Ipoh is a food city whose best meals cost under RM15 in a kopitiam, so a hotel buffet has to earn its price here. We went through more than 15 hotels in Ipoh, Meru and Tambun on 7 October 2026, reading each one's website, linked poster files, Instagram and Facebook photo posts. Most hotel websites carry no buffet price at all. The prices that do exist sit in posters, Instagram captions and Google Drive files linked from a hotel's bio, and several are old.
The result is a short list: five hotels with a current, published buffet or hi-tea price, plus one that has switched to a set meal for October.

Who we left out, and why
Dusit Princess Ipoh, the former Travelodge, opened under its new name on 1 October 2026 and keeps The Atrium restaurant, but no buffet price is published yet. AC Hotel Ipoh (the former Syuen) lists only breakfast hours, and its Luk Yu Tea House is à la carte. TUI BLUE The Haven sells an English high tea set for two, and its offer page was last updated in 2023. Sunway Lost World Hotel includes its breakfast buffet only in stay packages. The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat in Tambun sells a set afternoon tea at RM150 nett a guest, which is a different kind of meal. Several older hotels (M Roof, Tower Regency, Ritz Garden, Hotel Seri Malaysia Ipoh) have no working official channel we could use.
How to read an Ipoh buffet price
- Nett versus plus. MH, Excelsior, WEIL and Impiana's Saturday and breakfast buffets print nett prices, which include tax. Impiana's weekday lunch says RM28+, and Kinta Riverfront's tea says subject to applicable taxes. If that means 10% service plus 6% SST, add 16.6%: RM28 becomes about RM32.65 and RM68 about RM79.29.
- Child and senior ages differ. Excelsior and WEIL count children from 5 to 12, seniors from 60. WEIL and Kinta let the youngest eat free (under 4 at WEIL, one child under 6 with two paying adults at Kinta).
- Group deals change the maths. Excelsior's buy 5 free 1 brings the Sunday hi-tea to RM42.33 an adult for six. MH's breakfast buy 3 free 1 makes it RM36 each for four.
- Old posters stay online. WEIL's weekend lunch poster and two of Impiana's offer pages were last changed between January and October 2025. We list them, but flag them, and you should confirm before going.
Which one to pick
For a cheap weekday lunch, MH Hotel is hard to beat at RM24.80 nett. For a Sunday family meal with grandparents, Excelsior's senior and child rate of RM35.80 is the best-value table. For a once-a-month splurge, WEIL's Saturday seafood buffet is the one hotel dinner buffet in town with a current published price. And for a slow weekend afternoon near the Kinta River, Kinta Riverfront's Borak Malaysia tea is the pick, as long as you budget for the tax.
Book ahead for weekends. Ipoh's hotel coffee houses are small, and both MH and Excelsior print "limited seats" or "limited time" on their posters without an end date, so an offer can disappear without notice.
