> Quick view: every day in October 2026, from 3pm to 6pm, Lobby Lounge at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur serves a pink afternoon tea for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It costs RM110 nett for the first person and RM100 nett for every person after that, comes with a brooch and an aromatherapy kit while stocks last, and sends 5% of proceeds to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association. It is good value for one, three or five people, and the dearer choice for even-numbered groups.

What you get

The Pink Indulgence Afternoon Tea is part of the hotel's Pink October programme with the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA). The other half of that programme, the 5km Pink Charity Walk, took place on 27 September and is over, so the afternoon tea is what is left to join this month.

The menu, published by the hotel, has three courses on two plates:

  • Savouries: cured beef with pickled red onion and Pommery mayonnaise on a beet éclair, marinated lobster salad with a candied lemon pinwheel, a burrata and grilled heirloom tomato quiche, and a tea-smoked duck and foie gras puff.
  • Sweets: red berry tart with strawberry cream, Belgian milk chocolate mousse with almond crumble, raspberry rose ispahan and pink guava panna cotta.
  • Scones: a plain scone and a pink cranberry scone, with homemade berry marmalade, whipped butter and clotted cream.
  • Tea: a London Tea Exchange selection that includes Assam, Sencha Gojiberry, Sencha Aloe Vera and Flower of Asia oolong.

The hotel says each afternoon tea also includes a Pink Ribbon Brooch by Angie Jewels & Co. and an Eartheories Aromatherapy Kit, while stocks last. It does not say whether that is one set of gifts per table or per person, so ask when you book if it matters to you.

How to book

  1. Pick a date in October. It runs daily from 1 to 31 October, including weekends.
  2. Reserve through the Restaurant Reservations Centre on 03-2786 2378, WhatsApp 019-390 2257, email dining.KL@shangri-la.com, or the "Book a table" button on the Pink October offer page.
  3. Arrive between 3pm and 5.30pm. Afternoon tea is served until 6pm, and the last order is at 5.30pm.
  4. Pay by card or e-wallet. Lobby Lounge has gone cashless.

What it costs: worked examples

Both menus print prices that already include the 10% service charge and 6% SST, so what you see is what you pay. The useful comparison is with Lobby Lounge's regular Heritage Afternoon Tea, which is sold only in groups of two, four or six: RM198 nett for two, RM372 for four and RM528 for six.

  • One person: Pink costs RM110. The Heritage menu has no price for one, so this is the only way to have afternoon tea here alone.
  • Two people: Pink costs RM210 (RM105 each). Heritage costs RM198. Pink is RM12 more.
  • Three people: Pink costs RM310 (about RM103 each). Heritage has no three-person price, so you would book the four-person set at RM372. Pink is RM62 cheaper.
  • Four people: Pink costs RM410. Heritage costs RM372. Pink is RM38 more.
  • Six people: Pink costs RM610. Heritage costs RM528. Pink is RM82 more.

On a two-person Pink bill of RM210, 5% would be RM10.50 for BCWA, if "proceeds" means the price you pay. The hotel does not define the term.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

It suits a solo afternoon off in the city, a mother-and-daughter or three-friends outing, and anyone who would like part of the bill to support breast cancer care this month. The gifts make it a good choice if you are treating someone.

Skip it if you are four or six people and mainly want a good afternoon tea at the lowest price. The Heritage set, with Malaysian sweets like onde-onde cake and durian meringue, costs less per head at those sizes. If the cause matters to you but the budget is tight, you could book the cheaper Heritage set and donate the difference to BCWA directly.

Fine print that trips people up

  • Gifts run out. The brooch and aromatherapy kit are "while stocks last", so late October bookings may not get them.
  • Points price. Shangri-La Circle members can pay with points: 410 points for the first person. The menu prints 1,370 points for each additional person, the same figure the Heritage menu gives for four people, so it may be a misprint. Confirm before you redeem.
  • Allergens. Every item on the menu contains gluten, dairy and egg, and the mousse and ispahan also contain nuts. Tell your server about allergies.
  • Halal. The menu includes foie gras and says nothing about halal status, so Muslim diners should ask the hotel first.
  • New members: joining Shangri-La Circle (free) gives a one-time 25% off voucher for the Lemon Garden buffet, not for this afternoon tea.
