> Quick view: Until 18 October 2026, TOMEI takes RM20 off every gram of new 916 gold jewellery if you trade in old gold at the same time. On a 5.63g Lusso Italia bracelet that TOMEI sells online for RM4,194, that is RM112.60 off. Selected gem-set designs are up to RM1,000 off, and My Jewel Club members get extra gifts. Before you hand over your old gold, ask for the buy-back rate per gram in writing, because that number moves your bill more than the discount does.

TOMEI is one of Malaysia's larger gold jewellery chains, with outlets in malls from Johor Bahru to Kota Kinabalu. Its Anniversary Sale runs from 16 September to 18 October 2026. The details below come from TOMEI's own campaign artwork and Facebook post, its eTomei online store, and the live gold price table TOMEI publishes on its website.

What's in the sale

  • Trade in & upgrade: RM20 off per gram. Bring in old gold and trade it in for new 916 (22K) gold jewellery. TOMEI's artwork prints "RM20 OFF /GRAM" with the line "Trade-in old gold for new 916 gold jewellery". No trade-in, no RM20.
  • Gem-set jewellery: up to RM1,000 off selected designs. The artwork shows a red gemstone pendant. "Up to" means most pieces will get less, and only the selected designs qualify.
  • Gift with purchase for My Jewel Club members. A TOMEI tote bag, marked "Member Exclusive". TOMEI does not print a minimum spend on the artwork.
  • 1-point MJC redemption. From 16 September to 18 October, members who make any My Jewel Club gift redemption can also redeem a TOMEI jewellery case for just 1 MJC point.

How the trade-in works, step by step

  1. Bring your old gold to a TOMEI outlet. Broken chains, single earrings and out-of-fashion rings all count as old gold. Bring any receipts or certificates you have.
  2. The counter weighs and tests it and quotes you a trade-in value. Ask for the rate per gram and any deductions, and get it written on the quote.
  3. Pick new 916 jewellery. The RM20 per gram comes off the new piece.
  4. Pay the difference. Your trade-in value is set against the new piece's discounted price.

One thing the artwork does not spell out is whether the RM20 is counted on the grams of the new piece or the grams you trade in. The wording reads as the new piece, which is how we calculate below. Confirm it at the counter before the item is weighed.

What RM20 a gram actually saves

TOMEI's live price table on 27 September (9am) listed 916 gold at RM645 a gram. That is the base gold price. Finished jewellery costs more because of design and workmanship. We read the price and weight of 100 916 pieces on TOMEI's own eTomei store, and they came to RM681 to RM1,046 a gram, with most between RM700 and RM800.

Here is the RM20 a gram applied to real TOMEI pieces at their online prices:

  • Love Ring, 1.13g, RM856: RM22.60 off, about 2.6%.
  • Lusso Italia Bracelet, 5.63g, RM4,194: RM112.60 off, about 2.7%.
  • Twist Bangle, 15.47g, RM10,948: RM309.40 off, about 2.8%.
  • Chomel Mini Goldbar Charm, 0.54g, RM513: RM10.80 off, about 2.1%. Small charms carry the highest price per gram, so the fixed RM20 matters least on them.

In-store prices are set by the counter on the day, so treat these as a guide. The pattern holds, though: RM20 a gram is a small percentage on 916 gold, and it pays best on heavy, plain pieces like bangles and chains.

The trade-in rate is the real deal

TOMEI's live table only shows the prices at which it sells gold. It does not publish what it pays for old gold. That buy-back figure will usually move your final bill more than the discount does.

Say you trade in a 10g old 916 chain for a new 10g bangle. The discount saves you RM200. But if another jeweller or gold buyer would pay you RM20 a gram more for the same chain, you lose that RM200 back on the trade-in. So the smart move is to get a written trade-in quote at TOMEI, then a second quote elsewhere, before deciding.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

Good for: people who already want new 916 jewellery and have old gold sitting in a drawer. Heavier plain pieces, like a wedding bangle or a thick chain, get the most out of RM20 a gram.

Skip it if: you don't have gold to trade in, because the headline discount doesn't apply. Skip it too if you mainly want gold as an investment. The sale covers 916 jewellery, not 999.9 bars or wafers, and jewellery workmanship costs are lost when you sell.

Fine print that trips people up

  • 916 only. The RM20 per gram is for new 916 gold jewellery. 999 gold, gold bars and wafers are not named.
  • Selected designs for the gem-set offer. "Up to RM1,000 off" is the ceiling, not the typical saving.
  • Membership activates the day after your first purchase, according to My Jewel Club's FAQ. If you sign up on the spot, ask whether that day's member-exclusive tote and point deals still apply.
  • Terms and conditions apply, while stocks last. The gifts are limited.
  • Outlets. TOMEI's online store locator does not list every branch. Pavilion Kuala Lumpur's own directory lists TOMEI on Level 2 for this sale, but that outlet is missing from the locator. Call your nearest outlet before making a special trip.

In the Klang Valley, TOMEI's locator lists Pavilion Damansara Heights (Level 2), The Exchange TRX, Sunway Pyramid, IOI City Mall, IOI Mall Puchong, The Mines, IOI Mall Damansara, Setia City Mall, Central i-City, AEON Mall Shah Alam, AEON Bukit Tinggi and Alamanda Putrajaya. The sale runs at TOMEI outlets across the country. For more, see TOMEI's store locator and the eTomei online store.
