two-night stay you are saving 25% overall. Working back from RM1,200, the first night is priced at RM800 and the second at RM400.

How it stacks up against the other live rates

The "from" prices below are the lowest the resort currently shows for each offer, before 8% SST. Your dates may price higher.

  • 50% Off Your Second Night: from RM1,200 for 2 nights, so RM600 a night. Circle members.
  • Members Online Saver Rate with Breakfast: from RM621 a night. Circle members, prepaid.
  • Beach Staycation: from RM576 a night. Malaysians, Malaysian permit holders and Bruneians.
  • Mastercard Exclusive Stay (4 for 3): from RM1,688 for 4 nights, so RM422 a night. Mastercard holders.
  • Closer to Nature: from RM2,400 for 3 nights, so RM800 a night. Anyone, 3 nights minimum.

A worked example for a two-night weekend for a couple with one small child: SLC50 from RM1,296 with SST. The Beach Staycation over the same two nights from RM576 x 2 = RM1,152, or RM1,244.16 with SST. That is about RM52 less, with the same breakfast for two adults and two young kids, the city shuttle and parking, and it adds daily access to the Cool Zone Kids Club. What you give up is the 4pm late check-out.

If you can stay four nights and pay with a Mastercard, the Mastercard Exclusive Stay gives you an Ocean Wing room with the fourth night free, from RM1,688 (RM1,823.04 with SST). Four nights on the Beach Staycation would start at RM2,304 before tax. This offer runs for stays until 31 March 2027.

Closer to Nature costs more, but it bundles a sunrise hike, the Winged Wonders buggy tour and a night walk for 2 adults and 2 children under 12, plus an hour of bicycle use and 4pm check-out. For a nature-focused family trip that is real value. You must stay three nights and contact the resort at least three days ahead to arrange the activities. It runs for stays until 15 December 2026.

Who should book which

  • Malaysians on a short break: check the Beach Staycation first. Bring your MyKad, because the rate is switched to the Flexible Rate if you cannot show proof of residency on arrival.
  • Non-residents who are Circle members: SLC50 is your best short-stay deal.
  • Families staying four nights or more: the Mastercard 4-for-3 in the Ocean Wing is the strongest value on the list.
  • Skip it if: you want a flexible booking. SLC50 does not allow amendments, and the Mastercard deal is fully prepaid and non-refundable.

Fine print that trips people up

  • Late check-out has exceptions. SLC50's 4pm check-out does not apply to Saturday departures, public holidays, or departures from 1 to 7 October.
  • Blackout dates. The Mastercard offer is blacked out on 1-3 October, 24-25 December and 31 December 2026, 1 January 2027 and 6-8 February 2027. SLC50 says blackout dates "may apply".
  • No stacking. Each offer is not valid with other promotions.
  • Tax. Every rate adds 8% SST. The RM10 per room per night tourism tax applies only to foreign passport holders.
  • Maybank EzyPay instalments on the Beach Staycation are arranged at the front desk at check-in or check-out, not online.
