Ipoh plays a lot of badminton for a city its size, and almost all of it is now booked online. Eight of the halls we could price take bookings on Courtsite or AFA (playsportstogether.com), which means the real rate is on a booking page rather than a faded poster at the counter. The trouble is that those pages do not agree with each other on anything: when the evening band starts, whether SST is added, or what happens if you cancel.

We read every rate below on 18 October 2026 on each venue's own booking channel, in the live "Opening hours & Pricing" window on Courtsite and the live slot window on AFA. On three Courtsite pages (YMCA, Falim and Ace Space) the price text that loads before the window opens was out of date, so the figures here come from the window itself.

How to choose a hall in Ipoh

Decide when you play before you compare prices. The hourly range across these halls is only RM10 to RM20, but the time of day moves your bill more than the hall does. Most halls switch to an evening rate at 5pm, while YMCA and Ace Space wait until 7pm. If you finish work at 5.30pm, a 5.30pm to 7pm session at YMCA or Ace Space costs RM14 to RM15 an hour against RM17 to RM19 elsewhere.

Late night is the real bargain. Ipoh is unusual in pricing the 10pm to midnight slot below the after-work slot. YMCA charges RM10 an hour from 10pm on weekdays, Falim sells a 2-hour block for RM19 from 10pm every day, and Ace Space drops back to RM15. A doubles group that can start at 10pm pays about half what it pays at 8pm.

Check whether SST is on top. Only X Park prints "Price shown excludes 6% SST". The others print no tax line at all, which is not the same as saying no tax is charged, so look at the checkout total before you pay.

Weekends are not always dearer. Yuk Choy is cheaper at weekends (RM18) than on weekdays (RM20), and YMCA, Ace Space and Falim charge one flat weekend rate of RM15 to RM16 all day.

Read the cancellation rule first. Every hall here refuses refunds. The difference is rescheduling: Ace Space, X Park, Sooper, Yuk Choy and Lahat Baru allow one change with 48 hours' notice, Younique leaves it to the venue, and YMCA allows no change at all.

The halls we did not list as items

Seri Botani International School Sports Centre in Bandar Seri Botani opens its six courts to the public at RM18 an hour, but only from 5pm on weekdays (with a 2-hour minimum from 7pm) and 8am to 11pm at weekends, and you register at the Gate C guardhouse. Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI) lists its Arena Badminton at the Kompleks Sukan MBI on its myArena booking portal at RM12 per 2 hours on weekdays and RM17 per 2 hours at weekends and on public holidays. That would be the cheapest court in the city, but the portal does not say whether the rate is per court, needs an account to book, and carries an old footer, so call MBI on 05-208 3333 before you plan around it.

How to pick, in one minute

  • Weekday after work, cheapest: Lahat Baru (RM14 until 8pm) if you live south-west, Younique (RM16) if you are near Ampang Baru.
  • Same-day booking at peak: Falim (25 courts) or Ace Space (20 courts).
  • Late-night group: YMCA at RM10 an hour, or Falim's RM19 two-hour block.
  • Daytime on a day off: X Park at RM10 plus SST, or Sooper at RM11 from 6am.
  • Town centre, no driving across Ipoh: Yuk Choy on Jalan Sultan Iskandar or YMCA on Jalan Raja Musa Aziz.
  • Just two players: Sooper is the only hall we found that rents a half court (RM8 by day, RM10 in the evening).

Rates on booking platforms change often, sometimes within days, so treat this as a snapshot of 18 October 2026 and confirm the price on the booking page before you pay.
