What Roomtober Fest actually is

Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan is a 4-star hotel on the Tanjung Lumpur seafront, inside Kuantan Waterfront Resort City (KWRC) across the river from Kuantan town. It has 38 sqm studios with kitchenettes, 39 sqm Deluxe Ocean View rooms with balconies, and 80 sqm two-bedroom family rooms. On TrustYou it scores 4.4 from 7,708 reviews.

The offer page lists three terms:

  • Booking period: until 31 October 2026.
  • Stay period: 1 September 2026 to 7 February 2027.
  • Blackout: 19 December 2026 to 8 January 2027.

There is no promo code. When you search dates from the offer page, the booking engine shows two "Limited Time Deal" rates: 20% off the Best Flexible Rate, prepaid, and 15% off, pay later with free cancellation. Each one comes room-only or with breakfast.

What we were quoted (4 October 2026)

Two adults, Wednesday 21 October, one night, before tax:

  • Studio City View (two single beds): RM163 on 20% off, RM173 on 15% off, RM183 member rate, RM204 Best Flexible Rate
  • Studio City View with breakfast: RM196 on 20% off, RM208 on 15% off, RM244 Best Flexible
  • Studio Sea View (king bed): RM200 on 20% off, RM212 on 15% off, RM250 Best Flexible
  • Studio Sea View with breakfast: RM233 on 20% off, RM247 on 15% off, RM291 Best Flexible
  • Lowest rate for the bigger rooms: Family Room City View RM356, Deluxe Ocean View RM418, Family Room Sea View RM422

Rates were identical on Saturday 17 October, except that the Studio City View was already sold out. On Saturday 12 December the Studio City View dropped to RM156 on 20% off (Best Flexible RM194). On 24 December, inside the blackout, the 20% rate was gone and the cheapest Studio City View was RM165 on the 15% rate.

Every rate adds 8% in taxes and fees on top (RM13.04 on RM163, for example).

Which rate to pick

Take the 15% flexible rate unless your dates are fixed. On the Studio City View it cost RM10 a night more than the 20% rate. For that you keep free cancellation and date changes. The 20% rate's terms say cancellation and amendment are not allowed, and a no-show forfeits the full payment.

You don't need to join the loyalty programme for this. The member rate (10% off, free to join) was RM183, which is RM10 more than the public 15% rate. Membership still gives 15% off dining, which is worth it if you plan to eat at the hotel.

Book breakfast in the rate, not as an add-on. Breakfast added separately is RM36 per guest per night. For two people that turns RM200 (Studio Sea View, 20% off) into RM272. The same room on the 20% rate with breakfast was RM233.

Worked examples

A couple's two-night weekday break. Studio City View on the 20% rate: RM163 x 2 = RM326, plus RM26.08 tax and the RM3 a night sustainability charge, comes to about RM358. On the Best Flexible Rate it would be about RM447, so you save roughly RM89 by locking the dates in.

Sea view with breakfast, flexible. Studio Sea View on the 15% rate with breakfast: RM247 x 2 = RM494, plus RM39.52 tax and RM6 sustainability charge, comes to about RM540 for two nights. You can still cancel if plans change.

A family of four. The Family Room City View (two bedrooms, one queen bed and two singles, up to four guests) was RM356 a night at its lowest rate. Two Studio City View rooms on the 20% rate would be RM326 a night before tax, so slightly cheaper. The family room gives everyone one door, a living area and a dining table.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

It suits KL and Klang Valley families doing a long weekend on the East Coast, couples who want a sea-view room without resort prices, and anyone with a wedding or event in Kuantan before February. The hotel is 0.2 km from Serambi Teruntum, 3.6 km from Menara 188 and 7.1 km from Teluk Cempedak beach, so you will need a car or e-hailing for most sightseeing.

Skip it if you want Christmas or New Year in Kuantan, because those dates are blacked out. Skip it too if you are after a beach you can swim at right outside the lobby. The hotel's waterfront faces the Kuantan river mouth, and Teluk Cempedak is the swimming beach.

The fine print that trips people up

  • "Up to 35%" is the ceiling, not what you'll see. Every date we priced, from October to December, topped out at 20%.
  • Book on swiss-belhotel.com. The deal is exclusive to the hotel's own website, so it won't appear on Booking.com or Agoda.
  • Charges paid at the hotel. The rate terms list a RM3 per room per night sustainability charge. Non-Malaysians also pay RM10 per room per night Tourism Tax. Both are paid at the hotel, not online.
  • RM100 deposit. You pay a refundable security deposit in cash or by credit card at check-in.
  • Booking deadline vs stay date. A booking on 31 October can be for any date up to 7 February 2027, except the blackout. After 31 October the rate is gone even for stays already inside the window.
