> Quick view, 9 September 2026: the RM19.57 Set Combo Merdeka is finished — it ran 15 to 31 August — but Ayam Gepuk Top Global has not taken it off its public menu page, where it still sits under Combo at RM19.57. What is actually running is a "Sept Deals" line-up led by Set Rasa Malaysia at RM16.90, 3pm to 10pm. It looks like the Merdeka deal, in the same red-and-gold artwork with the same giant X2 — but the price line has changed one word, from *Berdua* to *Dua Ketul*, and that turns a meal for two into a meal for one with two pieces of chicken. Two people now pay RM33.80 where they used to pay RM19.57.
The one word that changed the whole deal
Put the two banners side by side and almost nothing moves. Same batik-patterned red field, same gold script, same Jalur Gemilang planted in the rice, same enormous X2 ghosted into the background.
Then read the yellow price roundel.
- August: *"Nikmati Set Berdua Ayam Crispy Pada Harga RM19.57"* — enjoy a set for two, at RM19.57.
- September: *"Nikmati Set Dua Ketul Ayam Crispy pada harga RM16.90"* — enjoy a set of two pieces, at RM16.90.
*Berdua* is two people. *Dua ketul* is two lumps — two pieces of chicken, on one plate, for one person. The X2 that used to mean two diners now means two drumsticks.
The headline above it says so too, once you know what to look for: this month's is "SET 2 CRISPY", where August's was the Merdeka lockup. But the RM16.90 is bigger than the words, it is lower than RM19.57, and the artwork family is identical — which is exactly how a shopper walks in expecting to feed two and walks out having fed one.
What RM16.90 actually buys
From Ayam Gepuk Top Global's own campaign slide, read on 9 September 2026:
- Set Rasa Malaysia — RM16.90. One set: rice, two pieces of crispy chicken, sambal, cucumber, kicap, and the iced sirap shown alongside.
- 3PM – 10PM, printed under the campaign name in the same weight, exactly where "3PM-6PM" sat last month.
- "Promosi sah untuk bahagian kepak dan peha sahaja" — wing and thigh only. No breast, same as the Merdeka set.
- "LIMITED TIME ✦ LIMITED STOCK", and **"*Tertakluk terma dan syarat"**. No end date is printed anywhere on it.
The window is the real upgrade. Last month's three-hour slot fell in the dead zone between lunch and dinner and was unusable for anyone on office hours. Seven hours, ending at 10pm, is a dinner deal — which is the single biggest improvement in the September line-up, bigger than the RM2.67 price cut.
The other two Sept Deals nobody has written up
The same poster carries two more offers, and one of them is the better buy.
Set Crispy Mania. Two tiers, both marked *"Harga sudah termasuk SST%"* — price includes SST:
- Single Crispy — RM14.50 per set. Rice, one piece of the sambal-coated crispy chicken, cucumber, kicap — plus your pick of one: Sirap Ais or Kubis Goreng or Tauhu & Tempe. It is an either/or, not a bundle.
- Set Super Crispy — RM17.90 per set. The artwork calls it *"All in one set"* and names the lot: Nasi. Ayam. Tauhu. Tempe. Kubis goreng. Air Sirap. So RM3.40 over Single Crispy converts a choice of one extra into all four.
"Satu tak cukup?" — the add-on, and the sharpest number on the poster:
- 1 pc — RM4.90, against a stated normal price of RM7.90. That is RM3.00 off, about 38%.
- 2 pcs — RM8.90, against a stated normal price of RM15.80. That is RM6.90 off, about 44% — the deepest cut in the whole September line-up.
- Two conditions in the fine print: "Promosi sah untuk pembelian PWP sahaja" (purchase-with-purchase only — you must be buying something else) and "Promosi tertakluk kepada 2 bahagian ayam sahaja (peha & kepak)".
Worked examples
One person who wants two pieces. Set Rasa Malaysia is RM16.90. The alternative route — Single Crispy at RM14.50 plus one add-on piece at RM4.90 — comes to RM19.40. Set Rasa Malaysia is RM2.50 cheaper, and it prices the second piece of chicken at RM2.40 rather than RM4.90. One caveat: Single Crispy includes an extra of your choosing, and the Rasa Malaysia artwork names no such pick.
One person who wants three pieces. Single Crispy RM14.50 + the 2-pc add-on at RM8.90 = RM23.40, against RM14.50 + RM15.80 = RM30.30 at normal prices. RM6.90 saved. This is the largest absolute saving available in September, and it only works because the add-on is a PWP rider on a set you were buying anyway.
Two people. Two Set Rasa Malaysia = RM33.80. The August Merdeka set fed two for RM19.57. For a couple, September is RM14.23 worse — and that gap, not the RM16.90 headline, is the number that matters if you came here from the Merdeka deal. The cheapest two-person route on the current poster is two Single Crispy at RM29.00.
Someone who wants the most food per ringgit. Set Super Crispy at RM17.90 is one ringgit over Set Rasa Malaysia and swaps the second piece of chicken for tauhu, tempe, kubis goreng and the drink. Whether that is better depends entirely on whether you came for chicken or for dinner.
The dead price that is still on the menu page
This is the part that will catch people out. Set Merdeka, RM19.57, was still listed under the Combo tab on ayamgepuktopglobal.my/menu on 9 September 2026, nine days after the promotion ended, and the brand's own menu catalogue still carried it at RM19.57 with its two compulsory RM0.00 sirap selections intact.
That is not evidence the deal is alive. The September campaign poster has replaced the Merdeka artwork on the brand's channels, and the RM19.57 offer ran to a stated 31 August. It is a stale row, and the brand's public menu page does not print prices at all — so a shopper who finds "Set Merdeka" listed there and then finds RM19.57 quoted in a write-up has every reason to turn up expecting a price that no longer exists.
Treat the September poster as the price list, and the menu page as a stale index.
The 10pm that is really 9.30pm
Set Rasa Malaysia is advertised to 10pm. The brand's own published hours do not reach that.
- ayamgepuktopglobal.my's site footer: *"Mon – Sun: 11.30 AM – 9.30 PM. We're open on public holiday."*
- The brand's branch directory, read 9 September 2026: 50 of the 53 listed locations carry 11.30am to 9.30pm. The exceptions are three one-off rows, one of them the Sungai Besi listing at 9am–11pm.
- The operating-hours slide on the brand's ordering system: 10am to 10pm daily, with a temporary Friday closure 1pm to 2.30pm for Friday prayers.
Two official sources, two different answers. The directory and the website footer agree with each other and disagree with the slide. Practically: assume the last order is around 9.15pm, not 9.55pm, and if you are making a special trip after 9pm, phone the branch. Friday afternoons carry the prayer closure whichever set of hours is right.
Do not try to order ahead
The August advice on this point is now obsolete and worth correcting explicitly. Ayam Gepuk Top Global's /pickup page reads "ONLINE ORDER • COMING SOON", describing an ordering and pickup experience it is "currently preparing". Every one of the 53 rows in its branch directory carries online ordering as unavailable.
The brand's Linktree still labels ayamgepuktopglobal.my the "TAKEAWAY WEBSITE", which it currently is not. The September deals are counter purchases at an outlet. There is no online window to miss, and no pick-up cut-off — the only clock that matters is 3pm to close.
One standing perk survives all of this and is worth factoring in: the brand advertises unlimited free refills of nasi and sambal in its Facebook bio and on its site. It is not part of any promotion, so it applies to a RM14.50 Single Crispy as much as to the RM16.90 set.
Where you can use it
The brand's own branch directory listed 49 Ayam Gepuk Top Global outlets when we read it on 9 September 2026 — the same count as on 20 August — plus the Plaza KLTS head office and two Bebek By Top Global units at Cheras and Kota Warisan, which are a different brand.
By state, the Ayam Gepuk network reads: Selangor 21, Kuala Lumpur 7, Johor 6, Kedah 4, Negeri Sembilan 3, Melaka 2, Penang 2, Putrajaya 1, Perlis 1, Perak 1, with a handful of newer rows — Wangsa Delima, Bandar Tasik Puteri, Kuantan, Sungai Besi — carried without a state field.
Two things to note. The Facebook page bio claims "57 CAWANGAN DI MALAYSIA", eight more than the directory lists; where a brand's bio and its own directory disagree, the directory is the one that gets maintained. And the East Coast outlets that opened on 8 August 2026 — Dungun and Gong Badak in Terengganu, Kota Bharu and Kubang Kerian in Kelantan — do not appear as directory rows, though the brand's own social posts reference Dungun as an operating location. If you are in Terengganu or Kelantan, call before travelling.
Who this is for, and who should skip it
Worth going out of your way for if you eat alone or in a pair of separate orders, if you want dinner rather than a 4pm meal, if you were buying ayam gepuk anyway and can bolt the 2-pc PWP add-on onto it, or if you have been putting off a visit because the old window was unusable.
Skip it if you are two people looking for the Merdeka price — that deal is gone and September is RM14.23 worse for a couple; if you want breast meat, because both the set and the add-on are wing-and-thigh only; if you were planning to order online, because you cannot; or if you are relying on a 9.45pm arrival, because most branches publish a 9.30pm close.
Fine print that trips people up
- "Dua ketul", not "berdua". RM16.90 is one set with two pieces of chicken, not two sets. This is the single most likely misreading of the September campaign.
- Kepak and paha only on both Set Rasa Malaysia and the PWP add-on. No dada.
- The add-on is PWP. RM4.90 and RM8.90 are riders on another purchase, not standalone prices.
- 3pm to 10pm on the poster; 11.30am to 9.30pm in the branch directory and the site footer. Plan for 9.30pm.
- Friday 1pm to 2.30pm is a temporary closure for prayers on the brand's hours notice.
- No online ordering. /pickup says "coming soon" and the directory flags every branch as unavailable for it, despite the Linktree calling the site a takeaway website.
- No end date is published. The poster says "LIMITED TIME" and "LIMITED STOCK" only. We have taken the brand's own "Sept Deals" title at face value and treat the line-up as a September run; that is our read, not a stated date.
- Limited stock is real. "Limited stock" on a promotional chicken cut means an outlet can run out inside the window; late arrivals on a weekend are a gamble.
- The RM19.57 Merdeka price is dead and should not be quoted from the menu page, where it still appears.
- Terms and conditions apply, per the poster; no fuller terms are published online.
What the Merdeka set was, for the record
It ran 15 to 31 August 2026, as reported by The Rakyat Post on 19 August 2026. RM19.57 — a deliberate nod to 1957 — bought two complete Ayam Crispy sets, nasi, ayam, sambal and sayur twice over, plus two iced sirap included at no charge (the brand's catalogue attached two compulsory RM0.00 sirap selections to the combo, which is what settled it). SST was inside the price. The window was 3pm to 6pm, wing or thigh only, RM0.47 per set for takeaway.
Against the single-portion Set Top Crispy at RM13.68 in the same catalogue, two of which come to RM27.36, the Merdeka set saved RM7.79, about 28% — and its RM9.79 per head matched, to the sen, the à-la-carte cost of Nasi (RM2.36) plus Ayam Goreng Crispy (RM7.43). It was the better couples' deal by some distance, and it is not coming back this month.
