> Quick view: Casa del Rio Melaka's Weekend Afternoon Tea Set — the hotel calls it Timeless Tea Moments — is RM99 nett for 2 persons at The River Grill, served every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 4:00pm. That works out to RM49.50 a head, taxes and service charge included, for a riverside table in the middle of Melaka's UNESCO heritage zone. Advance reservation is required.

What you get for RM99

  • Price: RM99 nett for 2 persons — "nett" means SST and service charge are already inside the number, so RM99 is what lands on the bill
  • Inclusions: a selection of sweet, savoury and local delights, paired with your choice of tea or coffee
  • Venue: The River Grill, the hotel's riverside restaurant — the al fresco terrace sits directly on the Melaka River
  • Days and time: every Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 noon to 4:00pm, unless otherwise stated. This is a lunchtime-into-afternoon window, not a late-afternoon one — earlier write-ups circulating a 3pm–5pm slot are out of date
  • Booking: advance reservation is required — call +60 6 289 6888 or email the hotel

How to book it

  1. Pick a Saturday or Sunday and decide on a sitting inside the noon–4pm window
  2. Call +60 6 289 6888 (or use the Make a Reservation link on the hotel's own offer page) and ask for the Weekend Afternoon Tea Set at The River Grill, naming the RM99 nett for 2 rate
  3. Confirm the seating area when you book — the riverside terrace tables are the reason to come, and they are the first to go on a busy weekend
  4. Turn up on the day; walk-ins are not guaranteed a table because the set is reservation-required

Casa del Rio runs two other priced dining offers out of the same kitchen, which is the fairest way to judge whether RM99 is worth it:

The Casa Tiffin Set Lunch is the weekday equivalent: Nyonya and traditional local dishes served in custom tiffin carriers, with the menu rotating week to week, at RM118 nett for 2 (RM59 a head). The Saturday Stall By The River is the casual evening option at River Café — satay, Casa Cendol, made-to-order char kuey teow, Ayam Gepuk and the Casa Signature 5, from 5pm to 11pm every Saturday.

So on a per-head basis the tea set is the cheapest sit-down set at Casa del Rio: RM49.50 nett against RM59 nett for the tiffin lunch. Two couples doing the tea set on a Saturday come to RM198 nett all-in.

If you're staying the night: Stay 3, Pay 2 is back

The Stay 3, Pay 2 package — which an earlier version of this article recorded as withdrawn — is back on Casa del Rio's own offers page, and as of 1 September 2026 it is the cheapest rate the hotel sells. Book three nights, pay for two: accommodation in any room type, daily breakfast for 2 persons and Wi-Fi are included, and cancellation is free more than three days before the booking date.

One thing to watch, because the hotel contradicts itself on the same page. The offer's description says it is valid for stays from 1 September to 31 October 2026, while the Stay By field printed directly beneath it reads 1 September 2026 until 31 December 2026. Both lines are on the offer page. The Book By date is not in dispute: now until 31 December 2026. If you are planning a November or December stay, price it in the booking engine before you count on it.

What the room rates actually come to

Casa del Rio publishes percentages, not ringgit, so we priced a Deluxe Lago King for 2 adults, 3 nights, 19–22 October 2026 through the hotel's own booking engine on 1 September 2026. The Best Available Rate for that stay is RM2,850, and every offer prices off it:

  • Stay 3, Pay 2 — RM1,900 for the stay, plus 8% tax of RM152 = RM2,052. Breakfast for 2, Wi-Fi, free cancellation more than 3 days out
  • Early Bird, 30% off — RM1,995, plus RM159.60 tax = RM2,154.60. Breakfast and Wi-Fi, but non-refundable, and you have to book 30 days ahead
  • All-Day Deals, 20% off — RM2,280, plus RM182.40 = RM2,462.40. Breakfast, Wi-Fi, free cancellation, plus the Book Direct Exclusive perks
  • It's Your Birthday, HOORAY! — RM2,784, plus RM222.72 = RM3,006.72
  • Bed & Breakfast — RM2,850, plus RM228 = RM3,078 — that is the Best Available Rate itself, bought for its inclusions rather than for a discount
  • Family Holiday Promo — RM2,940, plus RM235.20 = RM3,175.20. Note that this prices above the Best Available Rate: it is a package of family inclusions, not a discount

So the headline "30% off" is not the best number on the page for a three-night stay. Stay 3, Pay 2 lands RM95 cheaper on the room rate and is cancellable, while Early Bird is non-refundable and demands full prepayment. Early Bird also simply does not appear in the booking engine inside its 30-day window — we priced a 21–24 September stay as well and only Stay 3 Pay 2, All-Day Deals, the birthday package, Bed & Breakfast and the family package were offered on it, at exactly the same ringgit figures as the October dates.

Heritage and Tourism Tax is collected separately on arrival and is not inside any of the figures above.

The other live room offers

All of these carry a Book By window of now until 31 December 2026, except where noted:

  • Early Bird Promotion — book at least 30 days ahead for 30% off Best Available Rates, including accommodation, daily breakfast and Wi-Fi. Full prepayment at booking; the booking is cancellable but non-refundable, with the amount paid transferable to a new booking subject to any price difference. Move your arrival date less than 3 days out and it is treated as a cancellation, with one night's payment charged
  • All-Day Deals — up to 20% off Best Available Rates with flexible cancellation: free to cancel more than 3 days before the booking date, 100% charge inside 3 days or on a no-show. Unlike the rest, this one publishes no Book By date at all
  • Bed & Breakfast — Best Available Rates with daily breakfast for 2, plus 10% off Satkara Spa à la carte services and 10% off the total bill (excluding alcohol) at The River Grill and River Café. Bookings on the River Suite, Cheng Ho Suite, Melaka Suite or Presidential Suite also get one complimentary afternoon tea set served in-room — the same set this article is about, thrown in free. Cancellable and modifiable up to 72 hours before check-in; amend the arrival date inside 3 days and the full stay is charged
  • Family Holiday Promo — Deluxe and Studio room categories only, with breakfast for 2 adults plus one child aged 11 or under, a welcome snack for kids, child-friendly bathroom amenities, a 45-minute children's activity session (pre-book at check-in), a take-home gift, Wi-Fi and complimentary parking for in-house guests. The Deluxe Lago/River View includes one extra bed for one child; the Studio Lago/River includes a sofa bed for two children. Reserve at least 3 days in advance; full payment is settled on arrival, or prepaid 3 days ahead for eves and public holidays. Heritage and Tourism Tax is collected on arrival
  • It's Your Birthday, HOORAY! — book and stay within your birthday month for daily breakfast for 2, birthday-themed room decoration and a complimentary birthday cake. ID required at check-in, full prepayment at booking, and it cannot be combined with other promotions or vouchers

Booking direct on the hotel's site also unlocks the Book Direct Exclusive benefits attached to the All-Day Deals and Bed & Breakfast rates: welcome sorbet and chilled towel on arrival, complimentary laundry of up to 5 pieces per room per night (normal wash, non-accumulative), complimentary Casa Cendol for 2 per room once per stay (4 for two-bedroom suites), and complimentary two-way airport transfer to and from Melaka International Airport. The booking engine also pops a sign-up form offering an exclusive 5% promo code on selected rates and packages in exchange for an email address — worth taking before you book if you are not in a hurry.

Satkara Spa separately runs Satkara Spa Escape, a Happy Hour on its Spa Sampler menu, Monday to Thursday 11am to 3pm, with treatments available until 31 December 2026 — by appointment only, with a 10% surcharge on appointments before 10am or after 7:30pm, and a full charge if you reschedule less than a day ahead.

Who it suits — and who should skip

Worth booking if you want a heritage-zone riverside table without a full restaurant bill; you're already walking Jonker Street or Dutch Square on a weekend and want a mid-afternoon sit-down; or you're two people and RM49.50 a head nett fits the day's budget.

Skip it if you're arriving on a weekday — the tea set simply isn't served Monday to Friday, and the Casa Tiffin Set Lunch at RM118 nett for 2 is the weekday alternative. Skip it too if you want a late-afternoon tea: this one finishes at 4pm, so it eats into lunch rather than replacing dinner. And if you can't call ahead, don't build a trip around it — the set is reservation-required.

Fine print

  • RM99 nett for 2 persons is the rate published on Casa del Rio Melaka's own offer page for the Weekend Afternoon Tea Set, re-verified 1 September 2026 — unchanged since our August check. Older third-party listings quoting RM128 for 2 do not match the hotel's current published rate
  • Available every Saturday and Sunday unless otherwise stated — the hotel reserves the right to vary the schedule, so confirm on the call
  • Advance reservation is required; the hotel's general terms and conditions apply
  • Neither the tea set nor the room offers is a dated flash sale — four of the five room offers carry a Book By: now until 31 December 2026 window (All-Day Deals publishes no Book By date at all), and the tea set is listed as a standing weekend offer with no published end date
  • The offers page still shows a Special F&B Highlights card — four handcrafted pizza specials at The River Grill and River Café, 11:00am to 10:30pm with last order at 10:00pm. Its printed promotion period was 1 June to 31 August 2026, so it closed the day before this update even though the card is still up. Ask before you plan a meal around it
