> Quick view: Amari SPICE Penang has cut its room rates by 20% to 25% for stays from 5 October to 18 December 2026, as long as you book on the hotel's own website by 31 October. A Deluxe King for two is RM360 a night before tax, against a normal flexible rate of RM450, and free ONYX Rewards members pay RM324. Penang only adds 8% SST on top, so two nights in mid-October come to RM777.60 all in. Before you book, compare it with the RM399 Stay Select package: for a couple who wants breakfast, the package is cheaper and comes with an upgrade.
Amari SPICE Penang is the hotel inside the Setia SPICE development in Bayan Lepas, on the island's south side. The hotel lists the airport at about 5 km and the Penang Bridge at about 7 km, so it suits fly-in weekends, events at the SPICE convention centre and arena, and work trips to the Bayan Lepas factories better than a George Town heritage break. It belongs to Thailand's ONYX Hospitality Group, the same group behind Amari Johor Bahru, which is running the same offer. Every price below was read from Amari's own offers, dining and spa pages and from its booking engine on 5 October 2026, for two adults.
What the offer gives you
- 20% off Deluxe and Premier rooms, sold room-only or with breakfast.
- 25% off Executive, Executive Deluxe and One Bedroom Suite rooms, which come with breakfast.
- An extra member discount for ONYX Rewards members, which is free to join. On the booking engine it worked out at 10% more on Deluxe and Premier rooms and 16% more on Executive rooms and suites. The two discounts multiply, so the best case is the 37% Amari advertises.
- RM120 dining credit and RM60 spa credit on Executive to One Bedroom Suite bookings, plus triple ONYX points for members. The credits need a stay of at least two nights.
- Free cancellation up to 7 days before arrival. Cancelling later costs one night.
Real prices: Saturday 17 to Monday 19 October
These are per night, before the 8% SST, for two adults.
- Deluxe King, room only: normal flexible rate RM450. Indulgence RM360. Member RM324.
- Deluxe King with breakfast: normal flexible rate RM530. Indulgence RM424. Member RM382.
- Premier King, room only: Indulgence RM424. Member RM382.
- Executive King with breakfast: Indulgence RM585. Member RM491.
- Executive Deluxe King with breakfast: Indulgence RM623. Member RM523.
- One Bedroom Suite with breakfast: Indulgence RM810. Member RM680.
The rate does not move with the day of the week. A single Wednesday night on 14 October showed the same RM360 and RM324 for a Deluxe King.
Worked examples with tax
- Two nights, Deluxe King room only: RM720 plus RM57.60 SST is RM777.60, the exact total Amari's checkout showed. Members pay RM648, or RM699.84 with tax.
- Two nights, Deluxe King with breakfast: RM848, or RM915.84 with tax. Members pay about RM824 with tax.
- Two nights, Executive King with breakfast: RM1,170, or RM1,263.60 with tax. If you use the RM120 dining and RM60 spa credits, the stay effectively costs about RM1,084. Members pay about RM1,062 before using the credits.
Foreign guests also pay Malaysia's Tourism Tax of RM10 per room per night at check-in. Malaysians and permanent residents do not.
When a package beats the discount
All three packages run for stays from 5 October to 31 December 2026, need at least two nights in a Deluxe room, and must be booked two days ahead. Each includes breakfast and a free upgrade to the next room category.
Stay Select, RM399 a night (RM798 for two nights): adds RM100 of food and drink credit per stay, which can be spent on alcohol. The Indulgence rate with breakfast in a Deluxe room is RM848 for the same two nights, so Stay Select is RM50 cheaper before tax, puts you in a Premier room and leaves RM100 to spend. Only an ONYX member's RM763 beats it on price, and the member would sleep in a Deluxe room with no credit. For most couples, this is the one to book.
Spa-cation, RM444 a night (RM888 for two nights): adds one 60-minute Signature Mood Massage per stay. Two nights on the Indulgence breakfast rate plus a 60-minute Golden Hour massage at Breeze Spa (RM138 nett) comes to about RM1,054 with tax, against about RM959 for the package. Spa-cation saves roughly RM95 and adds the upgrade, but the page says one massage per stay, not one each.
Weekend Spa & Dine Escape, RM544 a night (RM1,088 for two nights): adds a 30-minute massage and the Friday or Saturday Smokey Seafood Special buffet dinner, which sells at RM188 nett per adult on its own. The package page does not say whether the dinner is for one guest or two, and it did not appear in our Saturday-to-Monday search, so ask the hotel before you count on it.
The booking engine does not show a free-cancellation line on these packages the way it does on the Indulgence rate, so read the cancellation terms at checkout before you pick one.
Dining and spa offers you can add
These are open to walk-in guests too, not just people staying over, and all prices include tax.
- Smokey Seafood Special: Friday and Saturday dinner at Amaya Food Gallery, RM188 per adult, RM148 per senior (60 and above) and RM98 per child (6 to 12). Every three paying adults get a fourth in free, so four adults pay RM564, or RM141 each. Book at least five days ahead.
- Amari Signature Hi-Tea: RM98 for two, daily from 2pm to 6pm at Cascade, with TWG teas.
- Workday Indulge buffet lunch: RM118 per adult, RM88 per senior and RM78 per child at Amaya Food Gallery from noon to 2.30pm.
- Coffee, Actually (24 October only): a hi-tea set for two at RM98 plus latte art, coffee painting and three beginner coffee sessions capped at 20 people each. You must pre-purchase by 22 October.
- Breeze Spa: a 30-minute head-and-shoulder or foot massage for RM99, Golden Hour Mood Massages at RM138 (60 minutes) or RM188 (90 minutes), a two-treatment Wellness Journey at RM268 (90 minutes) or RM300 (120 minutes), and a 120-minute Couple Escape at RM600 per couple with a gift set Amari values at RM149.
Who it suits, and who should skip it
It suits Penang islanders who want a quick staycation without crossing town, anyone flying in late or out early, and people attending a concert or event at SPICE. The free cancellation window also helps if your plans might shift.
Skip it if you want to walk George Town's heritage streets or swim at Batu Ferringhi. You will be driving or riding e-hailing each way. It is also bookable on amari.com only, so Agoda or Booking.com will not show these prices.
If you miss the 31 October booking deadline
Amari's offers page lists four weaker direct rates, each for stays to 31 December 2026 and each with an extra 10% for members:
- Same-Day Booking: 10% off tonight's stay, no card needed, free cancellation anytime.
- Plan Ahead, Pay Less: 15% off when you book at least two days ahead, paid in full upfront.
- Quick Escape: 10% off last-minute stays, paid in full upfront.
- Stay Longer Save More: 20% off stays of seven nights or more.
Only the long-stay rate matches the 20% of the current sale, so book a November or December weekend before October ends.
Fine print that trips people up
- Book by 31 October, stay by 18 December. The three packages run to 31 December, but they are not discounted further.
- Prices on the booking page exclude 8% SST. The dining and spa prices already include it.
- Payment timing. On 5 October Amari's checkout said no payment is taken at booking apart from a small verification charge, and the full amount is collected once the 7-day cancellation window closes.
- The page and the conditions disagree on two dining details. The Workday Indulge buffet is advertised for Monday to Friday, but its conditions say Monday to Thursday, and the seafood dinner ends at 10pm on the dining page but 10.30pm on the package page. WhatsApp the hotel on +60 12 956 1030 before you plan around either.
- Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is by 12pm. Bring the physical card you booked with, because Amari asks to see it on arrival.
