What Original Classic is offering

Original Classic is a Malaysian multi-brand sports retailer (it trades as OC Sports and is run by 3E Worldwide Sdn Bhd). For this fair it has filled the Avenue K atrium with shoe tables and clothing racks. The mechanics, from Original Classic's official Facebook post and its campaign posters:

  • Up to 80% off marked-down items. The signs in OC's own photos of the sale floor show 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60% and 80% tiers, so the 80% tables are the exception, not the rule.
  • Extra 20% off on top of the markdown.
  • Instant RM50 rebate with a purchase of RM299.
  • Free Metrix ankle socks with a purchase of RM149 and above, while stocks last.
  • Excluded: Hot Buy, Star Buy and Bundle Sale items, and the Metrix brand (OC's own label).

Besides the nine poster brands, OC's photos also show hummel T-shirts, Vans and Converse sneakers, Lee Cooper sandals and Puma football boots and slides.

How it works, step by step

  1. Head to the Level G atrium of Avenue K. The mall is on Jalan Ampang, opposite Suria KLCC, and is linked to the KLCC LRT station (Kelana Jaya Line). Going by train saves you city-centre parking.
  2. Read the table sign first. Each table carries its own "Diskaun sehingga" (discount up to) card. That markdown is the base.
  3. Check the price tag for Hot Buy, Star Buy or Bundle Sale labels. Those items do not get the extra 20% or count towards the RM50 rebate.
  4. Pay in one receipt. The RM50 rebate needs a single purchase of RM299, so put everything through together rather than splitting between family members.
  5. Ask for your socks at the counter if your bill is RM149 or more.

Worked examples

OC does not publish item prices for the fair, so these use round tag prices purely to show how the layers add up.

  • One pair of running shoes tagged RM200 after markdown: extra 20% off brings it to RM160. That clears the RM149 sock threshold, but not the RM299 rebate.
  • Two pairs tagged RM200 each (RM400): extra 20% off gives RM320, then the RM50 rebate gives RM270. You pay about RM135 a pair, roughly a third below the tags.
  • Basket tagged RM350: extra 20% off gives RM280, which is under RM299. Add a RM25 item (RM20 after the extra 20%) and you reach RM300, the RM50 rebate applies, and you pay RM250. The extra item costs you nothing; it saves you RM30.
  • How deep the stacking goes: a 50% table plus the extra 20% works out to 60% off the original price. An 80% table plus the extra 20% works out to 84% off.

One thing OC's posters do not spell out is whether the RM299 is counted before or after the extra 20%. If it is counted after, you need about RM374 in tag prices to qualify. Ask the cashier before you queue, so you are not RM5 short at the till.

Who it suits, and who should skip

It suits families buying school shoes and PE kit in bulk, since the RM50 rebate rewards one big receipt. It also suits badminton players looking at Yonex, runners comparing ASICS, New Balance and Nike trainers, and anyone who wants a cheap pair of Converse or slides.

Skip it if you are after this season's new releases or one specific colourway. Fair stock is mostly older lines, and sizes thin out fast by the final weekend. If you mainly buy Metrix, the brand is excluded from the extra discounts.

Fine print that trips people up

  • "Up to 80%" is a ceiling. Most tables in OC's photos are 30% to 60%.
  • Exclusions apply to both extras. Hot Buy, Star Buy, Bundle Sale and Metrix items miss the extra 20% and the RM50 rebate.
  • Socks are while stocks last. On the last weekend (31 October and 1 November) they may run out.
  • Opening hours are not on the poster. Plan for Avenue K's mall hours and check OC's Facebook page before a late visit.
  • Ask about exchanges before paying. Fair stock is often final sale, so try both shoes on.
