What the event is
The TOP Penang is the attraction complex on top of KOMTAR in George Town, run by Magnificent Empire Sdn Bhd. Its third Fright of Darkness Halloween event takes a Malaysian ghost for its theme: the pontianak, here out for revenge (*dendam*). The poster calls it "the biggest haunted house" and lists a lucky draw, special performances and activities, and contests for best costume and best makeup. The TOP's promotion page gives the event hours as 4pm to 11.30pm on both days, while the ticket terms put haunted house entry at 8pm to 11.30pm.
How the tickets work
- Pick your date first. On The TOP's OnlyTicket page, the calendar only opens 31 October and 1 November. Each ticket is valid on the date you choose and nowhere else.
- Choose single or group. The standard ticket is RM49.90. The buy 4 free 1 option charges RM199.60 and adds a fifth admission free.
- Use the daytime part before 7pm. Each ticket covers the Magic Mirror Maze and Musical Carousel, redeemable 10am to 7pm on the same day. Turn up at 8pm and those two are gone.
- Come back for the haunted house between 8pm and 11.30pm, with the digital voucher or online receipt ready at the counter.
What it costs: worked examples
We checked The TOP's own OnlyTicket listings on 3 October 2026. Bought on their own, the Magic Mirror Maze is RM20 for an adult and RM10 for a child or senior, and the Musical Carousel is RM10 for everyone.
- One adult, full day: RM49.90. Take away the RM30 the two attractions would cost and the haunted house itself comes to about RM19.90.
- One child: still RM49.90, because there is no child price. The two attractions are worth only RM20 to a child, so the haunted house works out to about RM29.90.
- Five friends: the buy 4 free 1 pack is RM199.60, or RM39.92 each, saving RM49.90 against five single tickets.
- Two adults and two kids: four singles cost RM199.60, the same as the group pack. If a grandparent or friend is coming, buy the pack and the fifth person goes free.
- Students and civil servants: RM25 at the door saves RM24.90 on a single online ticket. The poster does not say whether the RM25 ticket includes the two daytime attractions, so ask at the counter.
Who it suits, and who should skip it
It suits groups of friends who would pay full price anyway, and families who can spend the afternoon at The TOP before the haunted house opens. Students in Penang get the best deal at RM25, as long as they are happy to queue on the night.
Skip it if you only want the haunted house and will arrive after dark, since you lose the bundled attractions you paid for. Penang locals should also do their sums: our RM10 Penangites pass guide covers the walk-in rate for MyKad holders from five northern states. If that rate still applies at the counter, the two bundled attractions are worth less to you than RM30.
Fine print that trips people up
- Two dates, no refunds. The voucher is non-refundable, non-transferable and valid only on the date you booked. You cannot swap Saturday for Sunday.
- The terms text is confusing. It says "every Saturday & Sunday", but the booking calendar and the red notice on the same page say 31 October and 1 November only. Go by the calendar.
- Children 13 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.
- One voucher, one person, one transaction. Anything you do not use is lost.
- Walk-in RM25 is not guaranteed. If capacity runs out on the night, the cheaper ticket does you no good. Groups who must go together should book online.
- Event details can change. The poster says all events are subject to change without notice.
