> Quick view: Two campaigns are live at Texas Chicken Malaysia this week that most round-ups have not caught. Back to School, 7–11 September 2026 only, 12pm–6pm: a Porridge Star Box for RM9.90 and three Star Box combos — Zesty Crunch Wrap, Tex Sampler, Zesty Crunch Burger — at RM12.90 each, at every branch except Genting, KLIA2 and R&R Skudai. Separately, a limited-edition plushie at RM9.90 with a RM40 minimum spend, released in three designs across September. Underneath both, the three standing weekday deals continue: Awesome Mondays (RM19.99), Classic Tuesdays (RM10.50) and Wrap Wednesdays (RM13.99).
Live right now: Back to School, five days only
Texas Chicken Malaysia posted a Back to School Promo to its Facebook and Instagram feeds. It runs 7 September to 11 September 2026 — five days — and only between 12pm and 6pm:
- Porridge Star Box — RM9.90, against a printed normal price of RM15.80, so RM5.90 off
- Zesty Crunch Wrap Star Box — RM12.90, N.P. RM17.90, RM5.00 off
- Tex Sampler Star Box — RM12.90, N.P. RM18.40, RM5.50 off
- Zesty Crunch Burger Star Box — RM12.90, N.P. RM17.90, RM5.00 off
All four are Star Box Combos, and the brand's own ordering-portal banner for that range states that every Star Box combo comes with a large drink. So RM12.90 buys a main, a side, a sauce and a large soft drink — not a single item.
The terms printed on the poster are tighter than the weekday deals':
- Dine-in, take-away and drive-thru only. Not available via Delivery or the Food Truck
- Excludes the Genting, KLIA2 and R&R Skudai stores. This is the branch-level exclusion the weekday deals do not have — those three posters carry no participating-outlets clause at all
- While stocks last, and choice of chicken parts is subject to availability
- The 12pm–6pm window sits entirely outside the 4am–11am breakfast blackout, so for once that restriction is irrelevant
One honest caveat on the normal prices: the Star Box banner states plainly that prices vary according to restaurants. Treat RM15.80, RM17.90 and RM18.40 as the reference figures printed on the artwork, not a guarantee of what your branch was charging last week.
Which is cheaper this week: Back to School or the weekday deal?
The weekday posters say the offers cannot be combined with any other promotion, so on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday you have to pick one. Between 12pm and 6pm, both are on the board:
- Monday 7 September — Awesome Mondays is 5pc chicken for RM19.99, no drink. A Back to School Star Box is RM12.90 with a large drink but one main. Feeding two or more, Monday's chicken still wins on volume; eating alone, RM12.90 with a drink is the cheaper plate
- Tuesday 8 September — Classic Tuesdays is RM10.50 for 2 Classic Burgers, no drinks, RM5.25 a head. That is the cheapest thing in this article and it beats Back to School outright if two of you are sharing
- Wednesday 9 September — Wrap Wednesdays is RM13.99 for 2 Tex Wraps, no drinks. The Zesty Crunch Wrap Star Box is RM12.90 for one wrap plus chicken, a side and a large drink. Two people are better off on Wrap Wednesdays; one person is better off on the Star Box
- Thursday 10 and Friday 11 September — there is no weekday deal on a Thursday or a Friday, so Back to School is the only priced offer on the board. These are the two days it is unambiguously worth using
The RM9.90 plushie, and the RM40 trap Back to School sets
Running alongside all of this is a purchase-with-purchase the article missed until now: a limited-edition Texas Chicken plushie with a foldable tote bag for RM9.90, with a minimum spend of RM40 in a single receipt. Three designs are released on a stagger:
- Wrap — 1 September 2026 (already out)
- Fries — 10 September 2026 (lands inside the Back to School window)
- Burger — 20 September 2026
The poster's terms: for a limited time only, available at all Texas Chicken Malaysia outlets while stocks last, price includes 6% SST, and not available via Delivery or the Food Truck. No end date is published.
Here is the part worth doing arithmetic on. The Back to School discount can push you *under* the plushie's threshold:
- Four Porridge Star Boxes at RM9.90 = RM39.60. That is 40 sen short of RM40 — no plushie
- Three Porridge Star Boxes plus one RM12.90 set = RM42.60. Clears it, and is the cheapest Back to School basket that does
- Three RM12.90 sets = RM38.70. Also short, by RM1.30
- Four RM12.90 sets = RM51.60. Clears it — and at normal prices those same four would have been about RM72
At full menu prices, one Zesty Crunch Wrap, one Tex Sampler and one Zesty Crunch Burger come to RM54.20 and clear RM40 without thinking about it. Discounted to RM12.90 each they come to RM38.70 and do not. The markdown is real, but if the plushie is what you came for, count the receipt before you order.
Two things neither poster answers, so ask at the counter: whether the RM40 is measured before or after the Back to School discount, and whether a Back to School receipt counts toward the plushie at all. The plushie is a purchase-with-purchase rather than one of the weekday deals, and neither campaign's artwork mentions the other.
The deal most write-ups miss: Classic Tuesdays
Almost every Malaysian round-up of Texas Chicken's weekday offers names two deals — Monday's chicken and Wednesday's wraps. Texas Chicken Malaysia's own website lists three. Sitting between them is Classic Tuesdays: 2 Classic Burgers for RM10.50, every Tuesday, on exactly the same terms as the other two.
It is the cheapest way into the brand on a weekday, and at RM5.25 a burger it is the only one of the three that comes in under RM6 a head.
One honest caveat: Texas Chicken's own artwork contradicts itself on what you are saving, and it still did on 7 September 2026. The square poster in the website's Promotions carousel prints the normal price as N.P: RM12.50 — a RM2.00 saving. The wide "Weekday Savings" poster on the brand's ordering portal prints N.P: RM19.98 for the identical RM10.50 offer — a RM9.48 saving. RM19.98 is exactly two à la carte burgers at RM9.99, which is the more plausible of the two, but we are not going to state a saving the brand prints two ways. What is not in dispute is the price you hand over: RM10.50.
The three weekday deals in full
- Awesome Mondays — 5pc fried chicken for RM19.99, against a printed normal price of RM31.99, so a RM12.00 saving. Choice of chicken parts is subject to availability
- Classic Tuesdays — 2 Classic Burgers for RM10.50. Normal price printed as either RM12.50 or RM19.98, depending on which of Texas Chicken's two posters you read
- Wrap Wednesdays — 2 Tex Wraps for RM13.99, against RM27.60, so a RM13.61 saving. Original or Spicier Spicy
All three carry an identical terms block on the artwork: valid for Dine-In, Takeaway and Drive-Thru only; not valid for Delivery and Food Truck, nor with any other promotion, offer or discount; not available during breakfast hours (4am — 11am) at Texas Chicken Breakfast Restaurants; and each is valid only on its own weekday, except public holidays and replacement public holidays.
That last clause has a date attached to it this month. Malaysia Day falls on Wednesday 16 September 2026, a gazetted national public holiday — so Wrap Wednesdays will not run that day. It resumes on Wednesday 23 September. Mark it now, because nothing on the poster or the website will remind you on the day.
No coupon, code, app or membership is involved. You ask for the deal by name at the counter or the drive-thru speaker.
Which branches actually have the breakfast blackout
The one restriction that is branch-specific — the 4am–11am blackout at "Texas Chicken Breakfast Restaurants" — is published, in two places that do not quite agree.
Texas Chicken Malaysia's own store locator now lists 106 Malaysian outlets, down from 108 a week earlier, and 43 of them carry a Breakfast facility tag. Those are the branches where a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday morning visit before 11am gets you regular menu pricing.
The "Rise & Shine" poster in the website's carousel names its breakfast branches outright — but only 37 of them, across nine states. Six or seven branches the locator flags are missing from it, most of them recent openings:
- Johor — Taman Mutiara Mas DT and Setia Tropika
- Selangor — Petron Bandar Seri Putra DT (Kajang) and Selayang 168 Park
- Putrajaya — Caltex Presint 14 Drive-Thru
- Penang — AEON Bukit Mertajam
- Kedah — Amanjaya DT, Sungai Petani
It also runs the other way once: the poster lists Sky Avenue, Genting Highlands as a breakfast branch, and the locator does not tag it — only the other Genting outlet, Awana SkyCentral, carries the tag. Where the two disagree, the locator is the longer and the more current list.
The 43 skew heavily toward petrol-station drive-thrus and 24-hour sites — Caltex Putrajaya, Shell Sungai Besi, Petronas Alor Setar, KLIA2, Awana SkyCentral Genting — plus a handful of malls including Mid Valley Megamall, 1 Utama and Sunshine Square Bayan Baru. If your nearest branch is a mall unit that opens with the mall, the blackout will never affect you; if it is a 24-hour drive-thru, it will.
Note that this matters less than usual this week: Back to School runs 12pm–6pm, well clear of the blackout.
Live limited-time offers right now
- Zesty Teriyaki Tenders & Fries — still running, 26 August to 23 September 2026. 4pc Tenders à la carte RM14.90; Zesty Teriyaki Fries RM7.90. Prices include 6% SST. It has dropped off the homepage Promotions carousel but the banner is still carried on the ordering portal, and its own terms say selected restaurants only, so it is worth calling ahead
- Ayam Aneka Rasa — a new push added to the homepage carousel, tagged *untuk masa terhad sahaja, sementara stok masih ada* (limited time only, while stocks last). No dates and no price are published
- Jalapeño Bombers — a second new carousel slide, also undated and unpriced. The item is not new to the menu: 6pc Jalapeño Bombers are already one of the four compartments in the RM19.90 Snack Platter
- Tex Deals — the brand's value platform, rebuilt around three tiers (1pc chicken / Classic Burger / Tender Wrap for "Me Time"; Tex Rice and rice bowls including a new Kantan Cili Rice Bowl; and 2pc chicken plus a burger or wrap for groups). No prices are printed on the artwork
- Snack Platter — RM19.90 for 6pc Nuggets, 6pc Jalapeño Bombers, 3pc Onion Rings and 1 Regular Fries. Still on the ordering portal, but read the small print: the poster calls RM19.90 an "introductory price", limited time only, and adds that prices may vary according to restaurants. Treat RM19.90 as indicative rather than a fixed national price
- New Onion Rings (plain or Spicy Onion Rings) and Nachos Mexicana are both flagged on the ordering portal as new and for a limited time while stocks last. Neither banner prints a price
What has ended
The RM23.50 Tex Flash Deal — 2 sets of Fried Chicken Combo — ran for two days only, 26 and 27 August 2026, and is over. It no longer appears in Texas Chicken Malaysia's Promotions carousel or its ordering-portal banners.
The Promosi Merdeka posted on 30 August — 8pc chicken for RM31.00 against RM51.30, and a 4pc tenders and 4 large drinks add-on for RM31.00 against RM41.60 — was explicitly marked 31 Ogos 2026 sahaja, one day only, and is gone.
The free Coca-Cola phone holder with 2 combo meals at eight named branches, announced on the brand's Facebook page on 21 August 2026 with no published end date, is also no longer carried on either of Texas Chicken Malaysia's live promo feeds. If a branch still has stock it is a bonus, not a plan.
How to pick
- It is Thursday or Friday this week? Back to School is the only deal on the board — RM9.90 porridge or RM12.90 for a full Star Box with a large drink, 12pm to 6pm
- Eating alone on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday? The RM12.90 Star Box beats the weekday deals, because they are all priced for two or more and none of them include a drink
- Feeding two on a budget? Classic Tuesdays at RM10.50 is the lowest entry price of the week — RM5.25 a head, and it beats anything in the Back to School line-up on a per-person basis
- Feeding a group? Awesome Mondays is the biggest absolute saving on the board at RM12.00, and 5pc chicken splits three ways comfortably
- Chasing the plushie? Count to RM40 on one receipt before you order, and remember that four RM9.90 porridge sets land you 40 sen short
- Going to Genting, KLIA2 or R&R Skudai? Back to School does not apply at any of the three. The weekday deals and the plushie still do
- Ordering in? None of this survives a delivery app. GrabFood, foodpanda and ShopeeFood all price at regular menu rates, and so do the Food Truck and, for Back to School and the plushie, delivery of any kind
Fine print worth knowing
- No stacking, including with each other. Back to School and a weekday deal both run 12pm–6pm on 7, 8 and 9 September — you pick one
- Back to School excludes Genting, KLIA2 and R&R Skudai, is dine-in / take-away / drive-thru only, and is while stocks last
- Public holidays and replacement public holidays are out on all three weekday deals. In September that means Wrap Wednesdays does not run on Malaysia Day, Wednesday 16 September 2026
- Star Box prices vary by restaurant on the brand's own admission, so the printed normal prices are a reference, not a promise
- Chicken parts are subject to availability on Awesome Mondays and on Back to School; both posters say so explicitly
- The plushie has no published end date — only "while stocks last" and three release dates, the last on 20 September 2026
- Texas Chicken Malaysia reserves the right to amend the terms without prior notice, which is on every poster here
- Buying vouchers in bulk? The brand's own voucher store publishes a corporate discount ladder — 2% from RM5,000 of cash vouchers up to 7% above RM70,000, and 2% to 10% on meal vouchers by piece count from 500 pieces. It starts far above anything a household would buy
Check Texas Chicken Malaysia's official site or its official Facebook page for the current line-up and your nearest outlet. Every price, date and term on this page was re-read on 7 September 2026 off Texas Chicken Malaysia's own channels: the Promotions carousel on malaysia.texaschicken.com (the three weekday posters, Rise & Shine, Tex Deals, Ayam Aneka Rasa, Jalapeño Bombers), the brand's ordering-portal banners (Zesty Teriyaki, Star Box Combos, Snack Platter, Onion Rings, Nachos Mexicana and the wide Weekday Savings poster), the Back to School and plushie posters on the official Facebook and Instagram accounts, the official voucher store, and the official store locator (106 outlets, 43 tagged Breakfast).
