Is the Leonian sale in Kota Kinabalu still on?

No. The August edition at the Sabah GCC pro shop ran from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 August 2026, 9am-6pm, and nothing has replaced it in Sabah.

We re-read Leonian Malaysia's Instagram on 20 September 2026. Its newest post is dated 16 September, and no post since the start of September names Sabah. The shop itself is unaffected: Leonian Sabah GCC is a permanent pro shop at the club in Bukit Padang, open daily at regular prices. It simply is not running a sale.

What changed on 16 September

The earlier version of this article pointed Sabah readers at one live offer: an additional 16% off sitewide at leonian.com.my, 8 to 16 September 2026. That window has closed, and as of 20 September Leonian Malaysia has announced no replacement sitewide offer.

The two in-store "up to 60% off" sales listed here, at Kota Permai GCC in Shah Alam and Horizon Hills GCC in Iskandar Puteri, both ended on 13 September. The Callaway demo days were Klang Valley only; the 11 September date at Kota Permai Driving Range ran 4pm to 8pm as posted, and we could not re-confirm the later KGPA date on any Leonian channel this week.

One new sale did open in that gap, and it is not in Sabah. On 16 September Leonian posted a Merdeka Sale at Royal Perak Golf & Country Club, Ipoh: up to 60% off, 18 to 20 September 2026, 10am to 6:30pm. We read those dates off Leonian's own poster, since no aggregator had listed this leg at the time of writing. It ends today, and Ipoh is a flight plus a drive from Kota Kinabalu, so for a Sabah reader it is evidence rather than an option.

Leonian's 2026 sale circuit: 11 sales, 2 in East Malaysia

The question worth answering is not "is there a sale this week" but "how often does one reach Sabah". Here is every dated Leonian Malaysia in-store sale we can verify from June to September 2026, taken from Leonian's own posts and dated aggregator listings:

  • 5-7 June: KGPA, Kuala Lumpur
  • 3-5 July: Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah GCC, Selangor
  • 10-12 July: Saujana GCC, Selangor
  • 17-19 July: Kelab Golf Sarawak, Kuching, up to 70% off (East Malaysia)
  • 24-26 July: Kelab Rahman Putra, Selangor, up to 70% off
  • 7-9 August: Sabah GCC, Kota Kinabalu (East Malaysia)
  • 14-23 August: Merdeka Golf Clearance, Seksyen 13, Shah Alam
  • 4-6 September: Saujana GCC, Selangor
  • 9-13 September: Kota Permai GCC, Shah Alam, up to 60% off
  • 11-13 September: Horizon Hills GCC, Iskandar Puteri, Johor, up to 60% off

Eleven sales in four months: nine in the Peninsula and two in East Malaysia, three weeks apart in July and August. On that rate East Malaysia gets roughly one Leonian leg a quarter while Peninsular clubs get one most weekends, and Sabah specifically has had exactly one in 2026, the August edition. Note also that both East Malaysian legs were advertised at a deeper rate than the September Peninsular ones: up to 70% off in Kuching, against up to 60% at Kota Permai, Horizon Hills and Royal Perak.

That is the honest answer to "when is the next one": on the 2026 pattern, not soon, and not on any schedule Leonian publishes.

What works from Kota Kinabalu right now

There is no Leonian discount running in Sabah, and no sitewide online offer either. What is left is the shop at ordinary prices, which is still worth knowing if you need gear this month:

  • Buy at the KK shop if you need to try heads, shafts or lie angles, or you need something before your next round. Fitting matters more than a percentage, and the alternative is shipping to Sabah.
  • Wait for the next sitewide offer if you know exactly what you want and it is a commodity: balls, gloves, a shoe in a size you have worn before. Leonian ran a mid-year sitewide offer in June and the 16% Malaysia Day one in September, so these do recur, roughly around the retail calendar's big moments.
  • Do not wait for a Sabah sale on a fixed date. Nothing is announced, and on the 2026 record there may not be another this year.

One practical note for the shop visit: Leonian stopped giving out free plastic bags at all its stores on 1 January 2026, so bring your own bag.

The Leonian pro shop at Sabah Golf & Country Club

  • Background: it opened on 21 September 2024 as Leonian's first branded pro shop, a 1,200 sq ft refit of the club's former Transview Golf store, fully owned by Leonian Malaysia, according to ParGolf's report on the opening.

Its second anniversary is Monday 21 September 2026, the day after this update. The shop opened with a four-day sale on 19-22 September 2024, so that date was the one to watch. As of 20 September nothing has been posted about it, and Leonian's own habit is to publish a poster one to two days before the doors open. A poster could still appear, but at this point an anniversary sale is not something to plan a trip around.

How to catch the next Sabah sale

Leonian gives very little notice, so the only reliable method is to watch the channel rather than the calendar:

  • Follow @leonian_malaysia on Instagram, where every sale poster is published. This is the primary channel; leonian.com.my sits behind a bot check and its news page is not a reliable mirror of the posters.
  • Expect one to two days' notice. In September 2026 the Kota Permai poster went up on 7 September for a 9 September start, Horizon Hills on 10 September for the 11th, and Royal Perak on 16 September for the 18th.
  • The poster carries the dates, not the caption. Leonian's captions routinely name the club and the discount but leave the dates to the image, so open the picture before you plan anything around it.
  • If you are in Kuching rather than Kota Kinabalu, watch for the Kelab Golf Sarawak leg, which ran 17-19 July in 2026 at up to 70% off.

What happened to the August sale

For the record: the Sabah GCC edition ran 7-9 August 2026, 9am-6pm, in store only, with offers on golf clubs, apparel and accessories. EverydayOnSales' dated listing called them "exclusive deals" but gave no headline percentage, unlike the Kuching leg three weeks earlier, which was advertised at up to 70% off. It ended on 9 August.
