> Quick view: Sunway Lost World Hotel's Stay & Play package runs to 30 September 2026 and every rate is unchanged on a re-check dated 7 September. Three things have moved since our first reading. The hotel is closed on the night of Saturday 26 September, and the booking engine refuses any stay that covers it. Friday is priced exactly like Saturday, not like a weekday, so the RM62 ticket is a Sunday-to-Thursday number. And a Monday check-in cannot be rescued by adding a night.

Theme park hotel packages usually work the other way round. The room is marked up, a ticket is thrown in, and the "value" only exists if you compare against a rack rate nobody pays. Sunway Lost World Hotel's Stay & Play campaign is unusual because the hotel sells both versions of the same room side by side on its own booking engine, which means you can price the ticket component to the ringgit instead of taking the poster's word for it.

We did exactly that on 29 August 2026, searching a run of dates through September on Sunway Lost World Hotel's own reservation system and checking every figure against the theme park's own published rate card. We went back on 7 September 2026 and searched 17 of the 23 remaining check-in dates one at a time. Every headline rate below is still being quoted unchanged, the park's rate card still prices a MyKad adult at RM125, and the campaign artwork is still on the hotel's own server reading 1 July to 30 September 2026. What has changed is which nights you can actually use, and two of the rules we published in August turn out to be wrong.

What the package actually is

The campaign artwork on sunwaylostworldoftambun.com reads: Sunway Lost World Hotel, Stay & Play, promotion period 1 July to 30 September 2026, from RM511 per night, includes theme park and hot springs entrance with breakfast for 2 persons.

On the booking engine the same thing appears under a plainer name. Each room type is listed twice: once as the ordinary rate, described as "Inclusive Breakfast and Tickets to Night Park", and once as a "with Theme Park" rate described as "Inclusive of Breakfast and Theme Park entrance and Night Park access". The RM511 in the poster is not a rounded marketing number. It is the exact quoted rate for an Exotic Room with Theme Park Ticket for two adults on a Sunday-to-Thursday night, taxes and fees included.

That distinction matters because the hot springs half of the promise is not new. Every stay at this hotel already includes buffet breakfast at Garden Terrace and complimentary entrance to the Sunway Lost World Hot Springs & Night Park, along with 35 percent off vouchers for both the night park and the theme park and 20 percent off selected Crystal Spa treatments, all against published rates. The only thing Stay & Play adds is the daytime theme park ticket. So the real question is a narrow one: how much is Sunway charging for that ticket?

The ticket costs RM62, and the gate charges RM125

Here is the arithmetic, taken from the two rates sitting one above the other on the same screen.

An Exotic Room on a Sunday-to-Thursday night is RM387 with breakfast for two and night park access for two. The Exotic Room with Theme Park Ticket on the same night is RM511. The difference is RM124 for two daytime theme park tickets, which is RM62 per person.

Sunway's own Tickets & Rentals page prices a theme park day pass, which covers all parks, rides, activities and attractions apart from the pay-per-ride list, at RM160 for an adult and RM140 for a child or senior citizen at the published walk-in rate, and RM125, RM108 and RM108 at the MyKad rate. Children under 90cm are free. Every one of those figures was still on the page on 7 September 2026.

So the package sells a ticket that a Malaysian adult pays RM125 for at the counter, for RM62. That is not a rounding-error discount. It is half.

The other room types are consistent, and the multi-person ones land in a tight band:

  • Exotic Triple, 3 pax: RM467 becomes RM679. That is RM212 for three tickets, RM70.67 each.
  • Classical Triple, 3 pax: RM488 becomes RM705. That is RM217 for three, RM72.33 each.
  • Family Suite, 4 pax: RM824 becomes RM1,110. That is RM286 for four, RM71.50 each.

Every one of those is below the RM108 a MyKad-holding child pays at the gate, let alone the RM125 adult rate. The two-person Exotic Room at RM62 a head is the single best line on the board, which is worth knowing if you are a couple rather than a family and were assuming the family rooms carried the deeper discount.

One caveat has appeared since August: the Exotic Room is the first thing to sell out. On 7 September it had already gone from Sunday 13, Sunday 20, Thursday 24 and Sunday 27 September, and from Malaysia Day itself. The RM62 line is real and still bookable on other dates, but on a growing number of nights the cheapest package left standing is an Exotic Triple at RM679, which is RM70.67 a head. Check the two-person rate first and do not assume it will be there next week.

Friday is not a weekday, and Saturday is not RM90

There are two price tiers here, not three, and our August reading drew the line in the wrong place.

Sunday through Thursday is the baseline. Exotic RM387 to RM511, Exotic Triple RM467 to RM679, Classical Triple RM488 to RM705, Family Suite RM824 to RM1,110. Wednesday 9, Wednesday 23, Thursday 24, Sunday 27 and Wednesday 30 September all quoted identically, room for room.

Friday and Saturday are one tier up, and they are identical to each other. On Friday 18 September the Exotic Room quotes RM408 without tickets and RM571 with them. Friday 25 September quotes the same. Saturday 19 September quotes the same again. We described the baseline in August as "Sunday to Friday"; it is not. Friday is a premium night, and a Friday check-in costs exactly what a Saturday one does.

Read in full on Saturday 19 September 2026, the weekend tier is:

  • Exotic Room, 2 pax: RM408 becomes RM571. RM163 for two tickets, RM81.50 each.
  • Exotic Triple, 3 pax: RM488 becomes RM743. RM255 for three, RM85.00 each.
  • Classical Triple, 3 pax: RM494 becomes RM764. RM270 for three, RM90.00 each.
  • Family Suite, 4 pax: RM851 becomes RM1,192. RM341 for four, RM85.25 each.

That corrects the other half of the August reading. We wrote that Saturday costs RM85 to RM90 a head, because on the one Saturday we checked, 12 September, the Exotic Room was sold out and the cheapest package was a Classical Triple. The Exotic Room is back on 12 September now, at RM408 and RM571. RM90 was never the Saturday price. It is the Classical Triple price, and the Classical Triple is the worst room on the board per head on both tiers. The real Friday-and-Saturday floor is RM81.50 a ticket: RM19.50 above the baseline, and still RM43.50 under the MyKad gate.

Public holidays sit in the weekend tier too. Malaysia Day, Wednesday 16 September 2026, quoted Classical Triple RM494 to RM764 and Family Suite RM851 to RM1,192 on 7 September, which is Saturday's grid exactly. But the Exotic Room has since sold out on that date, so the RM408 and RM571 pair we quoted for Malaysia Day in August is no longer bookable. A couple who wants the package on 16 September is now looking at a Classical Triple at RM764.

The hotel is closed on Saturday 26 September

This is the finding nothing on the hotel's own website tells you.

Search a one-night stay arriving Saturday 26 September 2026 and the booking engine does not return a thin board or an expensive one. It returns a message: "We Are Closed On September 26, 2026. Please select alternate dates."

It is the night that is blocked, not the arrival. A Friday 25 to Saturday 26 stay, which checks out on the morning of the 26th, books normally at RM408 and RM571. A Friday 25 to Sunday 27 stay, which would put you in the hotel on the night of the 26th, returns the same closed message. Sunday 27 September arrivals are fine, at the baseline RM467 and RM679 for an Exotic Triple.

We could find no published explanation. It is not on the hotel page, not in the theme park's operating hours, and not in any Sunway announcement we could locate on 7 September. Whatever sits behind it — a buyout, maintenance, a private event — the practical effect is blunt. Of the three Saturdays left in this campaign, 12 and 19 September work and 26 September does not exist. If you were holding out for the last weekend of the promotion, that is the weekend to plan around, and Friday 25 is the night to take.

Which September dates the package actually works on

The rule we published in August was that the package is sold when the theme park is open on both the day you check in and the day you check out. That is close, but it is too generous, and the difference matters if you were planning to fix a bad date by staying longer.

We tested it directly. A Monday 14 to Wednesday 16 September two-night stay checks in on an open Monday and checks out on an open Wednesday, Malaysia Day no less. Under the old rule it should carry the package. It does not. The booking engine returns Exotic Triple RM467, Classical Triple RM488, Deluxe RM495, Premier Suite RM597, Family Suite RM824, Super Suite RM873, Haku and Natia at RM1,181, and not one theme park rate.

So the working rule is stricter: the package is withheld if a closed Tuesday falls anywhere inside your stay, from the night you arrive to the day you leave. Adding a night does not rescue a Monday check-in. Moving the whole booking does.

With Perak's Cuti Penggal 2 school break finished on 6 September, that rule now runs unbroken to the end of the campaign. All four remaining Tuesdays, 8, 15, 22 and 29 September, are closed park days, and each one takes the Monday before it down with it. There is no public holiday left inside the window to override it, because Malaysia Day falls on a Wednesday.

Searching the dates one at a time on 7 September 2026, this is what the engine returned:

  • Package available: Wednesday 9, Saturday 12, Sunday 13, Wednesday 16, Friday 18, Saturday 19, Wednesday 23, Thursday 24, Friday 25, Sunday 27 and Wednesday 30 September.
  • Package withheld: Monday 14, Monday 21, Tuesday 22, Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 September, plus the two-night Monday 14 to Wednesday 16 stay.
  • Hotel closed: Saturday 26 September.

We did not individually test Tuesday 8, Thursday 10, Friday 11, Tuesday 15, Thursday 17 or Sunday 20 September. The rule places them: the two Tuesdays are out, the other four are in.

What the room costs once the tickets are paid for

The more useful way to read this package is backwards: assume you were going to buy the tickets anyway, and see what the bed costs on top.

A Malaysian couple. A theme park day for two MyKad adults is RM250. An evening at the Hot Springs & Night Park for two MyKad adults is RM210, since that is ticketed separately at RM105 an adult. Buying both at the gate is RM460, and at the end of it you drive home. The Exotic Room with Theme Park Ticket is RM511 and includes both of those plus a room and two breakfasts. The room and the breakfasts cost RM51. On a Friday or Saturday the same sum runs to RM571 against RM460, so the room costs RM111.

A family of two adults and two children. Theme park at MyKad rates is RM125 twice plus RM108 twice, which is RM466. Night park is RM105 twice plus RM85 twice, which is RM380. Tickets alone are RM846. The Family Suite with Theme Park is RM1,110, which adds a 47 square metre suite with a master bedroom and two single beds in the living room, plus four buffet breakfasts, for RM264. On a Friday or Saturday it is RM1,192, so RM346.

Compare that against the hotel's own published rack rates and the gap widens further. The hotel's site still lists the Exotic Room at RM734 nett per night and the Family Suite at RM1,785 nett as published rates. The live booking engine is quoting RM387 and RM824 for those same rooms before any theme park ticket is added. Treat the published rate card as a ceiling nobody is being asked to pay rather than as the saving.

The end date is real, and nothing has replaced it

Campaign artwork often outlives the campaign, so we checked the boundary rather than trusting the poster, and checked it again on 7 September.

A 30 September 2026 check-in still returns all four theme park packages: Exotic, Exotic Triple, Classical Triple and Family Suite. A 7 October 2026 check-in, a Wednesday like several of the dates that work, still returns none of them. The 30 September end date on the artwork is being enforced by the reservation system, not just printed on a banner.

Nor is a successor staged yet. Nothing on the hotel page announces an October package, the reservation system shows ordinary rates only from 1 October, and the newest campaign the theme park has published is Screamfest 5, whose page is live but currently carries a "stay tuned" placeholder with no dates, no prices and no hotel bundle. If you want this package, the last night you can start it on is 30 September, and the last two baseline-priced nights are Sunday 27 and Wednesday 30.

Fine print worth knowing before you drive to Ipoh

The park closes on Tuesdays. Monday to Friday the theme park runs 11am to 11pm, closed Tuesdays except on Malaysian school and public holidays. Weekends, school holidays and public holidays it runs 10am to 11pm. The ticket page gives the daytime entrance window as 11am to 6pm on weekdays and 10am to 6pm on weekends, so a late arrival can cost you the day even with a valid ticket. The Hot Springs & Night Park runs 6pm to 11pm daily, which is why it is ticketed and priced separately at RM105 a MyKad adult and RM130 walk-in.

Rides that cost extra. The entrance ticket covers all parks, rides, activities and attractions but explicitly excludes pay-per-ride items. Sunway publishes those separately: Haunted Chambers RM10, Kayak RM15, Zip Line RM20, Swan Paddle Boat RM5, Boga Cruise RM6, Gua Datok RM85, 13 High Rope Course RM100 per person with a minimum booking of 10 people, 6th Mile Tunnel RM110 and Via Ferrata with Abseil RM130.

Rentals add up. A double tube is RM32 (a RM22 rental plus a RM10 refundable deposit). A stroller, wheelchair or children's push car is RM43 on the same structure. Lockers are RM28, RM38 or RM55 for small, medium and large, all multiple-use.

Two mandatory charges. Since 1 January 2025 all room rates include a RM3 Perak State Local Service Fee, so it is inside the quoted figure rather than added at check-in. Separately, non-Malaysian guests pay the RM10 per room per night Tourism Tax at check-in, which is not in the quoted rate.

Height, not just age. Children under 90cm enter the theme park free. The child rate applies to children 90cm and above or aged 12 and below. If you are travelling with a toddler, that free entry is worth confirming at the counter before you buy a package sized for them.

Who this is for, and who should skip it

Take it if you are a Malaysian couple or family who were going to do both the daytime park and the evening hot springs anyway, and you can travel Sunday to Thursday. That is the scenario where the room genuinely costs RM51 to RM264 on top of tickets you would have bought regardless, and it removes the drive home after an 11pm hot springs session.

Take it if you are coming from the Klang Valley or Penang for a weekend and can arrive on a Sunday. Our August advice was to swap a Saturday for a Friday; that saves nothing, because the two nights are priced identically. Swapping either for a Sunday saves RM19.50 a head on the ticket and RM21 on the room.

Skip it if you only want the hot springs. Every stay at this hotel already includes night park entry, so the RM387 Exotic Room is your rate and the extra RM124 buys a daytime park visit you are not going to use.

Skip it if your dates land on a Monday or Tuesday check-in and the package is not being offered, and do not try to fix it by adding a night. Booking the ordinary room and buying a park ticket separately at the MyKad gate rate is worse value than the package, but a park that is closed is worse than both.

Skip it if you are chasing the cheapest possible bed in Ipoh. This is a resort hotel attached to a theme park, and the ordinary rooms start at RM387. Sunway City Ipoh is about 15 minutes from Ipoh town, so if the parks are not the point, the town's own hotels will be far cheaper.

How to book it

The package is sold through Sunway Lost World Hotel's own reservation system, reachable from the hotel page on sunwaylostworldoftambun.com. Search your exact dates, then look for the second rate under each room, labelled "with Theme Park" and described as including theme park entrance and night park access. If it is not listed, the package is not available for those dates. If you are looking at the last week of September, remember that 26 September is not bookable at all.
