Perak has some of the oldest golf in Malaysia and some of the cheapest, and they are not always the same club. We read the rate card of every Perak course that publishes one, on the club's own website, rate-card PDF or official Facebook page, on 11 September 2026. Six clubs made this list: two in Ipoh, two in Batu Gajah, one on the coast at Lumut and one in Teluk Intan.

How to compare golf clubs before you book

The headline number on a golf rate card is rarely the bill. Before comparing, check four things.

  • What the green fee includes. Kinta, Teluk Intan and Damai Laut quote a price that already includes a shared buggy, insurance and tax. Meru Valley's green fee is the green fee alone, with the buggy on a separate line.
  • Whether a caddy is compulsory. Damai Laut makes a caddy compulsory on every package and does not publish the caddy fee. Meru Valley makes a caddy compulsory on its promotional rounds and charges guests RM110 for 18 holes.
  • Which days a deal covers. Almost every weekday deal on this list excludes public holidays.
  • Whether the page is current. One of the six still quotes a tax Malaysia abolished in 2018, and one has taken its rate card down altogether.

The same weekday round, priced side by side

Here is 18 holes on an ordinary weekday morning, with a buggy, at each club's own published rate:

  • Teluk Intan: up to RM71.40, buggy, insurance and tax included.
  • Kinta Golf Club: RM102.00, buggy share, insurance and 8% SST included.
  • Damai Laut: RM159 nett per golfer if four of you register together under its Buy 3 Free 1 package, plus a compulsory caddy.
  • Clearwater Sanctuary: RM180 plus tax for a walk-in, on a page that has not been updated since GST.
  • Meru Valley: RM361.80 green fee plus RM96.80 buggy, so RM458.60 before a caddy.

That is a spread of more than six times for the same 18 holes on a Tuesday morning, inside one state. At weekends the gap is wider: Teluk Intan tops out at RM81.40 and Kinta at RM122, while Meru's visitor green fee and buggy come to RM642.20.

Re-checked on 22 September: what is left of September

We re-read every club's page on 22 September 2026. No published rate on this list has changed: Meru Valley's golf page, Damai Laut's package list, Teluk Intan's price range and Clearwater's GST-era page all say exactly what they said on 11 September, and Royal Perak still publishes no green fee.

What has changed is the calendar. Meru's RM200 deal ends on Wednesday 30 September, so from Tuesday 22 September there are seven weekdays left to use it: 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29 and 30 September. Its golf-promotions page shows nothing newer than this deal, posted 9 September, so there is no announced replacement for October. Book it on WhatsApp or by phone on 012-373 3431 between noon and 7pm, or by email to golf@meruvalley.com.my; the resort's general golf line, 05-529 3300, is on its main golf page.

Meru's Course Care notice for September is also still up: it lists tee-box levelling and drainage and buggy-track repairs as ongoing, after August's greens spraying, dethatching and tree pruning on holes 3, 4, 7, 8 and 13 to 15. No discount is attached to it, so expect a few temporary tees at full price.

The Malaysia Day deal that skipped Malaysia Day

Meru Valley posted its Swing Into Malaysia Day offer on 9 September: RM200 per golfer for an 18-hole green fee, a twin-share buggy and daily insurance, valid 1 to 30 September 2026, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, tee off before 2pm, no rain checks, and a caddy compulsory for all guests.

Two things followed from its own terms. First, 16 September was a Wednesday and a public holiday, so the one day the deal is named after was the one weekday it did not cover. Second, with the compulsory guest caddy at RM110, a realistic bill is RM310. That is still RM148.60 less than walk-in green fee and buggy, so the deal is worth using on any remaining weekday up to 30 September.

It is not Meru's best recent price, though. August's Merdeka Deal carried identical terms at RM690 per flight. For a full four-ball that was RM172.50 each, so September's per-person rate is RM27.50 higher.

Damai Laut's Monday deals carry the same public-holiday exclusion. The next one that bites is Deepavali: it falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, so Monday 9 November is Perak's replacement holiday and no Monday deal runs that day.

Two pages to treat with care

Clearwater Sanctuary's rate page still ends with "Subject to GST". Malaysia zero-rated GST in June 2018 and replaced it with SST that September, and the page's copyright line reads 2011. The club is trading: its official Facebook page shows it open and was advertising special weekend and public-holiday green fees in October 2025. But treat its RM180+ and RM260+ walk-in figures as a floor from an old page, and phone before you drive.

Royal Perak Golf Club has no published rate at all. Its rebuilt website covers the course, the Jubilee Ballroom, the RPGC Garden Hotel and membership, but no green fees. The "Golf Rate 2025" address that search engines still list now returns the new site's "Page not found". Booking sites still quote a figure for it; we could not match any of them to the club itself, so we have not repeated one.

The other Perak courses, and why they are not in the table

Six clubs publish something you can read. Perak has more courses than that. The Deemples course directory for Perak, checked on 12 September 2026, also lists Kelab Golf Kuala Kangsar in Kuala Kangsar, Taiping Golf Resort on Jalan Bukit Jana in Kamunting, Kelab Golf Briged Utara at Ulu Kinta and Rural Country Golf Club at Pengkalan Hulu, along with the Tambun X Park driving range in Ipoh.

None of them publishes a rate card of its own that we could read, and one is worse than silent. taipingresort.com, the address golf directories still print against Taiping Golf Resort, no longer belongs to the resort: on 12 September 2026 it served an unrelated affiliate blog about Australian wedding celebrants and Tokyo hotels. That is the second Perak golf domain on this page in that state, after Kinta's kintagolfclub.com, which redirects to an online-gambling page. Do not trust a golf club's "official site" in a directory listing without opening it first.

For these four, book through a tee-time app such as Deemples or phone the club, and treat whatever price an app shows as that app's price for that slot rather than a rate the club has published.

How to pick

  • Cheapest 18 holes: Teluk Intan, then Kinta, whose card is the only one here that shows every component of the price.
  • A junior golfer: Kinta's under-18 rate of RM57.25 applies weekdays and weekends; Damai Laut's Seniors and Juniors Monday afternoon is RM116 for golfers 65 and over or under 18.
  • A Monday off: Damai Laut's RM116 afternoon rounds, three versions of the same price.
  • The best course you can get a deal on: Meru Valley on a weekday before 2pm, until 30 September. After that, walk-in rates apply unless Meru posts a new deal.
  • Heritage: Royal Perak, by phone.

Whichever you choose, call the club first. Every one of these rate cards says prices can change, Damai Laut requires a valid handicap, and Meru Valley fines no-shows up to 50 per cent of the green fee if you cancel after 3pm the day before.
