> Quick view: MR.DIY's Jom Beli Barangan Malaysia campaign runs 1 to 30 September 2026 at stores nationwide, which leaves ten days. It is a real promotion with real prices, but it is not one discount. Seven items are worth making room for. Roughly half the flyer saves you under RM1. And Sabah and Sarawak shoppers are reading a different, more expensive price list than the one circulating on Peninsular social media.

What the campaign actually is

MR.DIY's own promotions page lists MR.DIY Jom Beli Barangan Malaysia 2026 as running 1 to 30 September 2026, under the line "Jom sokong produk tempatan bersama MR.DIY". It is a local-goods push: Malaysian brands and everyday household lines at a promotional price for the month, with the campaign page adding the standard "Sementara stok masih ada" while-stocks-last note.

Two things about it are not obvious from the poster doing the rounds on WhatsApp.

The first is that MR.DIY publishes two separate flyers, one headed Semenanjung Malaysia and one headed Sabah & Sarawak. They are not the same document. Different promotional prices, different normal-price baselines, and a different number of items.

The second is that this is not a single discount. The Peninsular flyer is 37 individual line items spread across five pages, and the markdowns on them run from 50 per cent down to 4 per cent. Treating it as "up to 50% off at MR.DIY" and walking in without a list is how you end up paying full attention to a 20-sen saving.

The seven that are genuinely worth it

These are the Peninsular flyer's deepest cuts, with MR.DIY's own struck-out normal price for comparison.

  • FARM FRESH Moola Choco Malt, 4's x 115ml: buy 1 free 1, against a normal price of RM5.20 each. This is the only true 1-for-1 in the whole campaign, and at RM5.20 for two packs it is worth RM5.20.
  • FELTON Rattan Stool, 380 x 380 x 470mm: RM7.90 from RM11.50. A 31 per cent cut and the biggest ringgit saving on a single household item, RM3.60.
  • INDOMIE Pop Spageti Spicy Carbonara, 80g: buy 3 at RM2.60, against RM1.20 each. Three packs would normally be RM3.60, so you save RM1.00, or 28 per cent.
  • MR.DIY 4 Gallon Pail, 310 x 310 x 300mm: RM5.90 from RM7.90. Twenty-five per cent, RM2.00 off.
  • SHIELDTOX Multi-Insect Kill, 2's x 525ml: RM17.90 from RM22.90. This is the single largest ringgit saving in the flyer at RM5.00.
  • MISTER POTATO Chips, 55g and 60g: buy 2 at RM6, against RM3.80 each. RM1.60 off two packets, 21 per cent.
  • JULIE'S Biscuit Sandwich Assorted, 110g to 132g: buy 3 at RM10, against RM4.10 each. RM2.30 off three packs, 19 per cent.

Just below that tier sit NIMS Crispy Choco Tub at RM7.90 from RM9.50, the FELTON Laundry Basket at RM18.90 from RM22.90, WAXCO Scratch Remover at RM13.90 from RM16.50, and I-RECIPE Dry Cat Food 800g at buy 2 for RM10 against RM5.90 each. All four are worth between RM1.60 and RM4.00.

The ones that are worth 20 to 60 sen

Now the other end of the same flyer.

  • DAY'S Dishwashing Paste Assorted, 800g: RM4.30 from RM4.50. That is 20 sen, and MR.DIY prints it on the poster as 4 per cent.
  • SOFTLAN Fabric Softener Refill, 2's x 1.6L: RM10.90 from RM11.50. Sixty sen, 5 per cent.
  • Super Ring Family Pack, 8's x 14g: buy 2 at RM8, against RM4.25 each. Fifty sen across two packs.
  • ROTA Potato Chip Family Pack and Roller Coaster Potato Ring Snack: both buy 2 at RM9, against RM4.80 each. Sixty sen across two packs.
  • BIG COUNTRY Musang King Durian Cookies Tub, 300g: RM12.90 from RM13.90. One ringgit, 7 per cent.
  • AJAX Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaner, 2L: RM13.90 from RM14.90. One ringgit, 7 per cent.
  • ROYAL DE DOLTON Chocolate Layer 60g and T&G 72% Dark Chocolate with Cream 70g: both 50 sen off, at RM5.50 and RM5.70 respectively.

Two items on the flyer carry no struck-out normal price and no percentage badge at all: the Storage Box (9765237) at RM39.90 and the CRISPY Fun Pack 25+3's at RM11.90. MR.DIY has published no saving against either, so treat those two as a price rather than a deal.

Two baskets, same shop, same day

The gap between the two ends of this flyer is easiest to see with money.

A basket of the five deepest Peninsular cuts: Farm Fresh Moola buy 1 free 1 at RM5.20, the FELTON stool at RM7.90, Shieldtox at RM17.90, the 4 gallon pail at RM5.90 and Julie's three-for-RM10. You pay RM46.90. At MR.DIY's own normal prices that basket is RM65.00. You save RM18.10, or 27.8 per cent.

A basket of five shallow ones: two tubs of DAY'S dishwashing paste at RM8.60, two Softlan refill packs at RM21.80, Super Ring two-for-RM8, ROTA two-for-RM9 and two bottles of Ajax Fabuloso at RM27.80. You pay RM75.20 against a normal RM79.90. You save RM4.70, or 5.9 per cent.

Same campaign, same store, same week. One basket pays for itself, the other rounds to a rounding error.

Sabah and Sarawak are reading a different flyer

This is the part worth knowing before anyone forwards a Peninsular poster to a cousin in Kota Kinabalu or Kuching.

Every item that appears on both flyers costs more in East Malaysia, and on the two headline household lines the discount is shallower too. The pail is 25 per cent off in the Peninsular and 17 per cent off in Sabah and Sarawak. The stool is 31 per cent against 28 per cent.

The normal-price baselines differ as well, before the promotion is applied at all. Those same five household items carry a normal price of RM67.10 in the Peninsular and RM71.00 in Sabah and Sarawak, a gap of RM3.90 that has nothing to do with this campaign.

Four Peninsular lines are missing from the Sabah and Sarawak flyer entirely: FARM FRESH Moola Choco Malt, INDOMIE Pop Spageti Spicy Carbonara, ROYAL DE DOLTON Chocolate Layer and T&G 72% Dark Chocolate with Cream. Two of those are in the Peninsular flyer's top four discounts, including the campaign's only genuine buy 1 free 1. East Malaysia gets 33 items to the Peninsular's 37.

Where East Malaysia does get a comparable deal, it is usually on the same items: Julie's is buy 3 for RM11 there against RM4.50 each, still 19 per cent, and Shieldtox is RM19.90 from RM24.90, still 20 per cent.

The fine print at the bottom of every page

MR.DIY prints the same footer on all ten flyer pages, and three lines in it matter.

"While stocks last" is the first, repeated on the campaign page itself. In a 30-day promotion at 1,500-plus stores, an item that was on the shelf on 1 September may simply be gone by the 25th, and stock varies store to store.

"MR.DIY deserves the right to replace a product with another similar valuable product depending on stocks availability" is the second. If the exact SKU has run out, what you are offered at the promotional price may not be the item in the picture.

"Only valid for same item and its assortment as indicated" is the third, and it is the one that catches people at the till. A "buy 2 at RM9" on ROTA Potato Chip Family Pack Assorted means two from that assortment, not two of any chip on the aisle. The same applies to Julie's three-for-RM10, Mister Potato two-for-RM6 and every other multi-buy on the flyer.

One more practical point on those multi-buys: the promotional price only exists at the stated quantity. Buy a single ROTA family pack and you pay RM4.80, the normal price. If you were not going to use two, a 60-sen multi-buy saving is not a saving.

Can you just order it online instead?

Not these prices, no, and the reason is structural. The flyer lives on mrdiy.com, the corporate site, which publishes the two PDFs and nothing else. The shop is a different company at a different address: mrdiy.com.my, trading as MR. D.I.Y. ECOMMERCE (M) SDN BHD.

Checked on 20 September, the campaign's own lines are not on that online store. A search for the FELTON rattan stool returns trays, storage boxes, flower pots and laundry baskets, but no stool. A search for Shieldtox returns Kleenso, Ridsect and Waxco. The product code MR.DIY prints on the flyer for the 4 gallon pail, 9767294, returns zero results. Jom Beli Barangan Malaysia is an in-store campaign, and the campaign page carries no buy button.

That matters most for the East Malaysian half of this story, because ordering from the Peninsular is not the workaround it looks like. Even setting the missing stock aside, the online store's shipping policy gives free delivery in Peninsular Malaysia on orders above RM0.01 up to 20kg, through Ninjavan, J&T or CityLink, at five to seven working days. Sabah and Sarawak are served, at seven to ten working days plus another two to three for remote areas, but the policy does not say whether the free-delivery line extends to them, or what the charge is if it does not. On a RM5.90 pail, a shipping fee you cannot see before checkout is the whole discount.

MR.DIY Club, and whether it changes the maths

MR.DIY launched its first loyalty programme, MR.DIY Club, in July 2026, so this is the first Jom Beli Barangan Malaysia with points attached. What MR.DIY publishes on the programme page is straightforward: RM1 spent is 1 point on eligible purchases, points are redeemed for cash vouchers on the app's rewards page, and separately you collect 1 bag for every RM20 spent, which unlocks member perks, events and workshops rather than money off. New members get 400 points on sign-up, the first purchase in your birthday month earns 5x points, and a family account pools points across up to five people including yourself. The membership works at participating physical stores and on supported online platforms.

What MR.DIY does not publish is the part you would need to do the sums. There is no stated points-to-ringgit conversion, no stated minimum to redeem and no stated expiry, and the programme page does not say whether a promotional line counts as an eligible purchase at all. So the deep basket above, at RM46.90, earns you roughly 47 points and 2 bags, and nobody outside the app can tell you what 47 points is worth.

Treat it as a rebate you cannot price yet rather than a reason to buy. The 27.8 per cent off the deep basket is real and printed on the flyer. The points are not yet either.

Who should go, and who should skip it

Go if you were already due a household restock in the next ten days. The stool, the pail, the laundry basket, Shieldtox, Waxco and the Royal Gold tissue and kitchen towel are the part of this flyer that behaves like an actual sale, and between them they are worth around RM20 on a single trip.

Go if you drink Farm Fresh Moola and you are in the Peninsular. Buy 1 free 1 on a four-pack is the best thing in the campaign and it does not repeat in October.

Skip the special trip if what caught your eye was the snack page. Across those lines the typical markdown is 6 to 12 per cent, which on a RM4 packet is 30 to 50 sen, and petrol to an out-of-the-way store will eat it.

Skip anything you would have to buy two of to qualify. And if you are in Sabah or Sarawak, check the East Malaysian flyer on MR.DIY's own campaign page rather than the prices a friend in KL screenshotted, because they are not the same numbers.

The campaign page is at mrdiy.com, where both flyers are published side by side.
