> Quick view: Merdeka Run 2026 – Ipoh ran on 16 August 2026 and is over. Its Howei page shows a disabled CLOSED button and AEON Mall has 404'd its own event page for it. As of 28 August, no Ipoh results or e-certificates have been published — while the Taiping leg, run a week later, already has. The same organiser's next two Perak runs are open: Seri Manjung, 6 September (closes 2 Sep) and Batik Run – Ipoh Station 18, 18 October (closes 17 Oct).

The Ipoh leg is finished — three ways to confirm it

Checked on 28 August 2026:

  • The official Howei listing for Merdeka Run 2026 – Ipoh shows a greyed-out, disabled CLOSED button where the register link sits on live events, against a published closing date of 12 August 2026.
  • AEON Mall's own event page for the run, at aeonmallmy.com/page/event/merdeka-run-2026, now returns a 404. Sibling events on the same site — the Batik Run, the Merdeka Parade, the kids' costume contests — are all still live at their own URLs, so this is a specific delisting, not a site-wide outage.
  • The race-kit collection window (Friday 15 August, 1.30pm–6pm, AEON Mall Kinta City 1st Floor in front of F.O.S) has long passed.

Waiting on your result or e-certificate? It isn't up yet

Howei's Results & E-Certs index (howei.com/result) listed 12 events on 28 August 2026. Two of them are Merdeka Run legs — Taiping and Bukit Mertajam — and the organiser's own Sloth Slow Run – Ipoh is there too.

Merdeka Run 2026 – Ipoh is not on that list. That matters because Taiping ran on 23 August, a full week *after* Ipoh, and its results are already published. So this is not simply a case of the organiser being slow across the board — the Ipoh leg specifically hasn't been uploaded yet, twelve days on. Keep checking howei.com/result; there is no published deadline for when e-certs go up.

Merdeka Run 2026 was a six-stop circuit, not one race

Ipoh was the middle leg. The organiser, Oriental Global Event Management, ran the same 5km format around the northern states:

  • Bukit Mertajam — Sunday 2 August, AEON Mall Bukit Mertajam
  • Sungai Petani — Saturday 8 August, N City Sungai Petani
  • Ipoh — Sunday 16 August, AEON Mall Kinta City
  • Taiping — Sunday 23 August, AEON Mall Taiping
  • Alor Setar — Saturday 29 August, Alor Star Mall
  • Seri Manjung — Sunday 6 September, Lotus's Seri Manjung

When we checked on 28 August, both Alor Setar and Seri Manjung still had live REGISTER buttons — Alor Setar the day before its own race. If a friend told you the Merdeka Run was "sold out", that was the Ipoh leg only.

Still open, option 1: Merdeka Run – Seri Manjung, Sunday 6 September

This is the last leg of the series and the only remaining Merdeka Run in Perak — Seri Manjung is roughly 80km from Ipoh, an easy morning drive down the coast.

  • Date: Sunday 6 September 2026, at Lotus's Seri Manjung
  • Fee: RM34.90 Super Early Bird, capped at 100 slots, then RM39.90 Early Bird
  • Registration cut-off: 2 September 2026, 10.00pm. Howei's page only says registration "will close when all of the slots are filled" — the hard deadline is on the JomRun listing
  • Race kit collection: Saturday 5 September, 1.30pm–5.30pm, at Lotus's Seri Manjung, 1st Floor in front of KFC
  • Lucky draw prizes are named on this one: the official poster shows gold charms (marked "picture just for illustration") and an HONOR X5i smartwatch

Still open, option 2: Batik Run – Ipoh Station 18, Sunday 18 October

If you would rather not drive, the same organiser's next Ipoh event is the Batik Run 2026 – Ipoh Station 18, themed "Heritage in Motion", at AEON Mall Station 18 on Sunday 18 October 2026, 7am programme start with a 7.30am flag-off.

  • Fee: RM34.90 Super Early Bird (100 slots), then RM39.90 — and AEON Mall's own event page adds +RM5.00 for 3XL and 4XL and +RM9.00 for 5XL to 7XL
  • Registration ends 17 October 2026, 11.59pm — the night before the race
  • Race pack collection is not yet announced. JomRun lists date, time and venue as "To Be Confirmed", so don't book travel around a collection slot yet
  • Sizing runs XS to 7XL, plus a junior range (JS, JM, JL, JXL) — this is a family event, not an adults-only race
  • Lucky draw prizes have not been named. The artwork says only "Exciting Prizes Await You" and "Stay Tuned" — unlike the Merdeka Run poster, which names the actual items

Batik Run continues after Ipoh with Taiping on 1 November and Bukit Mertajam on 15 November, and it started with Sungai Petani on 3 October and Alor Setar on 10 October.

What RM34.90–RM39.90 actually buys

AEON Mall's own Batik Run page lists the entitlements in full — the same package the Merdeka Run legs carried:

  • Sublimation Super Dry Fit T-shirt
  • Finisher medal
  • PA insurance
  • Drinking water
  • Zumba fitness session
  • E-certificate
  • Lucky draw entry

Worth knowing: JomRun's summary for the Batik Run lists only "Event Tee" and "Finisher Medal". That is the platform's short blurb, not the full entitlement list — AEON Mall's page, published by the venue partner, is the fuller one.

Race morning, minute by minute

Both series publish an identical itinerary, so plan your morning around this rather than the flag-off time alone:

  • 6.45am — programme starts
  • 7.00am — warm-up session
  • 7.30am — flag-off for all runners
  • 8.00am — first runner back
  • 8.15am — Zumba session
  • 9.00am — lucky draw
  • 9.30am — end of programme

The lucky draw is at 9.00am, half an hour before the programme ends. If you leave straight after crossing the line, you forfeit the draw entry you paid for.

At Kinta City this weekend instead

If you are only heading to AEON Mall Kinta City and want something on, the mall's own listing has one live event: the Merdeka Kids Costume Contest on Saturday 29 August 2026, on the Ground Floor in front of Tealive, run with Maxis Centre. Registration is 2.30pm–3.00pm, the contest runs 3.00pm–4.00pm, group photo at 4.00pm, a Merdeka Parade at 4.10pm and prize giving at 4.30pm. It is open to children aged 5 to 12.

AEON Mall Kinta City is at No 2, Jalan Teh Lean Swee, Off Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah Utara, 31400 Ipoh, open 9am–10pm Sunday to Thursday and 9am–10.30pm Friday, Saturday and the eve of a public holiday.

Fine print

  • Two platforms, two different pages. Both remaining runs are listed on Howei and on JomRun. The hard registration cut-off times quoted above come from JomRun; Howei's pages leave the closing date blank — the Batik Run listing literally still reads "the closing date is on the [Closing Date]".
  • Super Early Bird is capped at 100 slots, not by date. Once it is gone the price is RM39.90 regardless of how early you sign up.
  • Registration is through third parties. Refund, transfer and sizing queries go to Oriental Global Event Management or the platform, not to AEON Mall or Lotus's.
  • The plus-size surcharge is published on AEON Mall's Batik Run page, not in the fee table on the Howei listing, which shows only the two base tiers. Budget for it if you wear 3XL or above.

How to pick

Take Seri Manjung (6 Sep) if you want the Merdeka Run medal specifically, you don't mind an 80km drive, and you want a known lucky-draw prize pool and a confirmed kit-collection slot the day before.

Take Batik Run – Ipoh Station 18 (18 Oct) if you live in Ipoh and would rather not travel, you want more time to train, or you are bringing children — the junior sizing makes it the family-friendlier of the two. The trade-off is that both the prize pool and the race-pack collection are still unannounced.

Skip both if you were only chasing the Merdeka theme for August — that window has closed, and the next Merdeka Run will be a 2027 edition.
