> Quick view: The Banjaran, the hot springs retreat in Sunway City Ipoh, is serving a pink afternoon tea every day this October for RM150 nett per guest. The useful part is the voucher that comes with it: a 3D mammogram and breast ultrasound at Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh for RM208 instead of RM568. If you were already planning a screening, the tea effectively pays for itself.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and several hotels have pink promotions running. Most of them donate a slice of the price and stop there. The Banjaran's version is different because it attaches a real, priced health benefit to every seat. We read the offer page and the two-page menu on The Banjaran's website on 14 October 2026. Every price below comes from there.
What you get for RM150
The set is built around pink and red ingredients, served on a three-tier stand:
- Savouries: salmon gravlax cured in beetroot, chicken rillette on brioche with pink peppercorns, a red rice toast with cucumber and cream cheese, a beet macaron filled with foie gras mousse, and pie tee with crème fraîche and salmon roe.
- Scones: homemade rose and strawberry scones with roselle jam, butter and clotted cream.
- Sweets: a raspberry and rose opera cake, strawberry cheesecake, a pink grapefruit tart, a raspberry pavlova and a rose and lychee mousse.
- Drinks: coffee, or one of 24 Ronnefeldt organic loose-leaf teas.
The publicity photo shows a glass of bubbly next to the stand. Nothing on the page or menu says alcohol is included, so budget for it separately if you want one.
How to book it
- Pick a day. It runs daily from 1 to 31 October 2026, 2pm to 5pm, at either Pomelo Restaurant or On The Rocks Bar.
- Reserve ahead. Call +605 210 7745 (the number on the poster) or the main line +605 210 7777, or email tbhr.pomelo@sunwayhotels.com. The page has no online checkout for the tea.
- Collect your screening voucher. Each diner receives one voucher for the RM208 mammogram and ultrasound package at Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh.
- Stay for the 5pm class if you like. Diners are invited to join the resort's scheduled guided group wellness class at 5pm on the same day.
Worked examples
- Two friends on a Saturday afternoon: 2 × RM150 = RM300 nett. If both use their screening vouchers, they pay 2 × RM208 = RM416 instead of 2 × RM568 = RM1,136, which is RM720 saved on the screenings alone.
- A daughter bringing her mother: the same RM300 for the tea. If only the mother takes the screening, that one voucher saves RM360, more than the cost of her seat.
- You want the hot springs too: the tea does not mention facility access. The separate Banjaran Day Pass is RM350 nett per guest (non-hotel guests only, 10am to 7pm) and includes the geothermal pools, steam cave, ice bath and a RM150 cash voucher for full-priced spa treatments or Pomelo food. Ask when booking whether that voucher can be used on The Pink Table, because the tea is a promotional menu and the page does not say.
Who it suits, and who should skip it
Go if you are due for a breast screening anyway, or you have a mother, sister or friend who is. A RM360 saving on a 3D mammogram plus ultrasound is the strongest reason to book this over any other afternoon tea in Ipoh. It also suits anyone driving up from the Klang Valley who wants a calm stop at Tambun without paying for a villa night.
Skip it if you are bringing children under 12, since the retreat does not admit them. It is also a lot of money for tea if you will never use the voucher. Ipoh's old town kopitiams will feed you very well for a fraction of RM150.
Staying over? The resident offer has a catch
The Banjaran also runs a Malaysian Residents' Wellness Escape: 15% off the room, daily champagne breakfast for two, one 30-minute back, neck and shoulder massage, and 15% off food and spa, for MyKad, Malaysian passport, work permit or MM2H holders. You need at least one night from Sunday to Thursday and two nights on Friday or Saturday. The 15% dining benefit excludes promotional menus, so do not expect it to take money off The Pink Table.
There is one more October date for wellness regulars: a Full Moon Floating Sound Healing session on Monday 26 October, 7pm to 9pm, at RM350 nett per person with one drink.
Fine print that trips people up
- Per guest, not per set. Two people pay RM300.
- The screening is at a hospital, not the resort. You redeem the voucher at Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh. The page does not publish how long the voucher stays valid, so check the date on it and book the hospital appointment early.
- Ages 12 and up only across the retreat.
- The last sitting is Saturday 31 October. Weekend afternoons will fill first.
- A portion of every set goes to Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh for breast cancer awareness, patient care and early detection. The page does not say how much.
Getting there
The Banjaran sits inside Sunway City Ipoh at Tambun, next to the Lost World of Tambun theme park and a short drive from Ipoh town. From Kuala Lumpur it is roughly a two-and-a-half-hour drive up the North-South Expressway; follow the Tambun signs after you leave the highway at Ipoh.
*Prices and dates were checked on The Banjaran's official website on 14 October 2026. Call the resort before you go in case seatings change.*
