EV Road Tax in Malaysia 2026: A Proton e.MAS 7 Pays RM180, a BYD Seal Performance RM965, and the Old Table JPJ Still Links
The road tax exemption for electric cars ended on 31 December 2025. We read JPJ's 2026 rate circular line by line: road tax now rises in RM10 to RM350 steps for every 10 kW of motor power, from RM20 up to RM20,000. Most EVs sold in Malaysia pay RM30 to RM335 a year, and Sabah and Sarawak pay the same as the peninsula.
