To mark it, there are all-in one-way fares from RM669 on selected flights, bookable only from 5 to 11 October 2026, for travel up to 31 August 2027. What AirAsia actually announced
AirAsia's newsroom release, dated Sepang 5 October 2026, sets out the deal in a few lines:
- Fare: all-in one-way fares from RM669. "All-in" here means the price already includes the passenger service charge, regulatory service charges, fuel surcharges and other applicable fees. It is valid on selected flights only.
- Booking period: 5 to 11 October 2026.
- Travel period: Ahmedabad 25 October 2026 to 31 August 2027; Amritsar 2 December 2026 to 31 August 2027.
- Frequency: four flights a week on each route.
- Flexibility: a one-time change fee waiver, with no processing fee. Fare differences may still apply.
- Baggage: 20kg of checked baggage for RM30, only when bought during the initial flight booking on AirAsia MOVE, subject to availability, for travel up to 30 November 2026.
Book on the AirAsia MOVE app or airasia.com. The full release is on the AirAsia newsroom.
How to book it, step by step
- Open AirAsia MOVE (needed if you want the RM30 baggage deal) and search Kuala Lumpur to Ahmedabad (AMD) or Amritsar (ATQ).
- Use the fare calendar rather than a single date. "Selected flights" means only some departures carry RM669, and the cheap seats go first.
- If you are flying to Ahmedabad on or before 30 November, add the 20kg baggage at this step. The release says the RM30 price is only for purchase during the initial booking, so adding it later through Manage Booking is not covered.
- Price the return leg separately. The release only describes fares from Kuala Lumpur "to these two vibrant Indian cities", so do not assume the trip home is also RM669.
- Pay before 11:59pm on 11 October.
Worked examples
- Solo traveller, Ahmedabad, early November, hand carry only: RM669 one-way if you land a sale seat. Two people on the same flight pay RM1,338 for the outbound leg.
- Same trip with a suitcase: RM669 plus RM30 for 20kg comes to RM699 per person, because a 25 October to 30 November departure still falls inside the baggage window.
- Amritsar in December with a suitcase: RM669 plus whatever the normal baggage price is on the day. The RM30 offer ends on 30 November and Amritsar flights only start on 2 December, so this route never qualifies.
Who it is good for
- Families visiting relatives. The release itself mentions visiting loved ones. Amritsar is the home of the Golden Temple and a draw for Malaysia's Sikh community, and Ahmedabad links to the wider Gujarati community. A dated, all-in RM669 fare makes it easier to plan trips for Gurpurab, school holidays or a family wedding next year.
- Deepavali in Gujarat. Deepavali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, inside the Ahmedabad window and before the baggage cut-off.
- First-timers to India who want a city break rather than the Delhi or Mumbai crowds. Ahmedabad's old city is a UNESCO World Heritage City, and Amritsar pairs the Golden Temple with the Wagah border ceremony.
Probably skip it if you need to be in Amritsar before December (there are no flights yet), or if you need a fixed date that may not carry the RM669 fare. Compare the final total against other carriers before you pay.
The fine print that trips people up
- "From RM669" is a floor, not a promise. Only selected flights carry it. Peak dates such as December school holidays may price well above it.
- The baggage deal is short. It runs only on trips up to 30 November and only when bought with the flight.
- Change waiver is not free rebooking. You avoid the change fee once, but a pricier new flight means paying the difference.
- Visa timing. The High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur says Malaysians get a free 30-day, double-entry e-Tourist Visa from 1 July 2024 till 31 December 2026, applied through the official Indian e-Visa site. If your trip is in 2027, check whether the free visa has been extended before you rely on it, and use only the official site, not paid agents.
