> Quick view: The REX Home Renovation Expo at Mid Valley Southkey, Johor Bahru, ended on 16 August 2026. REX's last 2026 show, at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur, ended on Sunday 13 September. As at 23 October, no further REX dates, in JB or KL, appear on either Mid Valley Exhibition Centre calendar through December. If you are in JB and still shopping for a renovation, the next free home fairs at the same hall are the Johor Furniture Fair (20 to 22 November), the JB Sofa And Mattress Fair (3 to 6 December) and the Mega Home Electrical Fair (25 to 27 December).

Is the REX Home Expo still on in Johor Bahru?

No. The JB edition, listed by the venue as *Malaysia International Home Renovation Expo 2026 (Southern Edition)* and run by EG Groups Holding Sdn Bhd, the company behind the REX brand, ran on six days across two weekends:

  • Week 1: Saturday 8 to Monday 10 August 2026
  • Week 2: Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August 2026
  • Hours: 11am to 9pm, free admission, at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey

It was not REX's first JB show this year. An earlier Southkey edition ran 20 to 23 March 2026, so August was the city's second REX of 2026.

How the August JB offers worked, for the record

  • RM100 early-bird cash voucher for the first 100 visitors each day. It only paid out once you had spent at least RM1,000 at the expo.
  • RM29 home appliance blind box, available only after a spend of RM2,900 or more. The box could hold a fridge, washing machine or dryer.
  • 8pm home appliance lucky draw on every event day. REX's own posts showed fridges handed out on 10 August. Earlier REX draws have included washing machines, TVs and coffee machines. The widely shared "prizes worth up to RM38,888" figure belongs to a different edition.
  • Appreciation gifts at the redemption counter, while stocks lasted.

What the thresholds were really worth

The headline numbers read bigger than they were, so here is the maths:

  • Spend exactly RM1,000 (say, one mattress) and redeem the RM100: you paid RM900, an effective 10% off. That is the best case.
  • Spend RM2,900 to unlock the blind box: the same single RM100 is now only 3.4% off, and you pay RM29 more for the box.
  • Spend RM5,000 on kitchen cabinets: one RM100 voucher works out to 2% off. Exhibitor discounts matter far more than the voucher at that size.

Who it suited: households already due to buy one large item (mattress, sofa, fridge, cabinetry) who could arrive at 11am. Who should have skipped it: browsers without a purchase planned. The voucher and the blind box were worth nothing below an RM1,000 spend.

REX Home Expo 2026 dates so far

REX moves between three halls. Its 2026 run, from event listings and the venue calendars:

  • 3 to 5 January: Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur
  • 20 to 23 March: Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Southkey, Johor Bahru
  • 17 to 19 April: Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur
  • 3 to 5 July: Pavilion Bukit Jalil Exhibition Centre, Level 5 (Pink Zone)
  • 8 to 10 and 14 to 16 August: Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Southkey, Johor Bahru
  • 11 to 13 September: Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur (listed as Part 2)

The September KL edition, and how its voucher changed

REX's own Facebook post for the 11 to 13 September Kuala Lumpur show spelled out the voucher more clearly than the JB material did:

  1. Arrive at 11am and be one of the first 100 visitors that day to collect the RM100 Cash Voucher.
  2. Shop, and reach a minimum spend of RM1,000.
  3. Take your receipts to the redemption counter, where REX pays out RM100 in cash. In its words, "It's CASH! Not another Cash Voucher".

The RM29 blind box also worked differently in KL. Instead of an add-on unlocked at RM2,900, it ran as an RM29 Home Appliances Blind Box Special Draw at 2.30pm and 5.30pm, alongside the 8pm daily lucky draw for fridges, washing machines, TVs and dryers. The show closed at 9pm on Sunday 13 September, and REX has not announced a show since.

When will REX come back to JB?

Nothing is announced. The Mid Valley Exhibition Centre Johor Bahru calendar (listing as at 1 October 2026) runs to 27 December with no EG Groups event after August, and the KL calendar has none after 13 September. A web search on 23 October found no REX date for November or December either. Its 2026 pattern so far has been one JB stop in March and one in August, so watch REX's Facebook page for a 2027 date rather than planning around a return this year.

Home fairs at Mid Valley Southkey JB for the rest of 2026

All of these are at the same hall as REX and list free admission on the venue's calendar:

  • Johor Furniture Fair: 20 to 22 November 2026, 11am to 9pm (JBFA Events Berhad, tel 016-755 3670). Event sites list it as the Johor Furniture & Electrical Fair, so expect appliances as well as furniture.
  • JB Sofa And Mattress Fair: 3 to 6 December 2026, 11am to 9.30pm (KH Event Management Sdn Bhd)
  • Mega Home Electrical Fair: 25 to 27 December 2026, 11am to 9.30pm (KH Event Management Sdn Bhd)

The Modern Living (18 to 20 September) and Perfect Livin (2 to 4 October) expos listed here earlier have both ended. The venue notes that its list was last updated on 1 October 2026 and can change, so check the organiser's page the week before you go.

How to get value from any home expo

  • Price the big item before you go. Screenshot the showroom or online price, so you can tell a real expo discount from a voucher on top of an inflated tag.
  • Treat vouchers as the last 2 to 10%. They only pay out above a minimum spend, so the exhibitor's own discount does most of the work.
  • Get the delivery date and installation terms in writing. Ask whether the deposit is refundable before you pay, because the booth is gone on Monday.
  • For renovation work, check the contractor, not the booth. Confirm a CIDB registration and a physical office before paying a deposit.
