> Quick view: TUI BLUE The Haven Ipoh's Merdeka Tranquil Escape ended on 31 August 2026 and was not extended. Its replacement, Malaysia Stay & Celebrate 2026, runs for booking and stay between 1 and 30 September 2026 at identical rates — RM489 a night for the 868 sq ft lakeview suite for two against a published RM671, and RM844 for the 1,180 sq ft three-bedroom for five against RM1,229, both tax inclusive. Breakfast, an RM69 dining credit on a minimum RM150 bill and 20% off spa carry over. What does not carry over is the long weekend: Malaysia Day 2026 falls on a Wednesday.

The Merdeka rate was not extended. It was renamed.

This is the question worth settling first, because a lot of Merdeka hotel offers quietly roll into September and a lot more quietly die. This one did neither — the resort replaced it.

The Merdeka Tranquil Escape 2026 page is untouched. Its structured data still carries a dateModified timestamp of 31 July 2026, the same day it was published. Nobody went back to it to move the dates. Its stay window closed on 31 August and stayed closed.

The successor was already live before Merdeka Day. Malaysia Stay & Celebrate 2026 sits above it on the resort's Offers index, was published on 31 July 2026 alongside it, and was last modified on 29 August 2026 — two days before the August package expired. Its window is book and stay 1 to 30 September 2026.

So the rate did not lapse. It changed name, changed the reason it exists, and kept the money exactly where it was.

What is identical, what is better, and what got vaguer

Identical. Both suite categories, both published rates, both stated savings, the tax-inclusive line (nett prices carry a 10% charge and 8% service tax), the RM69 dining credit at a minimum RM150 per bill, the 20% off spa treatments, and the flat refusal to combine with anything else.

Better — breakfast now names a headcount. The August page said only "Daily Breakfast". The September page spells it out:

  • 1-Bedroom Suite: breakfast for 2 adults + 1 child
  • 3-Bedroom Suite: breakfast for 5 adults + 2 children
  • Children aged 1-5 sharing an existing bed get complimentary breakfast

Better — the welcome surprise is itemised. August's "Merdeka Welcome Surprise" was undefined, and this article said at the time to treat it as worth nothing until proven otherwise. September's is written down: a complimentary welcome cake slice plus a special welcome bed setup. Still small, but no longer a blank.

Vaguer — the suite lost a word. August's inclusion line named the Deluxe Suite Lakeview. September's says only "Lakeview Suite", and the rate card says "1-Bedroom Suite, 2 pax, 868 sqft". The resort's public room chart lists two 868 sq ft categories with one king bed, and their child caps are not the same:

  • Deluxe Suite Lakeview — max 2 adults, 1 child aged 6 and below
  • 1 Bedroom Lakeview Suite — max 2 adults, 2 children aged 6 and below

One extra small child fits in the second and not the first. The September page does not say which you get, so ask on the phone before you book for three.

And the resort mistyped its own end date. The page header reads "Book & Stay: 1 September - 30 September 2026", while the rate card below it reads "Eligible period: 1 September – 31 September 2026". September has 30 days. Work to 30 September.

The calendar is the real difference, and it is not in your favour

August's version of this offer had a genuine structural advantage: Merdeka Day 2026 fell on Monday 31 August, so Saturday 29 to Monday 31 was a real three-day weekend sitting inside the discount window.

September has nothing like it. Malaysia Day 2026 is Wednesday 16 September — the single worst weekday a public holiday can land on. There is no long weekend in September 2026 at all. To build one you have to spend leave:

  • Two days of leave, Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 September buys you Saturday 12 through Wednesday 16 — five days off
  • Two days of leave, Thursday 17 and Friday 18 September buys you Wednesday 16 through Sunday 20 — also five days off

There is, however, one window that costs nothing, and it is the first week. Cuti Penggal 2 does not end when August does. Per the Ministry of Education's Kalendar Akademik 2026, the break runs 28 August to 5 September for Group A (Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu) and 29 August to 6 September for Group B (everywhere else, Perak and the Klang Valley included). Group A returns on Sunday 6 September, Group B on Monday 7 September.

That means Tuesday 1 to Friday 4 September are still school-holiday weekdays for the resort's entire catchment — and because this package is a flat monthly rate rather than a weekend-loaded one, those four midweek nights cost the same RM489 as everything else. If you have school-age children and the choice, that is the part of September to take.

The two published rates

  • 1-Bedroom Suite — 868 sq ft, priced for 2 guests: RM489 a night, against a published RM671. Stated saving RM182, which is 27.1% off
  • 3-Bedroom Suite — 1,180 sq ft, priced for 5 guests: RM844 a night, against a published RM1,229. Stated saving RM385, which is 31.3% off
  • Both are described as tax inclusive, and the terms specify the nett prices already carry a 10% charge and 8% service tax — the number you see is the number you pay for the room
  • The 1,180 sq ft figure matches the 3 Bedroom Deluxe Suite Lakeview on the room chart: one king, one queen, one single, max 5 adults and 2 children aged 6 and below

Worked examples, in September ringgit

Two adults, one midweek night in the school-holiday window (1-4 September). RM489 all-in with breakfast for two — RM244.50 per person for a five-star suite night, before the dining credit.

Two nights, Tuesday 1 to Thursday 3 September. RM978 for two, both breakfasts included, both nights still inside Cuti Penggal 2.

Five adults, one night. RM844 is RM168.80 per person with breakfast. Two separate 1-Bedroom Suites would cost RM978 and still sleep only four, so the three-bedroom remains the rate that does the most work.

The Malaysia Day midweek break. Tuesday 15 to Wednesday 16 September, one night in the 1-Bedroom Suite: RM489, and you drive home on a public holiday instead of into Thursday traffic.

With dinner. Add an RM150 bill at Cuisines and the RM69 credit takes it to RM81, so the evening lands at RM570 for two, room and dinner.

The RM69 dining credit still is not RM69

Unchanged from August, and still the most misread line in the package. It is a credit that unlocks at RM150 per bill, not a voucher.

  • Below RM150 it does nothing at all
  • At exactly RM150 you pay RM81 — a 46% discount on that one bill
  • On an RM250 bill the same RM69 is a 28% discount
  • The offer page still does not say whether it applies once per stay or once per bill, so ask at booking rather than planning two dinners around it

Cuisines, the poolside restaurant on the Ground Floor of the Clubhouse, is open for dine-in 10am to 10pm.

The Ipoh alternative that sits RM22 away

The most useful comparison in September is not against the resort's own rack rate — it is against the hotel two roads over. Sunway Lost World Hotel shares the same 31150 Sunway City Ipoh address block, and its Stay & Play package runs to 30 September 2026 as well.

Sunway's Exotic Room with Theme Park Ticket is RM511 a night for two, and that includes buffet breakfast, theme park entrance and Hot Springs & Night Park access for both of you. The Haven's RM489 includes breakfast and a conditional RM69 credit, and no tickets to anything.

So the two packages are RM22 apart, and the RM22 buys two theme park days. If you were going to Lost World of Tambun anyway, that is not a close call. If you want a quiet lake, a 600-metre jogging track and a spa, it is not a close call in the other direction. Pick the holiday, not the rate.

Against the resort's own year-round offers

Nothing here stacks with anything else here, so this is a choice of one.

  • Malaysia Stay & Celebrate — RM489, a flat 27.1% off the published RM671, plus breakfast, the RM69 credit and 20% off spa. September nights only
  • Early Bird Special 2026 — up to 20% off Best Available Rates, which on the same RM671 is RM536.80, so RM47.80 more than the Malaysia rate. What it adds that the package does not name: early check-in from 1pm and late check-out until 2pm (subject to availability), a welcome drink at Cuisines, complimentary light refreshments per stay, 10% off dining and 20% off selected spa treatments. Book at least 14 days ahead; valid 1 January to 31 December 2026. This is the lever for October onwards
  • Healthy Break Package — RM999 nett for the first night in a 1 Bedroom Deluxe Suite Lakeview with breakfast for two and a premium health screening for one at Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh, against a stated normal price of RM1,600. Additional nights are RM448 nett — RM41 below the Malaysia Day rate. If you were already going to pay for a screening, the RM510 gap between RM999 and RM489 is what that screening costs you here

Who should book, and who should skip

Worth booking if your dates are in September, you can take 1 to 4 September while the schools are still out, you are travelling as a couple or as a group of five, and you will actually eat and use the spa on site. The economics still tilt hard to the 3-Bedroom Suite at RM168.80 a head.

Skip it if any of these apply. You want a long weekend — September 2026 does not have one, and two days of leave is the entry price. You have a child aged 7 or above and were eyeing the 868 sq ft suite; both categories on the room chart cap children at age 6. You are going to Lost World of Tambun — Sunway's own hotel bundles the tickets for RM22 more. You are travelling as three or four people, which still sits between the two published rates, so call and ask what a 2-Bedroom Deluxe Suite costs under this promotion. Or your dates are in October or later, where Early Bird is the only one of these still available to you.

What you are actually staying in

Facility hours below were re-read on the resort's own pages on 31 August 2026 and are unchanged from August.

  • A 600-metre jogging track around the lake
  • The seahorse-shaped five-level swimming pool — jacuzzi, leisure pool, lap pool, children's pool and wading pool — open daily 7am to 8pm
  • A gym, a steam room at the Clubhouse, and courts for table tennis, badminton, squash, basketball and tennis; facilities generally run 7am to 10pm, with tennis and basketball 9am to 7pm
  • Cuisines, the poolside bar and restaurant on the Ground Floor of the Clubhouse. Breakfast runs in two time-slots, 7am-8.45am and 9am-10.30am; dine-in and self pick-up are 10am to 10pm, room service 11am to 10pm. The resort cites a TripAdvisor ranking of #1 of 528 in Ipoh for it
  • The Haven Spa, First Floor of the Clubhouse, open daily 12pm to 10pm — this is where the 20% applies. Cancel within 3 hours of your appointment and a 50% cancellation fee applies
  • The resort shares the 31150 postcode with Sunway City Ipoh, so you are in the Tambun limestone belt rather than Ipoh old town. Plan the heritage cafes, dim sum and street art as a separate drive-in day

Fine print that trips people up

  • No stacking, at all. "Not applicable with other promotions, vouchers, or discounts" is the resort's own wording, and it rules out Early Bird and the Healthy Break Package
  • The rate is tied to a headcount. RM489 is stated as applying to 2 guests, RM844 to 5. Extra adults are not priced on the offer page — ask
  • Children over six count as adults for occupancy in the resort's chart, and both 868 sq ft categories cap children at age 6
  • Breakfast is capped separately from occupancy. The 1-Bedroom Suite's breakfast covers 2 adults and 1 child; only children aged 1-5 sharing an existing bed are free
  • The dining credit has a floor. RM150 minimum spend per bill, and the page still does not say once per stay or once per bill
  • Breakfast is slotted. Two fixed windows, 7am-8.45am and 9am-10.30am. Pick the second at check-in if you sleep in
  • The pool closes at 8pm, earlier than the rest of the facilities
  • The spa is cashless and age-restricted. No cash — QR, credit, debit or room charge only. Under-16s need parental consent to enter; children aged 10 and above need a signed parental consent form for a treatment
  • "2D1N" versus "per night". The package is described as a two-day-one-night stay while the rate table quotes a per-night price. For two nights, confirm on the phone that the second prices the same way
  • The last day is still the last day. A 2D1N check-in on Wednesday 30 September checks out on 1 October, outside the stated window. Verify that specific booking before planning around it
  • Book direct. The offer page routes only to the resort's phone line (+605-540 0000), WhatsApp and website, and does not say the rate is loaded on third-party sites
