Why Johor Bahru Needs Its Own List
Johor Bahru households looking for a domestic helper generally don't want to deal with an agency whose office and after-placement support team sit in Petaling Jaya or Cheras. JB's rental market, cross-border commuting patterns (many employers work in Singapore), and the sheer size of Iskandar Malaysia — stretching from the city centre through Skudai to Permas Jaya and Pasir Gudang — mean local turnaround time and a physical office you can actually walk into matter more here than almost anywhere else in the country.
All domestic helper agencies operating legally in Malaysia must be licensed private employment agencies under the Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Semenanjung Malaysia (JTKSM, the Peninsular Malaysia Department of Labour) and registered with the Immigration Department for foreign worker placements. We did not source or verify individual licence numbers for this list — that's a document you should ask any shortlisted agency to show you directly before signing anything — but every agency below operates openly under a registered Sdn Bhd company name with a listed office you can visit in person.
This edition is a companion to our nationwide maid agency guide, and deliberately features a completely different set of operators — agencies with genuine offices in the JB city area, Skudai, and Iskandar Puteri, verified through their own websites cross-checked against independent business directories, Google/Waze map listings, and (where available) SSM-linked company records.
Mount Austin, Taman Molek & Taman Pelangi Agencies (JB City Core)
Agensi Pekerjaan Power One Sdn Bhd — Based at 97-02, Jalan Mutiara Emas 2A, Taman Mount Austin, 81100 Johor Bahru, Power One sources domestic helpers from Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, India and Sri Lanka, giving it one of the broader source-country spreads among the agencies on this list. The office runs standard Monday–Friday hours (8.30am–5.30pm) plus a Saturday morning slot, useful for employers who can only view candidate profiles or sign paperwork on weekends.
Kawasama (Johor Branch) — Kawasama's main operation was founded in the Klang Valley (Damansara Jaya, Selangor) back in 1982, but the group now runs a dedicated, separately staffed branch at 16, Jalan Molek 1/5B, Taman Molek, 81100 Johor Bahru, serving JB, Skudai and Pasir Gudang directly rather than routing Johor clients through a KL office. We're including it because the Molek office is a genuine, independently contactable branch with its own phone line and Facebook presence — worth knowing about even though the brand's roots are outside Johor.
Agensi Pekerjaan Princeton Sdn Bhd — Princeton has operated since the early 1990s and maintains more than one Johor Bahru address, including an office at 1A, Jalan Kuning 2, Taman Pelangi, 80400 Johor Bahru and a newer Southkey branch at Komersial Southkey Mozek. Like Kawasama, its registered head office is in Kuala Lumpur, but the Johor operation handles its own placements of Indonesian, Filipino and Cambodian helpers rather than acting as a pass-through booking desk.
AP Regis Maid Agency — Located at 11-02, Jalan Molek 3/20, Taman Molek, 81100 Johor Bahru, AP Regis focuses on Indonesian and Filipino helpers and positions itself around the post-placement admin employers dread: FOMEMA medical scheduling, insurance and SOCSO registration, and permit renewal paperwork. Office hours are 9am–6pm on weekdays, with weekends by appointment only — call ahead before making the trip to Molek.
Tazia Maid Agency (Austin JB Branch) — Tazia is a multi-branch operator with locations in Puchong, Kepong (KL) and Batu Pahat alongside its Johor Bahru–Austin office on Jalan Mutiara Emas 2A, in the same Mount Austin cluster as Power One. The group says it has grown to more than 30 staff across its branches; the Austin branch has its own local contact number for JB-based enquiries rather than routing everything to a KL call centre.
Skudai, Iskandar Puteri & Permas Jaya Agencies
Agensi Pekerjaan Pyramid Sdn Bhd (AP Pyramid) — Operating out of Taman Sutera Utama in Skudai (addresses listed at 26B–30B, Jalan Sutera Tanjung 8/3–8/4, 81300 Skudai, depending on the directory), AP Pyramid handles the licensing side of a placement in-house — JTK approval and Immigration Department (Imigresen) licence processing for DP10 work permits — alongside sourcing Indonesian and Filipino helpers. Office hours run 9am–6pm on weekdays. Its Skudai location makes it a practical option for employers based in Iskandar Puteri or near the second Johor–Singapore link, without a drive into JB city centre.
Agensi Pekerjaan Morningstar Sdn Bhd — Headquartered at 33A, Jalan Mutiara 1/9, Taman Mutiara Mas, 81300 Skudai, Morningstar is registered as a private employment agency under the Private Employment Agencies Act and describes itself as licensed by the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia and the Ministry of Human Resources. It handles both local and foreign domestic helper recruitment, training and placement, which is useful if you're weighing a Malaysian part-time helper against a live-in foreign helper and want one agency that can talk you through both options.
Agensi Pekerjaan Lonestar Sdn Bhd — Incorporated in August 2012 and based in a retail unit at Block B, 01-19, Permas Mall, 3, Jalan Permas Utara, Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, 81750 Johor Bahru, Lonestar sources helpers mainly from Indonesia, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. Its Permas Mall address is a genuine convenience for employers on the eastern side of JB (Permas Jaya, Bandar Baru Uda, Masai) who'd otherwise have to cross town to Mount Austin or Molek. The agency advertises a warranty period of up to six months on new placements and offers online video interviews of shortlisted candidates before you commit.
What We Left Out
A few names came up repeatedly in our search but didn't make the cut. AP Fomas Maid has an active, JB-focused website and blog with genuine local content, but we could not independently verify a specific street address for its Johor Bahru office from a second source, so we've left it out rather than publish an unconfirmed location — worth a direct enquiry call if you come across them. AP Together / FJ Manpower appeared in several searches but had too little independently verifiable detail (address, since-when, specialisation) for us to write an accurate paragraph. We also deliberately excluded any Johor Bahru branch of agencies already covered in our nationwide guide — including Top Quick and DG Maid Agency, both of which do serve Johor clients — since this list is specifically about agencies with an independent JB footprint, not duplicate branch listings of brands you've already read about.
A Note on Pricing
None of the agencies above publish a flat, all-in placement fee on their websites, and for good reason: total cost depends heavily on the helper's source country (Indonesian, Filipino, Sri Lankan and Myanmar placements are all priced differently due to different embassy, training and agency-fee structures), whether you're hiring a fresh placement versus a "transfer maid" already in Malaysia, and whether the helper is live-in or part-time. On top of the agency's service fee, expect separate line items for the levy paid to the Immigration Department, FOMEMA medical screening, insurance, and — for new foreign placements — airfare and any source-country training or embassy processing charges. Treat any online "starting from RMX,XXX" figure as a floor, not a quote, and ask each shortlisted agency for a full written cost breakdown by helper nationality before comparing prices across agencies.
