Penang's heat does not let up, and most homes on the island and in Seberang Perai run their aircond for hours every day. That makes servicing a routine cost rather than a one-off, and the price you pay depends on three things that are rarely shown side by side: whether the outdoor unit is cleaned, whether gas is included, and whether you book one unit or several.

Searching for a price is harder here than in KL or Johor Bahru. Many results for "aircond service Penang" are nationwide websites with a Penang page and no Penang address. We set those aside and kept operators we could tie to a real Penang or Seberang Perai address, or to a manufacturer page that lists Penang as a service area.

How to compare aircond servicing quotes

  • Indoor only or indoor plus outdoor? Daikin's Basic and Acson's cheaper package clean the indoor unit only. A full service includes the outdoor condenser, which is where dust and leaves cut efficiency. Compare like with like.
  • Normal service or chemical wash? Ban Leng defines a general service as filter, blower, drain pan, drain line and a test run, and an overhaul as dismantling, a chemical clean of both units, vacuuming and a gas refill. The price gap between the two is large.
  • Is gas included? Daikin's FAQ says gas is not included in Go Clean. Acson includes a free refrigerant-level check. AC2U says its RM150 includes refilling.
  • How many units? Daikin cuts the price for three units at one address. Acson gives discounts when you buy two or more packages in its app.
  • Warranty. Daikin and Acson both give a 60-day workmanship guarantee. AC2U gives 90 days. The local shops we checked do not publish one.

How often to service

The operators do not agree. Daikin recommends every six months. Ban Leng and AC2U both suggest a general service every three to four months, and AC2U adds that the outdoor unit should be cleaned at least twice a year. For a bedroom unit running every night, the shorter interval is worth considering; for a rarely used guest room, twice a year is enough.

The one promo that just ended

Daikin's SIHAT45 codes (RM30 off per unit plus RM15 Touch 'n Go cashback, first 500 redemptions) are stated as valid until 30 September 2026, so they end today. We have not listed them as a live offer. The Value Pack prices below carry no end date.

How to pick

If you want a fixed price and a named company standing behind the job, book Daikin Go Clean or Acson in their apps. Both service other brands. Daikin is cheaper per unit if you have three units, Acson includes a gas check. If you live on the mainland and want the lowest published price, SejukAihh in Bertam advertises RM99 and AC2U RM150 with gas. For installation or a bigger repair, Ban Leng, a Bukit Mertajam dealer since 1985, publishes a full installation rate card even though servicing is by quote.

Whoever you book, ask three questions before the technician arrives: is the outdoor unit included, is gas included, and what happens if the unit is still warm a week later.
