> Quick view: from 26 October to 9 November 2026, Haidilao Malaysia sells a Light & Energising Set for two at RM108. You pick 2 broths from 4, 3 meat or seafood dishes from 5 and 4 vegetable dishes from 6, and the kitchen adds 3 fixed items. It is only sold at weekday lunch (Monday to Friday, 11am-5pm) and late at night (Sunday to Thursday, from 10pm). Sauce bar, drinks and tax cost extra.
Haidilao is rarely the cheap option for a hotpot night, because the bill grows one plate at a time. A fixed set with a printed price is the easiest way to know what you will pay before you sit down. Haidilao Malaysia announced this one on its official Facebook page on 26 October, with a pickleball theme: it is pitched as the meal after a game with your sports buddy. The post says the set is available across Malaysia, while the poster adds that participating outlets follow each restaurant's notice.
How it works, step by step
- Pick your slot. The set is only on the menu at lunch from Monday to Friday, 11am to 5pm, or late at night from Sunday to Thursday, from 10pm. Plan around this first.
- Order it as a set for two. At the table, ask for the Light & Energising Set (轻盈能量套餐) on the iPad menu or with your server.
- Choose 2 broths out of 4. The poster photo shows a four-section pot, two clear and two red. Ask your server how your two picks are split across the pot.
- Choose 3 meat or seafood plates out of 5, and 4 vegetable plates out of 6. The poster shows tiger prawns, fish slices, thin-sliced meat, corn, potato slices, black fungus, Chinese cabbage, enoki, romaine lettuce and an egg. The final list is on the outlet's menu.
- Receive 3 fixed items on top. Haidilao has not named them in its post.
- Pay the add-ons separately. The poster's small print says the set excludes the sauce bar, drinks, tax and other charges.
What you actually pay
RM108 for two works out to RM54 per person before the extras. That gets the two of you 2 broths and 12 dishes in all (3 meat or seafood, 4 vegetable and 3 fixed), which is a reasonable amount for a lunch or a supper.
- Two colleagues on a Wednesday lunch at 1pm. This fits the lunch slot. RM108 plus each person's sauce bar and a drink, plus tax.
- Four friends after a Sunday night pickleball session, seated at 10.30pm. This fits the night slot. Order two sets for RM216, which is still RM54 a head before extras, and you get four broth choices between two pots.
- Three people. One set is sized for two. Either add à la carte plates to one set or order two sets and share. Two sets at RM216 come to RM72 each.
- A Friday 8pm dinner or any time on Saturday. No set. Neither slot covers these, so you pay normal à la carte prices.
Who it is good for, and who can skip it
Good for: office workers near a Haidilao who can take a long lunch, students and shift workers who eat late, and night owls who want hotpot after a late movie or a game on a weeknight. It also suits couples who usually over-order, because the set caps the number of plates.
Skip it if you only go to Haidilao for Friday or Saturday dinner, since the set is not sold then. Skip it too if you want to choose freely from the full menu, since the set limits you to the listed broths and plates, or if you need a halal meal: Haidilao's menu includes pork.
Fine print that trips people up
- The night slot is Sunday to Thursday only. Friday and Saturday nights are excluded even after 10pm. The slot opens at 10pm, so if you arrive at 9.30pm you order at normal prices or wait.
- The lunch slot ends at 5pm sharp. A 4.45pm walk-in on a busy day may not be seated in time.
- Public holidays are not addressed. Deepavali falls on Sunday 8 November, and Monday 9 November, the last day of the promotion, is a replacement holiday in most states. Haidilao's poster does not say whether the Monday lunch slot still applies on a holiday, so call your outlet.
- Outlet participation is decided in store. The post says the set is available nationwide, but the poster says outlets follow each restaurant's notice.
- Extras add up. Sauce bar, drinks and tax are all outside the RM108. Budget for them before you compare against other places.
The pickleball challenge
Alongside the set, Haidilao is running a free 60-second ball-bouncing challenge (60秒颠球王挑战) in its restaurants: try to keep a pickleball bouncing on a paddle and win a small gift. It is free to join while you wait for a table. The poster says the gifts and challenge rules are set by each outlet.
