> Quick view: Nando's Malaysia has three free 1/4 Chicken offers landing on 9, 10 and 11 September 2026, and they are genuinely three different promotions with three different rulebooks. Tuesday is the Pavilion ELITE KL reopening, 50 portions, counter only. Wednesday is the brand new Coalfields Retail Park outlet in Sungai Buloh, 100 portions, counter only. Friday is nationwide and app only, and it will not work unless you type a promo code that Nando's never publishes in full. The first two cost you RM7.90 because they require a Bottomless Soft Drink. The third can cost as little as RM4.50, because it only requires "any other menu item" and the cheapest thing on the menu is bottled water.
Three offers, two pages, no cross-reference
The reason almost nobody has these three lined up is that Nando's publishes them in two unrelated places. The nationwide one sits on Extra Hot News with a picture and step-by-step instructions. The two outlet openings sit on Terms and Conditions, a page that reads like a legal appendix and carries no artwork at all. Neither page mentions the other, and the outlet promos are dated by their posting stamps, 4 and 8 September, rather than announced anywhere prominent.
Put side by side, they run on consecutive days and hand out the same item, and that is where the useful comparison starts.
Tuesday 9 September: Pavilion ELITE KL, 50 portions
Nando's Pavilion ELITE reopens today with a promo the terms describe tersely. It is valid only at that outlet, only on 9 September 2026, dine-in only, from 10:00am, first come first served, and limited to 50 redemptions only, while stocks last. You get one free 1/4 Chicken with a minimum purchase of a Bottomless Soft Drink, one redemption per transaction, and redemption is available over the cashier counter only.
That last clause is the one to plan around. Nando's has spent the last two years pushing customers onto the app and the table QR, and its April contest terms went as far as voiding any promo code applied to a counter payment. This offer inverts that completely: if you sit down and order on your phone, you have not claimed it.
There was a second oddity, and Nando's has now fixed it mid-day. On the morning of its own reopening, the restaurant locator still listed the outlet as Temporarily Closed. Re-checked on the afternoon of 9 September, the same entry reads "Everyday 10am-10pm" — the listing now shows "Pavilion, Lot No 1.105.00, Pavilion Elite 166, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, 03-21105635" as trading normally. If you looked that up before lunch and concluded the shop was shut, that was the locator lagging, not the promo being dead.
Coalfields, by contrast, is *still* missing from the locator on the eve of its own promo, so do not use nandos.com.my/restaurants to check tomorrow's outlet exists. It does. The terms are the proof, not the locator.
Fifty portions, at a Bukit Bintang mall, from 10am on a weekday. Treat this as a breakfast-hour offer, not a lunch one.
Wednesday 10 September: Coalfields Retail Park, 100 portions
Tomorrow the same mechanic runs at a Nando's that does not exist yet on any of the brand's own lists. Coalfields Retail Park is KLK Land's first mall, a 21-acre hybrid indoor and outdoor development in Bandar Seri Coalfields, Sungai Buloh, which opened to the public on 20 August 2026. Nando's is one of the tenants filling in behind that opening, and its terms give it 10 September, all day from 10:00am, dine-in only, first come first served, limited to 100 redemptions.
Again it is one free 1/4 Chicken with a minimum spend of one Bottomless Soft Drink in a single transaction, again the redemption is over the cashier counter only, and again the offer cannot be combined with any other promotion, discount, voucher or offer.
Twice the cap of the Pavilion promo, in a suburban retail park rather than a city-centre mall, so the odds here are better. The outlet is not on nandos.com.my/restaurants yet, which is why it does not appear in the 80 the locator currently lists. When it does, it becomes number 81.
Friday 11 September: the code you have to make up
This is the one most readers can actually reach, and it is the strangest. Nando's calls it 137 Ways to Say Free Chicken, and the whole conceit is that Malaysia has an enormous number of words for the same bird.
The voucher is not pushed to your account. You create it. Nando's own steps run like this:
- Open My Rewards, under Reward, in the Nando's app.
- Key in a promo code starting with AYAM followed by any dialect of the word "chicken". Nando's gives two worked examples: AYAMMANOK and AYAMJI.
- Dine in and scan the table QR with the app.
- Add 1/4 Chicken in PERi-gula Melaka, from the Secret Menu category, to your cart.
- Add any other item, to satisfy the with-any-purchase condition.
- Tap Checkout Now and apply the voucher.
- Review and tap Ready to Pay. The 1/4 Chicken comes off the bill.
The campaign artwork is covered in candidate words, printed as background text: Manok, Ji, Gai, Ke, Goi, Galina, Pitik, Ayam, Aya, Koli, Ayaeng, Hayam, Ayang, Kukkar, Kodi, Chikan, Ayap, Aye and Murgh among them. Nando's does not say which of those are accepted codes and which are decoration, and it publishes no list. The only two it commits to in writing are the two examples. If your first attempt bounces, try another word rather than assuming the promo is over, and keep in mind the artwork also carries the line "While stocks last" even though the terms set no numerical cap.
Three further conditions matter. The offer is open exclusively to registered Nando's App Members, so a walk-in with no account gets nothing. The flavour is fixed: PERi-gula Melaka cannot be substituted, changed or customised, which rules out asking for Lemon and Herb or Extra Hot. And each voucher is good for one redemption only.
PERi-gula Melaka is itself a limited-time basting introduced for Merdeka and Malaysia Day, sitting between Lemon and Herb and Mild on Nando's heat scale. If you have been curious about it, this is the cheapest possible way to try it.
What each day actually costs, in ringgit
We read the prices off Nando's own menu page on 9 September.
A 1/4 Chicken on its own is RM21.90. With one side it is RM25.90, and with two sides RM28.90. A Bottomless Soft Drink is RM7.90, as is the Bottomless RUBRO Peach Iced Tea. The cheapest single item anywhere on the menu is Bottled Water at RM4.50, followed by Iced Milo at RM6.50 and the Lemon Lime Cooler at RM7.50. A regular side is RM8.90.
On Tuesday or Wednesday, then, the minimum ticket is RM7.90 for the drink and you walk out having eaten RM29.80 of menu for RM7.90. That is a saving of RM21.90 and a 73% cut on the pair.
On Friday, the qualifying purchase is looser: any other menu item. Order bottled water at RM4.50 and you have RM26.40 of food and drink for RM4.50, an 83% cut. Most people will want more than water with a chicken leg, so the realistic version is a regular side at RM8.90, which gets you a 1/4 Chicken and one side for RM8.90 against the RM25.90 that combination normally costs. That is RM17.00 saved, and it is the number worth carrying in your head rather than the RM21.90 headline, because the a-la-carte price of the chicken is not what Nando's charges for it when it is bundled with a side.
Add a Bottomless Soft Drink to that Friday order and you are at RM16.80 for a meal that normally lists at RM33.80.
The loyalty trap nobody mentions
Nando's runs a Chillies programme, and it interacts badly with all three of these offers.
Under the published loyalty terms, a member earns one Chilli per visit on a minimum spend of RM30, capped at one Chilli per day, and every third Chilli automatically credits a free chicken meal valid for three months. That reward can be spent on a 1/4 Chicken with one side, a Happy Trio Chicken Bowl, a Crispy Cheese Burger, a Crispy Cheese Wrap, a PERi-chicken Rice Bowl, a Veggie Burger or a Veggie Wrap. Three qualifying visits at RM30 each is RM90 for a roughly RM25.90 meal, so the standing programme returns around 29%.
Every one of this week's free-chicken minimums sits far below that RM30 line. RM7.90 on Tuesday and Wednesday, RM4.50 on Friday. You will not earn a Chilli on any of them unless you spend RM30 on the rest of the order. And the two opening promos say in terms that they cannot be combined with any other promotion, discount, voucher or offer, which on a plain reading also blocks redeeming an existing Chilli reward in the same transaction.
If you are close to your third Chilli, the sensible play is to take Friday's free chicken and spend past RM30 on the rest of the table, rather than treating the free item as the whole visit.
Who this is good for, and who should not bother
Go for it if you are in Bukit Bintang before mid-morning today, or anywhere near Sungai Buloh tomorrow, and you are happy to order at a counter and pay for a drink. Go for it on Friday if you already have the Nando's app, you can dine in, and you want to try PERi-gula Melaka before it disappears with the Malaysia Day campaign.
Skip it if you were planning to order delivery. All three are dine-in, and Nando's excludes GrabFood and foodpanda transactions from its loyalty programme entirely. Skip Tuesday and Wednesday if you cannot be there in the morning, because 50 and 100 portions with no reservation mechanism will go early. Skip Friday if you refuse to install an app, since there is no counter version of it.
And skip the drive altogether if you are in Terengganu, Perlis or Labuan, where Nando's has no outlet at all, or in Kelantan, where the state's only branch at AEON Mall Kota Bharu is listed as Temporarily Closed. Selangor readers should check before setting off too: AEON Rawang is also marked Temporarily Closed on the locator, which is easy to miss in a state that otherwise has 26 branches. The Friday promo is nationwide in its terms, but Nando's footprint is not. The locator shows 80 outlets: 26 in Selangor, 23 in Kuala Lumpur, five each in Johor, Penang and Sarawak, three each in Melaka, Perak and Putrajaya, two each in Negeri Sembilan and Sabah, and one each in Kedah, Pahang and Kelantan.
Fine print worth reading twice
- Non-stackable, all three. Each set of terms rules out combining with other promotions, discounts, vouchers or offers.
- Not exchangeable. The free 1/4 Chicken cannot be swapped for cash, another menu item or any other compensation.
- Counter versus app is reversed between the offers. Tuesday and Wednesday are counter only. Friday is app only. Getting this backwards is the single most likely way to miss out.
- One redemption per transaction on the opening days, and one redemption per voucher on Friday.
- Nando's reserves the right to amend or withdraw any of this without prior notice, which is stated in all three sets of terms.
