Unclaimed Money in Malaysia 2026: How to Check Yours Free on eGUMIS, and the Agents, Emails and Apps to Ignore
More than RM13 billion of unclaimed money was sitting with the Registrar of Unclaimed Moneys as at January 2026, and checking whether any of it is yours costs nothing and takes about a minute. The Accountant General's Department runs the eGUMIS portal, you search by identification number, and the Registrar charges no fee, sets no minimum amount and imposes no deadline. Two things are worth knowing right now. First, the Ministry of Finance and the Registrar have never appointed any individual, firm or company as an agent for unclaimed money claims, so anyone offering to recover yours for a cut is not authorised by them. Second, the Registrar has never sent a notification email to the public either: if a message tells you that you have money waiting, it did not come from the department, whatever the letterhead says.
