> Quick view: Sunway Pyramid's Malaysia in Motion runs 21 August to 20 September 2026, but the headline prices (RM0.69 chendul, RM6.90 dumplings, a RM18.30 Getha pillow) exist only on 28, 29, 30 and 31 August and 16 September. The free RM350 snack redemption at First Floor, Orange Atrium refuses cash, gift cards, Jaya Grocer, Parkson and delivery-app orders. Every redemption also buys one entry into a 49-prize lucky draw.

Malaysia in Motion is a 31-day Merdeka and Malaysia Day campaign at Sunway Pyramid, and it is not one promotion. It is three, stacked on top of each other, with three different sets of dates. Read it as one thing and you will show up on the wrong day.

The five days that actually carry prices

The mall calls them WAU! Deals, and its own FAQ is blunt about the window: they run only on their respective promo days, 28 to 31 August and 16 September. Everything else you see advertised for the campaign is either a month-long tenant offer or a spend threshold.

Inside those five days, each tenant chose its own. Penang Chendul sells its Signature Chendul at RM0.69 on Friday 28 August only, capped at the first 1,000 customers, in-store purchase only, with the poster noting the price is subject to 6% SST. Rich Kopitiam at Lot G1.PT.05 and 06 on the Ground Floor does a Meehoon Siam plus Lime Bunga Telang for RM6.90, also 28 August only. Saturday 29 August belongs to Madam Kwan's at Lot LG1.47, where Red Bean Ice, Ice Campur or Bubur Chacha go for RM6.90++. Sunday 30 August is Kwan Kee, whose Seri Bako poster prices three kuih at RM0.69, Sunway Pyramid outlet only, and then adds the honest footnote that RM0.69 will be rounded to RM0.70 at payment.

Merdeka Day itself, 31 August, is the crowded one. Manjoe runs an all-day happy hour on its Signature Dumpling at RM6.90++, one day only, 1,000 sets, dine-in, Sunway Pyramid outlet only. Godiva prices a second soft serve at RM8.31, all flavours, plus RM1 if you want a waffle bowl. Getha at Lot LG2.73 sells its Travel Pillow at 69% off: RM18.30 against an RRP of RM59, a saving of RM40.70 on a single item. CelcomDigi Life Store at Lot F1.59 and F1.59A sells an AUKEY travel adapter for RM6.90, 10am to 10pm, repeated on 16 September. VCR Pyramid runs a Happy Hour meal for two at RM69++, choosing from Mario & Luigi, Smoky Carbonara, Fish & Chips or Egg Sando. Caudalie at Lot G1.119C drops Grape Water 200ml to RM69 from an RRP of RM85, and Kamakura does Buy 1 Free 1 on its warabi-mochi and drinks. Two more that the mall's own summary list leaves out: Chongdee Teahouse bundles a Signature Drink with a Pa Tong Ko box for RM16.90, 31 August only, and D'Special Day runs Buy 1 Free 1 on its 8-inch durian soft toy at RM19.90, which its poster limits to 31 August and 16 September while stocks last.

Come back on 16 September and Juice Works sells a Midi Strawberry Kiss at RM6.90, Sunway Pyramid only, while VCR runs a second, separate deal that only exists that day: a Sourdough Waffle at RM16.90++, down from RM19, with the poster stamped "valid at 16/9 only".

One tenant deliberately steps outside the mall's window. Gong cha's NikmaTea Kemerdekaan poster runs 29 to 31 August and 16 to 18 September: buy any drink, get 69% off a regular Winter Melon drink, walk-in orders only, RM1 more for an upsize, and not combinable with other discounts. If you miss Malaysia Day, Gong cha still has two more days after it.

And one poster in the WAU! carousel carries no date at all. Boost Juice's Lychee Jiwa Merdeka artwork gives 15% off when you buy two Original drinks, across Raspberry Lychee, Passion Mango Lychee and Berry Lychee, but prints neither a day nor an outlet limit. The mall files it under the same "WAU! Deals, five days only" carousel as the rest, so plan for one of the five and confirm at the counter before you order.

What the ++ actually costs

Four of the food deals are quoted before tax, and the difference is not trivial at these prices. Malaysian F&B service tax is 6%, applied on top of a 10% service charge. Manjoe's RM6.90++ dumplings and Madam Kwan's RM6.90++ desserts both come to about RM8.05 at the till. VCR's RM69++ meal for two lands at roughly RM80.45, still under RM41 a head for a full meal in a Klang Valley mall. Penang Chendul's RM0.69 is quoted before 6% SST, so expect about 73 sen. Only the retail prices (Getha, Caudalie, CelcomDigi, Godiva) are what you actually pay.

The RM350 rule, and what it quietly refuses

The campaign's free gift is the WAU! Redemption. Spend RM350 or more (RM250 for UOB credit cardholders) across a maximum of two same-day receipts, present them at the First Floor Orange Atrium Railing counter for an e-voucher, then collect a Snack Time Set from Sunway Lagoon Mart on the same floor. The set is one 4-in-1 sachet, one flavoured popcorn, one flavoured potato crisp, one flavoured corn stick and a small non-woven bag. One redemption per shopper per day, and you need to be a registered Sunway Super App member before you queue.

The exclusions are where people lose an afternoon. Payments made in cash, shopping vouchers or gift cards are strictly not valid. Receipts from Sunway Geo, Sunway Square Mall, Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, Sunway Lagoon, Jaya Grocer and Parkson do not count, nor do bill payments, reloads, top-ups, or anything from a bank or money changer. Orders through Grab, Shopee or foodpanda are out even when the outlet is in the mall. In practice that rules out the two easiest ways a family hits RM350 in a hurry, a grocery run and a department-store haul.

There is a neat overlap worth planning around, though. NARS gives RM69 off with a minimum spend of RM350 from 28 to 31 August, and throws in a 3-piece gift the poster values at RM127. Laneige at Lot G1.121A-1 gives RM69 off with RM350 on normal-priced items on 31 August and 16 September, limited to two pieces per customer and excluding new products, limited editions and value sets. Either purchase hits the mall's redemption threshold on the same receipt. The mall does not publish whether the RM350 is measured before or after a tenant discount, so ask at the counter before you pay if that is your only receipt.

The lucky draw nobody mentions

Every successful redemption is one automatic entry into the WAU! Lucky Draw, with 49 winners drawn after 20 September: 16 get a 999 Pure Gold Bundle SK Jewelry Shiok Delights Blind Box, 15 get a Premium Suite 3D2N stay at Sunway Sanctuary, and 18 get an RM500 Universal Traveller cash voucher. One prize per winner. Notification comes by email from a sunwaycontest@gmail.com address, which is worth knowing so you do not bin it as spam.

Free things that cost nothing at all

Three activities need no spend. The We Love Malaysia Wall at First Floor, Orange Atrium is a thread wall where you connect the habits that feel most Malaysian to you, with brand vouchers for completed threads. The POS Malaysia Stamp Journey hands you a postcard designed by local artist Hazizi Azmi at the Orange Atrium Railing, sends you to the SK Jewelry display and then to Lagoon Mart for the last two stamps, and pays out one Setem Ku reward at the POS Malaysia booth near Inside Scoop. That one is once per Sunway Super App account for the entire campaign, so there is no farming it.

For children there is Operation: Malaysia, the Leo Cubs Mission Journey. Complete two of four missions and collect a limited-edition Malaysia in Motion sticker sheet at the Orange Atrium Railing counter. The four stations are LEGO (build slots at 11am to 12pm, 2pm to 3pm, 5pm to 6pm and 8pm to 9pm), MyFirst for a free 3D-pen keychain, D Lap Family Drift Kart at SPWLG1.03A on Lower Ground 1 for a five-minute drift, and Bomb Battle at SPW.LG1.04, 05 and 06 for a public Instagram story tagging @BombBattleMY. Note that the mall's FAQ lists TGV as the fourth station instead of Bomb Battle, so check the app journey on the day rather than the FAQ. Registration is on the Sunway Super App under Leo Cubs.

There is also a free ice cream giveaway at the First Floor Orange Atrium Railing on 28 to 31 August and 16 September, and a Sunway University ensemble flashmob at the Oasis Level G lobby on 30 August and 16 September.

The month-long list, if you cannot make the five days

Nineteen tenants hold an offer for the full 21 August to 20 September run. The most useful: Rocku Yakiniku at RM69 for a two-person Classic Buffet, SUPAMALA at RM98 for a two-person unlimited Angus beef buffet, OGA Tea & Dining with a RM69 Merdeka set, Kakatoo.Go at RM69 with a free Merdeka cendol, Dolly Dim Sum giving a free Dessert of the Day with any fried rice or noodle, Empire Sushi adding a box of selected sushi for RM6.90 more, Simple Life mix and match at RM29.90, Tous Les Jours at RM6.90 off every weekend with RM30 minimum spend, Kind Kones at RM0.69 for any topping with an ice cream purchase, Godiva at RM100 for three boxes of G Cubes, Murad with a travel-sized cleanser at RM69 and 31% off facial treatments, Fitness Concept at 60% off selected equipment, Focus Point Airdoc AI screening at RM60, XIXILI Buy 3 Free 1, Leekor Leekor Buy 5 Free 1, and Gotcha with a Buy 1 Free 1 plus tiered second-cup discounts.

Three names on that list also appear on the WAU! day posters, and in every case the two offers are different things. Caudalie runs an Instant Detox Mask at RM69 for the full month, which is not the same as the Grape Water at RM69 on 31 August and 16 September. Laneige runs selected Bouncy & Firm products at RM69 all month, which is not the same as its RM69-off-with-RM350 day deal. D'Special Day gives a Malaysia-themed balloon or durian plushie charm on a RM100 spend all month, which is not the same as its two-day soft-toy Buy 1 Free 1. If the mask, the Bouncy & Firm range or the charm is the thing you want, there is no reason to fight the Merdeka Day crowd for it.

The campaign runs at two malls, and the receipts do not travel

Malaysia in Motion is not a Sunway Pyramid exclusive. The mall's own campaign copy says it runs across both malls, and the FAQ names the other one: Sunway Square Mall. The same FAQ warns that redemption gifts, quantities and select activities differ between Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Square, so the snack set, the stamp stations and the tenant list in this article are Pyramid's, not Square's.

The trap is that the two do not pool. Sunway Square Mall receipts sit on Pyramid's excluded list, in the same sentence as Jaya Grocer and Parkson. Shop both in one afternoon and you end up with two piles of receipts that each have to clear their own threshold, and neither counts towards the other. Every price and lot number here was read off a poster filed on Sunway Pyramid's own campaign page, and several of those posters say so in the footer: VCR's prints "available in VCR Pyramid only", D'Special Day's prints "only at D'Special Day, Sunway Pyramid".

Who should go, and who should not

Go if you were already planning a Merdeka weekend at Pyramid, if you live in Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya, Puchong or PJ and the BRT or KTM Setia Jaya makes the trip cheap, or if you are buying one specific discounted item. The Getha pillow at RM18.30 and the Caudalie Grape Water at RM69 are genuine single-item savings that justify a trip on 31 August.

Skip it if you were going to drive in from far, queue for a 69-sen chendul capped at 1,000 customers, and drive home. Skip the RM350 redemption entirely if you were not already going to spend that much: the reward is a snack set and a lucky draw ticket, not a discount. And if your plan was to hit the threshold at Jaya Grocer or Parkson, the terms have already ruled that out.
