> Quick view: Unifi TV's free month ended on 30 September 2026 and TM has not extended it. What is left is better than most people expect. 22 channels now stay free for good with nothing but an email sign-up, and for October only Unifi is adding beIN SPORTS, SPOTV and Unifi Sports to three of its packs, the cheapest of which is the Star Pack at RM16 a month (RM12 for Unifi customers). The catch: the sports window closes on 31 October, one day before the MotoGP race at Sepang.

What happened on 1 October

TM's media release of 2 September 2026 opened all 73 Unifi TV channels to everyone in Malaysia from 31 August to 30 September. It said that once the promotion ended, viewers would drop automatically to a permanent free tier, with no cancellation and no re-registration. When we re-read the release on 6 October 2026 it was unchanged, and TM had published no extension.

So nobody was charged on 1 October. HBO, Cinemax, beIN SPORTS, SPOTV, AXN and HITS NOW simply went back behind a pack.

The 22 channels that stay free

Unifi's own Star Pack page lists the free tier channel by channel (read 6 October 2026). It matches the 22 TM promised:

  • 16 free-to-air channels: TV1, TV2, TV3, 8TV, TV9, TVS, Didik TV KPM, TV AlHijrah HD, Parlimen Malaysia, Bernama TV, Salam HD, ABC Australia HD, CNA HD, DW HD, Euronews and NHK WORLD-JAPAN HD.
  • 6 former premium channels, now free: DEGUP, Dunia Sinema, Sensasi, Inspirasi, Pesona and Al Jazeera.

You need an email address and the Unifi TV 2.0 app (Smart TV, phone, tablet or Android TV box) or a browser at unifitv.com.my. No card and no Unifi broadband. If you signed up during September, you are already on it.

The headline free show this month is Nak Dengar Cerita Hantu Season 2, a Unifi TV Original on DEGUP. Unifi's banner gives the slot as every Monday at 10pm, and its Unifi TV page says you can watch it free on DEGUP HD or stream it in the app. TM's release also names Secret Book Club, with Tiz Zaqyah and Zahiril Adzim, as an October-onwards original on DEGUP.

October only: sports channels added to three packs

Unifi's Unifi TV page carries a banner reading "One month of full sports channels access on us", dated 1 to 31 October 2026, "from RM12/month". On the pack page, three packs carry the same line: "Includes 1-month full access to all beIN SPORTS, SPOTV and Unifi Sports channels in October!"

The packs, at the prices Unifi listed on 6 October 2026. All are no-contract and can be switched at any time:

  • Star Pack, RM16 a month (RM12 for Unifi Home and UNI5G Postpaid customers). 42 channels: the 22 free ones plus 20 basic channels including Cinemax, tvN, tvN Movies, HITS, HITS MOVIES, ZEE Cinema, K-Plus, Nickelodeon, Animax, Asian Food Network and Unifi Sports. Gets the October sports access.
  • Max Pack, RM39 a month (RM30 for customers). HBO channels, the 42 basic channels and an HBO Max (Standard) app subscription. Gets the October sports access.
  • Build-Your-Own Pack, RM30 a month (RM23 for customers). Any five premium channels plus one switchable streaming app, on top of the 22 free channels. Gets the October sports access.
  • Sports Pack, RM39 a month (RM30 for customers). Six premium sports channels plus the 42 basic channels, with the beIN SPORTS CONNECT and SPOTV NOW apps. It is sports all year, so it needs no October promotion.

The maths: the cheapest way to get sport in October

If sport this month is all you want, the Star Pack is the obvious buy. At RM16 it gives the same beIN SPORTS and SPOTV access in October as the RM39 Sports Pack, RM23 less. As a Unifi customer you pay RM12 against RM30, which saves RM18. You also keep Cinemax and the other basic channels.

The Sports Pack only wins from November, when the October access ends. Twelve months of Star Pack cost RM192 (RM144 for customers) but come without beIN or SPOTV after October. Twelve months of Sports Pack cost RM468 (RM360 for customers).

If you want HBO, compare Max Pack against Build-Your-Own. At RM39 (RM30 for customers), Max Pack includes the HBO Max app. Build-Your-Own at RM30 (RM23) only gives you five premium channels of your choice. For HBO plus sport in October, Max Pack is the only one of the three that covers both properly.

MotoGP Sepang falls one day outside the window

Unifi's banner shows Formula 1 and MotoGP. The Formula 1 race at Sepang ran on Sunday 4 October and is over. The PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia runs at Sepang from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2026. Unifi dates its free sports access to 31 October, so the Friday and Saturday sessions are inside it and Sunday's main race is not, going by the dates printed on the banner.

If watching the Sepang MotoGP race is the reason you are subscribing, plan to keep a sports channel into November, or watch the race at the circuit. If Unifi extends or clarifies the end date, we will update this page.

Who should do what

Everyone with no pay TV: sign up for the free tier. It costs nothing, needs only an email, and 22 channels including DEGUP's originals and Al Jazeera are a real improvement on plain free-to-air.

Football, UFC or motorsport fans: the Star Pack this month gets you beIN SPORTS and SPOTV for RM16 (RM12 for customers). Then decide in November whether sport is worth RM39 a month.

HBO viewers: the Max Pack is the only route to HBO now that the free month is over. In October it also includes the sports channels.

Netflix or Disney+ only households: skip the packs. Unifi's banner offers streaming-app add-ons from RM8 a month (up to 60% off) to Unifi customers, but its streaming-apps page says those add-on prices need a Unifi TV Pack.

Fine print

  • Unifi's own promotions page at unifi.com.my/tv/promotions was still showing a "FREE 30-day Unifi TV access" campaign "until 30 June 2026" on 6 October. The current offers are on the Unifi TV homepage banners and the pack cards, not that page.
  • On iOS, Unifi's FAQ says paid subscriptions must be completed on the Unifi TV website or the Unifi TV Box, not in the app.
  • Extra Unifi TV Boxes are RM20 a box per month with a 24-month minimum, according to the pack-page FAQ. Phones, tablets, Smart TVs with the app and browsers need no box.
