> Quick view: Pizza Hut Malaysia's Merdeka run has three mechanics, not two. The newest one — PWP Reg Pizza 69Sen, a second regular pizza for 69 sen — arrived on 25 August and undercuts the headline: RM36.68 for two regular pizzas, or RM40.67 with one of them a Laksa Kari or Durian Brulee, against RM42.89 for the famous "2nd Pizza @ 6.90". Every "from" price is quoted on the cheapest Fun 5 flavour, and the Merdeka boxes cost RM3 to RM6 more than the everyday boxes.

What changed since this campaign launched

When we first read these pages on 19 August, Pizza Hut had two Merdeka collections live: the Merdeka LTO / Rasa Malaysia page carrying the Laksa Kari and Durian Brulee pizzas, and a quieter Merdeka Storewide Sale page discounting the rest of the menu. Both are still there. What is new is that the storewide page has grown two lines since then:

  • PWP Reg Pizza 69Sen — a second regular pizza for 69 sen with the purchase of one regular pizza, bundle from RM36.68. The artwork offers Pan, the new Crackin' Thin Crust, Stuffed Crust and Hand-Tossed Sourdough.
  • 50% OFF Curry Baked Rice — Curry Baked Rice and Cheesy Curry Baked Rice at half price, from RM8.80.

Nothing was removed. All ten of the original storewide lines and all five Rasa Malaysia products were still on the menu at the same prices when we re-checked at a Kuala Lumpur store on 28 August 2026.

One practical note before you go looking: pizzahut.com.my/collection/merdeka renders an empty page unless the URL carries "?cardType=combo". Reach the sale from the homepage tile, or from Menu → Limited Time Offers → Merdeka Storewide Sale, rather than typing the bare collection URL.

The correction: what RM42.89 actually buys

The article you will find everywhere describes "2nd Pizza @ 6.90" as a full-price pizza plus RM6.90. Opening the bundle shows that is not how it is built.

"2nd Pizza @ 6.90" is a fixed RM42.89 bundle with two slots. The first slot offers ten Favourite regulars at no surcharge; the second slot offers only the Laksa Kari Pizza or the Durian Brulee Pizza, also at no surcharge. So RM42.89 buys one ordinary regular pizza and one limited-time regular pizza. There is no arithmetic in which a RM6.90 pizza is added to something — the RM6.90 is a headline number, not a line item you will see at checkout.

You can prove it from the other side. The 2 Pizzas Deal Rasa Malaysia on the Pizza-Only Deals page sells two regular pizzas for RM36.89 and charges RM6.00 to swap one slot to a Laksa Kari or Durian Brulee. RM36.89 + RM6.00 = RM42.89, the same number, reached honestly.

And the new 69-sen bundle beats both. PWP Reg Pizza 69Sen is RM36.68 for two regular pizzas — Fun 5 *and* Favourite flavours both carry no surcharge — and charges RM3.99 to make one of them a Laksa Kari or Durian Brulee. That is RM40.67, or RM2.22 less than the headline bundle for exactly the same two pizzas.

Two regular pizzas: every route, priced

  • Two separate 50% off Regular Pizzas — RM36.00 for two Favourite flavours (RM35.00 on Fun 5 flavours); the limited-time flavours are not sold at 50% off.
  • PWP Reg Pizza 69Sen — RM36.68 for two Favourite flavours, RM40.67 with one Laksa Kari or Durian Brulee.
  • 2 Pizzas Deal Rasa Malaysia — RM36.89 for two Favourite flavours, RM42.89 with one Laksa Kari or Durian Brulee.
  • 2nd Pizza @ 6.90 — RM42.89, and only in the one configuration: one ordinary regular plus one Laksa Kari or Durian Brulee.

If you do not care about the limited-time flavours, buying two separate 50%-off Regular Pizzas is still the floor — RM17.50 each on a Fun 5 flavour, RM18.00 each on a Favourite. If you do want a Laksa Kari or a Durian Brulee, the 69-sen bundle is the cheapest door in, and it is the one that closes first.

The flavour surcharge nobody prints

Every "from" price on Pizza Hut's Malaysian storefront is quoted on the cheapest tier of pizza, which is the Fun 5 range — Tangy Tuna, Spicy Sausage, Garlic Butter Chicken Pepperoni, Sweet N Sour Mushroom and Smoky Chicken. The moment you pick something else, a surcharge appears on the pizza card, and it is not the same in every bundle:

  • 50% off Regular Pizza — Fun 5 free, a Favourite (Beef Pepperoni, Hawaiian Chicken, Veggie Lover and the rest) +RM0.50, a Supreme or Hut's Signature +RM2.50.
  • PWP Reg Pizza 69Sen — Fun 5 free, any Favourite free, a Supreme, a Hut's Signature or a limited-time flavour +RM3.99.
  • 2 Pizzas Deal Rasa Malaysia — Fun 5 free, any Favourite free, a Supreme or Hut's Signature +RM3.99, a Laksa Kari or Durian Brulee +RM6.00.
  • 3 Reg Pizza Deal — Fun 5 free, a Favourite +RM5.95 each, a Supreme or Hut's Signature +RM9.94 each.

That last line is the trap. 3 Reg Pizza Deal is advertised from RM39.99, which reads like RM13.33 a pizza — but RM39.99 only buys three Fun 5 pizzas. Choose three Favourites and the same bundle costs RM57.84, while three separate 50%-off Regular Pizzas come to RM54.00. We watched the "Add Promo" button climb from RM39.99 to RM45.94 the moment we picked one Aloha Chicken.

The Merdeka boxes cost more than the everyday boxes

This is the comparison the campaign pages do not invite you to make. Side by side at the same store, on the same day:

  • MyBox — RM16.99 everyday, RM19.99 Rasa Malaysia, a RM3.00 premium.
  • WeBox 2 — RM36.99 everyday, RM42.99 Rasa Malaysia, a RM6.00 premium.
  • WeBox 4 — RM56.99 everyday, RM62.99 Rasa Malaysia, a RM6.00 premium.
  • WeBox 6 — RM76.99 everyday, RM82.99 Rasa Malaysia, a RM6.00 premium.

That is not a trick — the premium is what the limited-time pizza inside the box costs. But it does undo the line in most coverage that the WeBox tiers are where the Merdeka campaign pays off. WeBox 6 Rasa Malaysia is RM13.83 a head for six people; the standing WeBox Pizza 6 is RM12.83 a head for the same six people, minus the Laksa Kari.

The whole Merdeka Storewide Sale, priced

Read at a Kuala Lumpur store on 28 August 2026, cheapest flavour in each case:

  • 69 sen 2nd Regular Pizza (PWP) — from RM36.68 for the two pizzas together.
  • 50% off Curry Baked Rice — from RM8.80, covering Curry Baked Rice and Cheesy Curry Baked Rice.
  • 50% off Regular Pizza — from RM17.50, ala carte RM35.00.
  • 40% off Personal Pizza — from RM8.15, ala carte RM13.58.
  • 35% off Large Pizza — from RM30.54, ala carte RM46.98.
  • 30% off Melts — from RM11.61, ala carte RM16.59.
  • 30% off Pasta — from RM10.91, ala carte RM15.59.
  • 25% off Cheesy Pasta — from RM14.69, ala carte RM19.59.
  • 25% off Baked Rice — from RM11.69, ala carte RM15.59.
  • 20% off Hut's Sliders — from RM9.59, ala carte RM11.99.
  • 10% off Regular Laksa Kari or Durian Brulee Pizza — from RM37.79, ala carte RM41.99.
  • 10% off Laksa Kari Pasta, Laksa Kari Melts or Durian Melts — from RM15.83, ala carte RM17.59.

The 30% off Melts line carries its own restriction on the product card — "Limited Time Offer for Delivery & Take Away" — so it is not a dine-in price.

Cheaper than the Merdeka pages, if you are eating alone

Two standing deals beat everything in the campaign for one person, and neither is a Merdeka offer:

  • Hari Hari RM8 — customise your main and side from RM8.00, against an ala carte value of RM22.40. It is dine-in and takeaway only, so it will not appear if you have the site set to Delivery. It has been running since April 2026.
  • FUN 5 PERSONAL 5 — a personal Fun 5 pizza from RM5.30, down from RM13.59. Pickup only. The regular is RM12.70 and the large RM19.10 on the same terms.

Against those, the storewide 40% off Personal Pizza at RM8.15 is not the floor it looks like.

Coupon codes and the app discount

Pizza Hut's own offers page listed four coupons on 28 August 2026, all visible without logging in:

  • HH2525 — 30% off Baked Rice.
  • HH2523 — 30% off Pasta.
  • HH2526 — 2 Pizzas Half Price Deal.
  • HH2527 — 3 Pizzas Half Price Deal.

HH2525 is the one worth remembering, because the Merdeka Storewide Sale only takes 25% off Baked Rice. On that single item the coupon is the better of the two.

Separately, the campaign artwork carries a "Jimat Ekstra 5%" app-deal badge, and the Merdeka Storewide Sale page's own description promises "an extra 5% off when you order through the Pizza Hut App". Ordering in the app rather than the browser is worth a few ringgit on a family order.

Also live right now, and not Merdeka

If you go looking on the menu you will also find Pizza Hut x Bichi Mao, a sticker collaboration that is unrelated to the Merdeka run: MyBox Bichi Mao Combo and Hut's Sliders Bichi Mao Combo at RM19.99 each — one main, one side, one drink and a sticker pack — with two-box versions at RM33.98. Note the same arithmetic as above: the Bichi Mao MyBox is RM3 above the standing MyBox Pizza, and what the RM3 buys is the stickers.

Who this is for, and who should skip

Worth ordering if you want to try the Laksa Kari or Durian Brulee before the run ends — take the 69-sen bundle, not the headline — or if you are buying two or three plain regular pizzas and had not noticed the 50%-off page exists.

Skip it if you were expecting a RM6.90 pizza on its own; that has never been on offer, and the cheapest standalone route to those two flavours is the storewide page's 10% line at RM37.79. Skip the Merdeka boxes too if you do not actually want the limited-time flavour — the everyday MyBox and WeBox are the same meal for RM3 to RM6 less. And skip the 3 Reg Pizza Deal unless you are happy with Fun 5 flavours.

The fine print that trips people up

  • Every price is a "from" price on the cheapest flavour. The surcharge appears once you open the bundle, and the "Add Promo" button is the only reliable total.
  • The 69-sen tier is the short one. Promotion trackers date it 25 August to 2 September 2026, against 20 September for the campaign as a whole. Pizza Hut publishes neither date.
  • The poster and the website still disagree on tax. The Malay small print on the Kesedapan Rasa Malaysia banner says displayed prices exclude the 6% Service Tax and are subject to a 5% service charge or processing fee where applicable, with extra charges for upgrades. The website footer says prices displayed on the site are quoted in ringgit inclusive of applicable taxes including SST. Read the basket total before you pay.
  • Prices vary by outlet. Everything above was read at a Kuala Lumpur store. Pizza Hut's terms state that menu items, bundles, offers and pricing may vary by location, and the in-store price prevails.
  • Two lines are not delivery deals. Hari Hari RM8 is dine-in and takeaway only; the Fun 5 pizzas are pickup only; the 30% off Melts line is delivery and takeaway only.
  • The collection URL needs "?cardType=combo". Without it the Merdeka Storewide Sale page loads completely empty, which is easy to mistake for a finished promotion.
