> Quick view: TNG Digital and FlyFirefly are paying 2% cashback on Firefly tickets bought inside the Firefly Mini Program in TNG eWallet, from 11 August to 31 December 2026, capped at RM150 a transaction with no minimum spend. From 1 to 14 September 2026 the rate doubles to 4% with a RM300 cap, but only once per user. The campaign shares a single RM100,000 cashback pool on a first come, first served basis, so the December end date is a ceiling rather than a promise. Every figure below is read off TNG Digital's own terms and conditions page for this campaign, which we re-read again on 5 September 2026 and found word for word unchanged. The 4% fortnight is open now and closes at the end of Monday 14 September.

Cashback promotions on flights usually fall apart the moment you read the terms. This one mostly does not, which is why it is worth twenty minutes of planning rather than a shrug.

What TNG Digital has actually published

The campaign is organised by TNG Digital Sdn Bhd together with FLYFIREFLY SDN. BHD., and its promotion period runs from 11 August until 31 December 2026, both dates inclusive. Firefly's own listing inside the eWallet puts it plainly: purchase any Firefly flight ticket, with no minimum spend, through Firefly via TNG eWallet, and you get 2% cashback.

The full terms add the parts the banner leaves out:

  • The cashback is 2% of the transaction, capped at RM150 per transaction
  • For eligible transactions performed from 1 September 2026 until 14 September 2026, both dates inclusive, described in the terms as the MATTA Fair Period, the user receives 4% of the total ticket purchase instead, capped at RM300 per transaction, and during this period the cashback is limited to one per user
  • The cashback is only valid for purchases made in the Firefly Mini Program within Touch 'n Go eWallet
  • Combined transactions and/or split transactions are not permitted
  • Cashback is credited into the user's TNG eWallet account within three working days upon a successful transaction
  • The cashback is limited to the first RM100,000 in redemptions on a first come, first served basis, and the promotion ceases once that pool is fully used or at the end of the promotion period, whichever is earlier
  • The promotion cannot be combined with other TNG eWallet ongoing promotions, discounts or vouchers

As of 5 September 2026 the campaign has two listings in TNG's own promotions section, and they carry different dates. The original one, "Get 2% cashback with Firefly!", is headed 25 Jul 2026 - 31 Dec 2026 while its body text says the offer runs from 11 August. A second listing, "TNGD x Firefly: 4% Cashback Promotion", is headed 01 Sep 2026 - 14 Sep 2026 and covers the enhanced fortnight only. Both point at the same terms, and the terms page is the one to trust: promotion period 11 August to 31 December, enhanced rate 1 to 14 September.

There is also a permissions block worth knowing about before you opt in. Participating means consenting to TNG Digital collecting and using your personal information for campaign purposes, and consenting to it publishing your name and the last four digits of your IC number in marketing material. That is standard for Malaysian campaign terms, but it is there in writing.

Two rates, and the point where both caps bite

The pleasant surprise in this campaign is that the cap arithmetic is symmetrical.

  • At 2% capped at RM150, the cap is only reached at a ticket total of RM7,500 in one transaction
  • At 4% capped at RM300, the cap is also only reached at RM7,500

So for almost every domestic Firefly booking a normal household will ever make, the cap is irrelevant. A RM7,500 single transaction on Firefly is a large group or a long multi-city itinerary, not a weekend in Penang. Below that line you simply get the full percentage.

Above RM7,500 the effective rate starts falling. Spend RM10,000 in one transaction and RM300 is 3%, not 4%. Spend RM15,000 and it is 2%. There is no way to engineer around this, because the terms specifically ban splitting a transaction to dodge the cap.

The September window is built around MATTA Fair

TNG's terms name the 1 to 14 September stretch the MATTA Fair Period, in conjunction with the travel exhibition. That is worth pinning to real dates, because the fair and the cashback window are not the same length.

According to MATTA's own 2026 events calendar, the National MATTA Fair Kuala Lumpur runs 4 to 6 September 2026 at MITEC, KL. The enhanced cashback opens three days before the fair and stays open for eight days after it closes, so you do not have to be at MITEC, or buy anything at the fair, to get 4%. You just have to make the booking inside the Firefly Mini Program between 1 and 14 September.

The same calendar carries a trap for East Malaysians. MATTA Fair Sabah runs 18 to 20 September 2026, in Kinabatangan Hall II and III on Level 2 of SICC in Kota Kinabalu, which falls entirely outside TNG's enhanced window. If you are planning to book Firefly flights off the back of the Sabah fair, the rate you will get is 2%, not 4%. Booking a fortnight earlier is worth exactly double.

Sabah is not the only one. Read MATTA's 2026 events calendar to the end and every remaining fair after the Kuala Lumpur edition falls outside the 4% fortnight:

  • MATTA Fair Sabah — 18 to 20 September, SICC, Kota Kinabalu
  • MATTA Fair Negeri Sembilan — 2 to 4 October, Palm Mall Seremban
  • MATTA Fair Kedah — 30 October to 1 November, PICCA, Butterworth
  • MATTA Fair Terengganu — 6 to 8 November, Mayang Mall, Kuala Terengganu

All four sit inside the campaign's 2% period, which runs to 31 December, so a Firefly booking made off the back of any of them still earns something. None of them earns 4%. MATTA's own calendar also notes that event dates may be subject to change.

If you are going to the Kuala Lumpur edition, the fair runs 10.00am to 9.00pm and the venue is Kompleks MITEC at KL Metropolis, 8 Jalan Dutamas 2, 50480 Kuala Lumpur. It bears repeating that nothing in TNG's terms requires you to be there.

The ringgit, on realistic booking sizes

The cashback is a straight percentage of what you pay in the mini program, so the math is easy to do before you commit. All of these sit well under the RM7,500 cap, so the cap never enters into it:

  • RM250 ticket: RM5.00 at 2%, RM10.00 in the September window
  • RM480 return: RM9.60 at 2%, RM19.20 in the September window
  • RM900 for a couple: RM18.00 at 2%, RM36.00 in the September window
  • RM1,600 for a family of four: RM32.00 at 2%, RM64.00 in the September window
  • RM2,800 booking: RM56.00 at 2%, RM112.00 in the September window
  • RM7,500 booking: RM150.00 at 2%, RM300.00 in the September window, both caps reached exactly

The one thing that changes the shape of this is the September per-user limit. Outside 1 to 14 September, the terms cap the cashback per transaction and say nothing about a per-user ceiling, so several separate bookings each earn their own 2%. Inside the September window, the enhanced cashback is limited to one per user, so a second booking in that fortnight is not a second RM300.

That flips the usual advice. Normally you would book separately to keep bookings flexible. In the 1 to 14 September window, putting everyone on one transaction is what maximises the cashback, as long as you stay under RM7,500. And since combined transactions are also barred, do not try to fold a friend's separate booking into yours to get there.

The RM100,000 pool is the real deadline

The date on the tin is 31 December 2026. The number that will actually end this campaign is RM100,000.

That is the total cashback TNG Digital has committed across every user and every booking, first come first served, and the terms say the promotion ceases once it is fully utilised. Work backwards and the scale becomes obvious. If the average booking earns around RM20 in cashback, the pool covers roughly 5,000 bookings across the whole country. Firefly is not a small airline, and TNG eWallet has tens of millions of registered users.

Two practical consequences. First, treat 31 December as a best case, not a plan. Second, the 4% fortnight in September is also the fortnight in which the pool will drain fastest, because every successful booking is pulling twice as much out of it. There is no public counter, so the only way to know whether the pool still has room is to complete a booking and watch for the credit within three working days.

What "cannot be combined" actually costs you

This is the clause most likely to cost a reader money, because TNG eWallet is running several travel offers at the same time and none of them stack with this one.

Sitting alongside the Firefly campaign in the same app, on TNG's own promotions listing, is a Malaysia Airlines offer running 15 August to 31 December 2026: RM120 off MHholidays with promo code MHHTNG120 on a minimum spend of RM2,800, RM220 off with MHHTNG220 on a minimum RM4,900, and RM350 off with MHHTNG350 on a minimum RM8,000, each listed at 50 redemptions. There is also RM110 off selected Journify MHFlypass passes with MHFTNG110.

Run those against the Firefly rate and the comparison is genuinely close:

  • RM2,800: MHholidays RM120 off is 4.3%. Firefly at 4% pays RM112.
  • RM4,900: MHholidays RM220 off is 4.5%. Firefly at 4% pays RM196.
  • RM8,000: MHholidays RM350 off is 4.4%. Firefly at 4% is capped at RM300, or 3.75%.

The Malaysia Airlines codes edge it at every tier, but they are not interchangeable. MHholidays bundles flights and hotels into one booking, MHFlypass is a prepaid pass for three return trips, and each code is limited to 50 redemptions. Firefly's cashback has no minimum spend and no code at all. If your trip is a straightforward Firefly hop, the comparison never arises. If you are choosing between a Firefly booking and a Malaysia Airlines package for the same holiday, it does.

HopeGoo has grown since this article first ran, and it is now the offer most likely to beat 4%. TNG's HopeGoo listing runs 1 August to 31 December 2026, and read again on 5 September 2026 it presents itself as three promos plus a new-user code rather than the single flight voucher we reported. The voucher we quoted before is still there, and its terms are unchanged: up to RM50 off, a minimum spend of RM199 per order, a 500-redemption cap, valid 30 days from collection, and no flights departing from or arriving at cities in mainland China. What is new is a block of domestic codes printed on the listing itself, applied at HopeGoo's own checkout when you pay with TNG eWallet:

  • TNGGOFLYM69 — RM50 off a domestic flight, minimum spend RM100
  • TNGGOSTAYM69 — RM50 off a domestic hotel, minimum spend RM100
  • TNGGOPLAYM69 — RM31 off a domestic attraction, minimum spend RM69
  • TNGNEWGO30 — RM30 off a first HopeGoo flight booking, minimum spend RM100, new users only

Note the contradiction before you plan around it. The listing card prints min. spend RM100 for the flight code, while the linked terms and conditions page for the HopeGoo flight voucher sets the minimum at RM199. Those are two published numbers for the same door, so check the code's own terms inside the app before you build a RM100 booking around it. TNGNEWGO30 does have its own terms page, and they are specific: prepaid one-way flight tickets only, either the departure or the arrival airport must be in Malaysia, minimum spend RM100, maximum discount RM30, valid 30 days from claim, one per HopeGoo account, and it dies the moment you complete any booking or use any other coupon.

Put the domestic flight code next to the Firefly rate and the gap is not close at small ticket sizes. If the RM100 minimum holds, TNGGOFLYM69 returns RM50 on a RM100 domestic flight. The same RM100 spent in the Firefly Mini Program during the 4% fortnight returns RM4. Firefly only pulls level at RM1,250, where 4% is also RM50, and only wins above that until its RM300 cap bites at RM7,500. HopeGoo's terms carry the same anti-stacking rule, one code per order and one per user.

Traveloka is the third door, and it is the biggest one this article originally missed. TNG's Traveloka listing runs 24 March to 22 December 2026. Read on 5 September 2026 it carries two auto-applied cashback vouchers — RM35 for new users and RM25 for existing users, both on a minimum spend of RM400, credited with no promo code and limited to one use per TNG eWallet user for the whole period — plus a separate code, TNGTUE, advertised as up to RM100 off every Tuesday. On a RM400 booking that is RM35 or RM25 against the RM16 the same RM400 earns as a Firefly ticket at 4%. Traveloka's terms are strict in the same way: one use per coupon code per Traveloka user, no stacking with other coupons, promotions or loyalty programmes, no split payment methods, and a cancelled or refunded booking does not get the coupon back.

One TNG travel offer that still circulates is genuinely dead: Payday Flash Deals, the RM50 cashback on a minimum RM300 of travel spend, ran only 25 to 30 June 2026. Its listing page is still up. It is not a live option.

None of these stack with the Firefly cashback, and clause 9 of TNG's own terms is what makes that true: this promotion cannot be combined with other TNG eWallet ongoing promotions, discounts or vouchers. Inside the app you are picking one door, not collecting all of them.

The other flight cashback in the same app

If Firefly does not fly where you are going, there is a second flight cashback sitting in TNG eWallet, and its terms are much tighter. TNGD x Airpaz 2% Cashback runs 1 August to 31 December 2026 and pays 2% on any flight ticket bought through the Airpaz Flight Mini Program in TNG eWallet. Airpaz is a booking agent rather than an airline, so this is the route to non-Firefly carriers inside the same app.

Three differences decide which one you want:

  • The cap. Airpaz caps the cashback at RM30 per transaction, against Firefly's RM150. So the Airpaz cap bites at RM1,500 of spend, not RM7,500. A RM3,000 booking through Airpaz earns RM30, an effective 1%.
  • The pool. Airpaz is limited to the first 200 redemptions, first come first served, against Firefly's RM100,000. Two hundred bookings is a pool that can close in days, not months.
  • No enhanced window. There is no MATTA Fair uplift on the Airpaz offer. It is a flat 2% for the whole five months.

The Airpaz terms carry the same anti-stacking clause, worded slightly wider: that promotion cannot be combined with other ongoing promotions, discounts or vouchers. The two cashbacks are not meant to meet anyway, because they sit behind different mini programs and you choose one at the point of booking.

The practical read: if Firefly serves your route, book Firefly, and especially between 1 and 14 September. If it does not, Airpaz gives you 2% up to RM30, and the 200-redemption limit is small enough that it is worth treating as already gone until the credit lands.

What you are actually flying

Firefly's own site says it currently flies to 16 cities in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines, and its selling points are listed as free in-flight refreshments, fast boarding, a free 10kg checked baggage allowance and convenient city airport locations. That last one is not marketing filler: Subang is a genuinely faster airport to reach from most of the Klang Valley than KLIA, and for a Penang or Kota Bharu hop the door-to-door time difference can be larger than the flight-time difference.

Firefly's own About page fills in what that network is flown with. The airline launched on 3 April 2007, is a subsidiary of Malaysia Aviation Group Berhad, and operates out of Subang and Penang with a fleet of 12 ATR 72-500 twin turboprops plus three Boeing 737-800 jets. Most of the short domestic hops this cashback is aimed at are ATR sectors.

One warning on baggage, because Firefly's own site says two different things. The homepage sells a free 10kg checked baggage allowance, while the older fleet copy on the About page describes the ATR product as carrying a 20kg allowance. Check what your specific fare actually includes on the booking screen inside the mini program before you pay to add more. Buying baggage you already had is an expensive way to enlarge a 2% base.

Firefly's fees page adds detail that matters to the cashback base. All surcharges, fees and taxes are included in the booking and must be paid on booking. The passenger fuel surcharge on domestic flights is subject to 8% SST, a MAVCOM fee applies on all sectors departing Malaysia, and the Malaysia Departure Levy applies to international sectors leaving Malaysia. Because the cashback is a percentage of the total ticket purchase, all of that included tax and surcharge counts toward the amount your 2% or 4% is calculated on.

One free hand-carry bag of 7kg is allowed. Sports equipment such as golf sets and scuba gear is not part of the checked baggage allowance and attracts its own fee. If you know you need extra baggage, adding it during the original booking inside the mini program keeps it inside the same transaction. Buying it later through Manage Booking on Firefly's own website is a different payment on a different platform, and nothing on this campaign covers it.

Who this is for, and who should skip it

Worth using if: you were already going to fly Firefly, you keep a working balance in TNG eWallet, and you can shift your booking date into the 1 to 14 September window. A family booking of RM1,600 made on 5 September rather than 20 September is RM32 better off for no change in what you fly.

Worth using if: you are booking a single large itinerary under RM7,500 during the September fortnight. That is the exact shape this campaign rewards best.

Skip it if: the fare you want is materially cheaper somewhere else. Two per cent is two per cent. A RM40 fare difference beats the cashback on any booking under RM2,000.

Skip it if: you were counting on stacking it with a TNG voucher you already hold. The terms are explicit that this cannot be combined with other ongoing TNG eWallet promotions, discounts or vouchers, so you will have to choose one.

Be careful if: your plans might change. TNG's terms for this specific campaign do not spell out what happens to cashback already credited if you later cancel or refund the ticket. TNG's separate travel voucher terms do address it, and they say cashback may be forfeited, reversed or deducted from the refund. Read that as a warning rather than a rule for this campaign, and do not treat the cashback as money in hand until the ticket is flown.

Fine print people miss

  • The mini program is the only door. The same ticket, same fare, same Firefly flight bought on fireflyz.com.my earns nothing here.
  • Three working days, not instant. The cashback lands after the fact, so it does not reduce what you pay at checkout.
  • One cashback per user in September. The enhanced rate is not repeatable within 1 to 14 September.
  • No splitting, no combining. Both are barred outright, which closes the obvious workarounds on the cap and the per-user limit.
  • The pool can end it early. RM100,000 across all users, first come first served.
  • It is subject to TNG's General Promotion Terms, which sit on top of the campaign-specific terms above.

Check the current terms on TNG Digital's own T&C page for the TNGD x Firefly 4% Cashback Promotion, which is identical to the 2% Cashback Promotion T&C page, or either campaign listing in TNG eWallet, the base 2% one and the 1-14 September 4% one, before you book, and fares and schedules on Firefly's own site.
